Thank you so much for all of your sweet messages and comments about Zoey. I promise a steady stream of updates including info on how I raise her…food schedules, house breaking, exercise, leash training, obedience, etc. Goldens are really smart dogs and do well with training at a young age so we’ve already started. I would consider Sullie pretty well trained but I have big goals for this pup and it’s going to be fun (and require some patience) for both of us! A trained, emotionally stimulated and tired dog is a good dog! She’s currently trying to work a piece of cheese out of a toy as I type! 🙂
While puppies are very, very cute they are also a LOT of work. I definitely did not forget that from my first time around with Sullie. I brought Zoey home three weeks earlier than Sullie and I can tell a huge difference! It’s crazy how much they change and grow over such a short amount of time. I swear she has doubled in size since last week.
I shared this in my last post but she is in one of two states…wide open or passed out. I caught her like this in the office yesterday while I was working. Clearly, life is really tiring for a puppy.
I have two fun stories to share. The first is that she got a bath yesterday and got really cold and started shaking after she went out in the cold to go potty after. I found her curled up in Sullie’s bed shaking so I put a little heater next to the bed and covered her up. She stayed like this for an hour!
After her nap she got up and played for an hour or so and then I saw her sprint down the hallway towards the bedroom. I chased after her expecting her to be doing something bad and found her passed out in Sullie’s bed again. She’s hysterical!
Life is going to be a fun adventure with these two!
Okay, it’s been a long time since I’ve shared any recent eats (I think almost two weeks!) with you so let’s get to it.
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal topped with Wild Friends Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter.
Lunch wrap with deli chicken, avocado, cranberry sauce, spinach and colby-jack. I still owe you guys a wrap tutorial.
Letfotver Thanksgiving turkey and cranberry sauce sliders with cranberry cheddar on little white dinner rolls from Whole Foods. I made some homemade tomato soup to go with it. This was the most delicious lunch ever! I’ll be posting the tomato soup recipe.
Salad with spinach, roasted butternut squash, cranberries, avocado, feta and almonds topped with leftover maple soy salmon and dressed with balsamic and lime honey ginger infused olive oil.
Thanksgiving leftovers! I swear they tasted better the day after when I hadn’t been cooking for two days straight than they did on Thanksgiving.
Maple soy salmon with roasted cauliflower and roasted butternut squash.
Steak dinner! Filet with a red wine shallot sauce and blue cheese, roasted brussels sprouts and roasted acorn squash.
Shrimp pad thai with sauteed mixed veggies.
Charlotte Yoga is just two doors down from Polka Dot Bake Shop so every time I go to the studio I want a cupcake. One of my students was super sweet to bring me one on Monday. This was a “buckeye” cupcake with chocolate and peanut butter on top. My students are the best…this was my second chocolate peanut butter baked good delivery in one week! 🙂
Off to play with the puppy. Hope you’re all doing well and that your December is off to a wonderful start! xoxo
Okay you are making this die-hard cat lady have puppy cravings.
I seriously cannot get enough of Zoey! I am having some hardcore puppy-buying urges right now. She is so cute she doesn’t even look real! You should absolutely make a puppy calendar using all photos of her. I would buy it! Hahah (really though I would…)
Can’t wait for the soup recipe! And the wrap tutorial. I loved your post about how you cook chicken breasts so I imagine the wrap one will be equally great!
I can’t handle the puppy cuteness. Zoey passed out in front of the space heater is too sweet.
Zoey is precious! My pup is 2 years old and these posts make me (kind of) miss the puppy phase. They are SO much work, though! I look forward to reading more posts about puppy routine and training!
Goldens really are adorable. Good thing my son can’t read me saying this because it would spark his “I want a dog please please please please” hoping I would say yes. lol
She is adorable! Our pup just turned 1 a couple months ago and I definitely miss the puppy stage sometimes. I’ll just have to live through your updates 🙂 Enjoy it!
Loving the puppy pics AND your meals look super tasty….especially that salad with butternut and salmon and the shrimp pad thai!
I’ve always enjoyed reading your blog, but I have to admit I look forward to your posts so much more now because of your new puppy. Just too much cuteness! 🙂
I was just talking with a friend yesterday as our pups were having a playdate and as to how FAST that puppy stage goes by…They grow up too quickly…size that is. Their manners on the other hand take TIME and PATIENCE! 😉
Can’t get enough of the Zoey pictures! I love how much Sullie is enjoying her too. They are so sweet. We have a 5 month old Shiloh Shepherd and I’m thinking a Golden would be a great companion! I think Zoey is one of the cutest the Golden puppies I’ve ever seen. Have fun cuddling with her!
