Hello and TGIF! Thursday was a beast for me. I had training clients at 5:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. followed by a gym management meeting, another training client, teaching hot yoga and book club this afternoon/evening. I arrived home at 10 p.m. and was DONE! One thing I do love about my work though is my complete control over my schedule. I stacked today so that I can have some flexibility on Friday for home and personal stuff. Double bonus on loving my work is that every client/class I had today was awesome and I enjoyed every minute of it.
So, it’s been a while since I’ve done a recent eats post and this one is a little off the clean eating bandwagon but that’s totally to be expected during one’s birthday week, right? 😉 Get ready for carbs, cake and more cake with a side of chocolate!
Breakfast
Breakfast is the one meal that I have kept steady over the past week. Green smoothies are still the only thing that I want before noon any day of the week.
Lunch
Well, I met with a friend at Sunflour on Wednesday for lunch and had intentions of ordering a sandwich. I ended up with a morning glory muffin and an iced coffee instead…and enjoyed every bite! The muffin was full of carrots, pineapple, raisins and more.
I got it together today and made a salad and half of a sandwich. This was such a great summer lunch. The salad was a mix of greens, kale, roasted beets, avocado, dried cranberries, goat cheese and sunflower seeds with honey dijon balsamic. The sandwich was tomato, avocado and basil mayo on honey whole wheat.
Dinner
I have eaten dinner out every night this week with various friends for my birthday. On Tuesday I went to The Cowfish which is a sushi and burger restaurant here in won that I avoid at all costs due to the popularity and wait. Fortunately, we were able to be seated late on Tuesday when we arrived at almost 9:30 p.m. I tried the Bento Box for the first time. Such a great combo of a slider, sushi, sweet potato fries, edamame and marinated cucumbers. The variety was so fun here!
And I had dinner out with my girlfriends on Wednesday night. We went to Napa on Providence. I ordered a salad with kale, arugula, pickled onions, tomatoes, goat cheese, strawberries and grilled salmon. We split a couple of pizzas on the side.
Sweet Treats
This week has been FULL of sweet treats. I received a box of mixed truffles from Godiva for my birthday. I’ve been sampling my way through them all week.
My girlfriends surprised me with a box of delicious cupcakes at our get together on Wednesday night. I had a raspberry cheesecake cupcake that was to die for.
And brought home a pecan pie cupcake that was devoured at lunch today. (Yes, that is a chunk of pecan pie in the middle of the cupcake…)
And if that wasn’t all enough, we had chocolate cake at book club tonight to celebrate another friend’s birthday. I was too excited when our host offered everyone a glass of milk with our chocolate cake and eagerly accepted.
I’m attending a wedding on Saturday so we’re going to keep this cake trend going for a few more days! 😉
Favorite cake/cupcake flavors? This is a nearly impossible question for me but my all time favorite is probably strawberry and my least overall favorite is chocolate (although I will clearly eat and love it when it’s offered!).
Pecan pie cupcake?! I must know where to get this!
I’m the opposite of you, cake-wise! I’m chocolate all the way!
Splurges are totally acceptable for bday week, plus you started your days with GREEN smoothies!!
Oh my goodness!!!! That pecan pie cupcake look amazing!
Happy Birthdday Week!! 🙂
My favorite flavor is strawberry, hands down! At my wedding we had a strawberry chamapagne cake that was out of this world.
I love a sweet/salty mix with my cupcakes. Like sea salt caramel, or maple bacon!
Truffles are one of my favorite desserts. So hard to stop with one though. When it comes to cupcakes and pastries I prefer fruity flavors these days. Any type of Berry.
My favorite is a carrot cake cupcake… Or red velvet. 🙂
Yes I love how we can control our schedules and can make some time for us, when we need it. My favorite cupcake flavor is Reeses’s Peanut Butter cup…Chocolate base…peanut butter frosting…sprinkles with chopped Reese’s PB cups…YUMMY! I love how you have a sweet tooth too! XOXO
Truffles – YUM! I’m actually thinking about making some of these myself today for my mother in law who is visiting this evening!
I’d like to give a shout out to SAS cupcakes- The Cinnamon Toast is SooOooOo good!!!
Thrilled to hear your birthday week has been FILLEd with celebration!
Pass all your chocolate treats to me! 🙂
Glad you had an amazing birthday week!
We had carrot cake with lemon frosting and chocolate cake with lemon frosting at our wedding and that was a pretty delicious combo.
I think lemon cake is my all time favorite though!
Cupcakes w/ almond extract are my fave w/ lemon cake a close 2nd. I really love strawberry & white cakes, too. (Can you tell I’m a BIG fan of all things cake?) Chocolate is probably my least favorite, too, but that’s not to say I won’t indulge from time to time. I actually make a Coca-Cola chocolate cake that is my most requested dessert by family members.
I’m a carrot cake/cream cheese frosting girl for life!
p.s. I found your blog a few months ago and I’m loving all your posts! I just started my yoga teacher training, and you’re a huge inspiration! Thanks 🙂 I hope you have a great weekend!
Chocolate is your least favorite?! I finally found your one flaw. I’m not sure we can be friends anymore.
I love chocollate with peanutbutter and chocolate with raspberry….although had a coconut cupcake recently that was sooooo good!
There is definitely no such thing as too much cake during Birthday Week!
My favorite kind of cake is chocolate with peanut butter frosting. I also looooove chocolate birthday cake with buttercream. Now I want a cupcake. 🙂
Have fun at the wedding this weekend!
Actually, I’m not a cake or cupcake fan. I can easily pass on these treats, unless they’re extraordinary. What I can’t say NO to is ICE CREAM (and the special occasion where there is great cheesecake).
there is a special place in my heart for ice cream. SO GOOD!
Where are these cupcakes from in Charlotte?? YUM!
