Happy Friday…although today feels like any day other than Friday. My days are all so mixed up between travel and the Fourth of July.
I had a quiet but lovely July Fourth. I taught two morning hot yoga classes, went for a three mile BLAZING HOT run, picked up Finn and hung out at home with him for the rest of the day. He was in the cutest/sweetest/most fun mood all day and we had a great time together. I really didn’t one bit miss not having a cookout or pool party to attend. <3
I built a water table that turned out to be a project that involved a lot of elbow grease and reading. You had to screw straight into plastic with no pre-drilled holes and there were like 26 listed assembly steps (why a water table has to be so complicated to put together is beyond me). The effort was worth it because Finn loved the water table and I can tell that it’s going to provide hours of entertainment for years to come.
While we were outside playing I also filled up a small plastic pool. Zoey loved jumping in and out of that but unfortunately she also loves to roll in the grass and dirt when she’s wet. I had to give her an outdoor bath with the hose before I let her back in…which she did not love as much as pool jumping. ๐
We got a big afternoon thunderstorm that made for the perfect excuse to hunker down and do some cooking and baking. I baked a loaf of carrot zucchini bread and made a peach blueberry crisp with some peaches that were on their last leg. It was a perfect July Fourth dessert and I enjoyed some with ice cream after dinner.
I was in bed reading before 10 with a white noise app blasting to drown out the sounds of everyone in my neighborhood setting off fireworks. I’m reading Jennifer Weiner’s new book, Mrs. Everything. I’m only 25% into the book and can’t give you an opinion on it yet. Not sure yet if I’m going to love it or be “eh” about it.
Alright guys. I’m off to Charlotte Yoga for weekend four of our 200-hour yoga teacher training so I’ll be immersed in that all weekend. I am excited…my trainees for this TT are a very engaged, all-in group and also a ton of fun!
What did you do for July Fourth?ย
Did you make any special food or desserts for the Fourth?ย
What are you reading right now?
That blueberry crisp looks great. I made a blueberry and peach crumble with blueberries my dad grew and Georgia peaches.
As a Georgia girl, I love Georgia peaches! Very cool that your dad grows blueberries.
We have a water table too and our guy LOVES IT. July 4th was all things water for us… a trip to our town lake and then a afternoon at the water table ๐
I am about to start reading Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty which I have heard good things about!
Finn is all about water…bath, pool, water table! ๐ Sounds like y’all had a great day.
Her books are usually great!
Iโm reading it too, more than half way done and still feel ehh, curious what you think when you are done!
Oh that is interesting to hear. I was so excited to read it but I’m not loving it.
I finished it, and I just didn’t like it, as much as I tried to like it. Normally I love her books and can finish them in a few days, this one took forever for me! What did you end up thinking?
I’m reading the same book and feel about the same. I usually love Jennifer Weiner’s books and was looking for a lighter read after finishing Then She Was Gone- it gave me nightmares!
I’ve loved all of her books but I was just eh about Mrs. Everything
That sounds like such a lovely fourth of July!! Have fun at your Charlotte yoga trainings! Thanks for sharing.

I’m always impressed when people bake in the summer months. I loathe turning the oven on–it’s like just knowing there is something that hot in my house makes me feel hotter!
I was eh about Mrs. Everything!! I wanted to like it but the story just drug out and I kind of lost interest. Not her best!
