Since my arrival in Atlanta I have done little more than eat, rest and hang out. Due to general exhaustion and the fact that I still can’t completely kick this cough, I took Wednesday as a rest day. I did go on a walk with my mom and their sweet golden, Sam, (who makes me miss Sullie) so at least that’s something.
Breakfast was a bowl of oatmeal with pears, blueberries and dried cranberries. My dad was so thoughtful to pick up oats, greek yogurt and fresh fruit for me! 😛
We never really ate lunch so around 3:30 p.m. I made this snack plate.
White Stilton with cranberries, crackers, carrots, spinach dip and a couple of True North clusters. My mom bought these things and I’m obsessed. Slightly addictive.
My snack held me over until our dinner reservations at Atlanta Fish Market. It’s part of the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group and it’s been one of my favorite Atlanta restaurants for years and years.
You know you’ve arrived when you see the gigantic fish outside of the restaurant. 😉
Atlanta Fish Market offers a large selection of fresh seafood that is flown in daily. The menu changes twice a day, based on availability. I had to excuse myself from the table while trying to decide what to order so that I could spend a moment in front of the seafood case to see what was speaking to me! I was very torn between halibut, lemon sole or sea scallops.
While I was making my decision I ate my fair share of bread and butter. One of my favorite things on earth is warm, crusty bread with salted butter.
My dad ordered calamari for the table.
My final entree selection was sautéed halibut in a lemon butter sauce with whipped sweet potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
My dad ordered blackened black grouper with whipped potatoes and vegetables.
And my mom’s entree was ridiculous. Sea bass “Hong Kong Style” – sherry soy, scallions, ginger, spinach and a bowl of sticky rice. This is my very favorite seafood preparation at AFM but for some reason I strayed from it last night. So good and definitely something I want to recreate at home.
I finished my meal with a slice of key lime pie and some coffee. Loved the thick homemade graham cracker crust.
It was such a nice dinner out with my parents. Much thanks to my mom and dad for spoiling me! 🙂
My mom and I had plans to rent The Help after dinner but then I got stuck here with my dad.
My dad and I dropped my car off at Pep Boys earlier in the day to have new tires put on. They said that it would be ready by 6:30 but when we arrived at 8 they had not even started. 👿
The manager on duty went into total service mode and put four technicians on the car but we still ended up hanging out in Pep Boys for an hour and entertaining ourselves with things like this…
My dad spotted this gem…a french fry holder. Fits right in your cup holder and prevents fry spills. Seriously?
Minus the late night trip to Pep Boys, it was a really nice day. At least I have new tires and a safe car to drive back in.
And it’s time to become slightly productive. I’m headed off to the Y and then running errands. I see lunch at Whole Foods in my future and I’m super excited!
your fish dish looks delicious! a french fry holder..whatt?!
I just got new tires this month too. Nearly $600!!
I guess the price of rubber has gone up. But I feel safer now in my vehicle.
What part of ATL do your parents live in? I’m in Tucker (near Spaghetti Junction).
Also, what’s your secret for getting such good restaurant photos? Mine are always too dark or too grainy.
Yumm looks like a great dinner! A french fry holder? Who thinks of these things lol
I LOVE sea bass. So jealous.
Hope you feel better soon, Jen! Enjoy your time off in Atlanta! 🙂
That looks like my kind of restaurant!! It all looks delicious.
And yeah, you know you’re in America when you see a french fry holder. :/
A french fry holder? Wow. So sad 🙁
kick that cold for sure! hope its gone by the new year. Looks like a blast in ATL! Enjoy the rest of your time and so glad I could catch up with you Jen.
Makes me smile.
🙂
OMG I LOVE the Atlanta Fish Market! We went there about 8 years ago while visiting Atlanta and, to this day, I still talk about it as the best meal I’ve ever had. I had the Skate (first and only time I’ve ever had it/seen it on a menu) and we shared an apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. AMAZING dinner. I want to go back so bad.
