Happy Friday!
I loved the comments on the beauty post…I’m happy to know that I’m not the only waxing fanatic. I also got quite a few comments about you guys having to color for gray hair. I responded to those comments saying that I definitely have my fair share. I’ve had them since I was 18! I’m holding out on color as long as I can hide them though! ๐
Let’s get back on track here. I missed posting last night because we had a fun evening out. First, I taught BodyPump after work and then rushed home to get ready for dinner and a concert.
We had tickets to see our favorite Athens band, The Whigs.ย Athens is the city where we went to college (where the University of Georgia is located) and is known for producing amazing musicians and bands. The guys in The Whigs were in school when we were and recorded their first album in a frat house over summer break. Now they’ve got three albums out and have spent the last year traveling with Kings of Leon. Awesome! I’ve talked about my love for The Whigs in previous posts.
The show was in NoDa so we decided to have dinner at Crepe Cellar before. Crepe Cellar serves “traditional European street fair” and has a great selection of savory and sweet crepes. This was my first trip to Crepe Cellar.
Since I was a first timer I had to order crepes for dinner. I went with the spinach + wild mushroom + goat cheese combo in a buckwheat crepe. It was delicious, especially after I ordered a side of bechamel sauce and drizzled some on top! I can’t even remember the last time I ordered fries but these were perfect. Skin on, heavy on the sea salt. I can’t wait to go back to Crepe Cellar. I’ve heard they have a great brunch so next time I’ll have to hit up the sweet crepes!
There were three bands playing last night and The Whigs didn’t come on until after 11. Not normally my “school night” routine but they’re totally worth it.
The show rocking – they were loud and the energy was incredible!
Such a fun night. I loved having our favorite college band in town. It definitely brought back some good memories!
The concert ended around 12:30 and the next thing I knew Brandon had convinced me to stop at Amelie’s for a late night treat. Amelie’s is a 24 hour French bakery in NoDa. I ended up eating a salted caramel brownie on the car ride home! Oops…I ate dessert every night this week! ๐
We finally made it to bed around 1 a.m. and just four and a half short hours later my alarm went off for yoga. I drug myself out of bed and to the studio. Not going to lie, I didn’t feel stellar from the beer + fried food + late night brownie + lack of sleep combination but surprisingly I had a great practice. I think I needed to sweat it out!
I only worked a half day. Breakfast at my desk was plain Greek yogurt with chia seeds, bananas, strawberries, granola and almond butter.
And lunch was a big salad. Can you tell I’m trying to repent for last night’s sins? ๐
Off to find a snack and finish packing for the beach. We’re leaving in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is less than stellar. Saturday we are supposed to have severe thunderstorms, hail and damaging winds. Big boo to that. I’m just going to use this trip as an opportunity to REST and SLEEP.
Tomorrow is a big day for Peanut Butter Runner. Stay tuned!
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
That crepe looks delicious! I’m so jealous of all the awesome, local restaurants you blog about! Unfortunately for me, Dothan only has a few local joints mixed in with a ton of chains – boo! Have fun at the beach! ๐
I went to Athens a few times for concerts in college ๐
Have fun at the beach – we are heading there this weekend too!
spinach, wild mushroom and goat cheese sounds like an amazing crepe combo- yum. Sounds like a fun night out… and it makes me miss Athens- what a fun town! ๐
I love crepes! I had one at a restaurant in Harvard Square with melted chedder, fresh green apples, hint of brown sugar and honey drizzle. Amazing. ๐
My early attempt at pancakes would result in crepes. Haha.
those salted caramel brownies are always impossible to resist!
uh why did you have to remind me of the salted caramel brownies??!!! I gave up alcohol and sweets for the next 30 days!
I have never had a savory crepe, but one day I will!
I just got some strawberries from the store and am definitely going to have to incorporate them into a salad this weekend!
