Happy Friday everyone. A few things to share…
How I’ve been working out.
Remember how I blogged yesterday about my 5 year BodyPump anniversary and that I was going to teach last night? Well, it was amazing and I felt so happy up there but it was SO HARD. Taking almost a month off of BodyPump is not a good idea. My arms were visibly shaking during the side hovers in the ab track. I guess I did it to myself given that I taught a tricep track with 16 push ups and shoulder track with 32…my chest and triceps are most sore today. Funny how BodyPump works…I CrossFit regularly so you’d think BodyPump wouldn’t make me sore but BodyPump’s high reps at lighter weights get me every time. I always tell my classes that they would never go out into the weight room and do 125 squats in 5 minutes on their own! 😛
I picked up this furry face on my way home from teaching BodyPump and took her straight out for a walk when we got home. It was one of those perfect summer nights for a long walk. I caught up with my grandmother while we walked and that was really nice.
I had a meeting at the CrossFit gym this morning at 8 a.m. so I got in a little early to do the 7 a.m. CrossFit class. On the board today was “Running Annie.” Annie is a benchmark WOD consisting of double unders and sit ups but our programmer added in a running element. Y’all know I’ve been working on my double unders lately so I went into this telling myself I’d do them all. Well, that went out the window in the first set of 50 when I kept missing them. I gave up at 15 and moved to 2-for-1 singles. On the next round I attempted the double unders again and was able to get them done at a rhythm of 1 single, 1 double under for the remainder of the WOD. Once I got done with the last set of 10, I was SO frustrated with myself for giving up on the first 50 that I went back and did them. It ended up taking me a little over 23 minutes once I did that. I explained my situation to my coach and he agreed to RX me. I swear that double unders are as much of a mind game as they are skill.
I was a sweaty mess after this one. Definitely recommend it for a good bodyweight/cardio WOD and would be easy to do at-home or while traveling.
What I’ve been eating.
The answer to that would be nothing exciting. Smoothies for breakfast, salads for lunch and the most random stuff for dinner this week. I haven’t cooked a single night. I’ve been out with friends most nights and off my normal schedule. I did polish off that Peanut Butter and Banana chocolate bar today and I am happy to report that it tasted as good as it sounded.
What I’m thinking.
Can’t get this Truth Bomb from Danielle LaPorte off my mind.
No, really. It’s like this.
I have some interesting and fun things planned this weekend. Tonight I’m going to a lecture/talk with a friend that I’m really looking forward to and on Sunday some of my blog friends from Winston Salem are driving to Charlotte to take my “yoga church” hot class and go to brunch. I can’t wait for all four of us to be together!!!
How did your workouts go this week? And do you ever feel like the universe sends you LOUD and CLEAR signs?
On a slightly off topic from this blog post, I have to say something regarding a blog post of yours from last week. I’ve always read what you ate, etc,. but since you’ve started adding other aspects of your life into your blog, I find I truly look forward to your posts! One book you suggested last week, Mind Over Medicine has been sucking me in all week long. My husband and I believe that if we fix our issues with others, forgive, love more, grudge less and live healthfully and fit, our bodies will follow suit as best they can. So that book was totally up my alley! I bought if off of your suggestion and don’t regret it a bit! Thank you for opening your life up to us a little bit more! Oh, and on today’s CLEAR signs.. Oh yes, I totally believe that! There’s a friend of ours, we’ve been trying to get together for ages but literally EVERY time we schedule or try, something comes up and it doesn’t work out. It was actually just today that I told my hubby I thought it might’ve been God showing us they’re not to be in our lives right NOW. Sometimes, we just need to go with the flow of things as they are and do what we feel good about! By the way, I stared at that poor woman being dragged down the stool for about 50 replays.. lol
OMG the universe was sending me signs loud and clear this week about “man issues” and between that and the full moon I was batty. In the end, my gut and the signs were all right. Time to move on to the next. Live and learn. Thinking I need to write a book about these situations. I swear it is like old episodes of STC. This one I am laughing off and moving onward and upward. XOXO
just FYI, your bod is body-rockin’!
Please come and train me..you look amazing!! And I totally believe in signs!
I love these workouts that you post and the suggestions on books. As an introvert married to an extrovert, we find it a struggle sometimes to accommodate each other in social settings. “Quiet” seems like an interesting read. Thanks again for the suggestion.
Yay! Can’t wait for yoga tomorrow!
Congrats on your 5 year bodypump anniversary – that is amazing! It is truly one of the best workouts I have ever done or taught!! I am excited to check out 87 – it just came in the mail this week. 🙂 And good for you for going back and finishing that WOD as an RX and NOT giving up – that is commendable. 🙂
