Good morning!
Today is my birthday and I kicked it by teaching yoga at 6 a.m. (just like last year!). My students sang the birthday song to me during backbends so that was sweet. Also sweet was my fiance who surprised me at the end of class by delivering three dozen roses, three balloons and three magazines to celebrate my 33rd birthday! 🙂
Last year my mom and dad got me a new pair of running shoes for my birthday.
I had been running in Mizuno Wave Elixirs for a couple of years when they got discontinued. I had a really hard time finding a replacement for them until I discovered Newton Fates at a running store in Florida. I’ve now spent a whole year running in Newtons so I thought I’d give you an update AND give away a pair! (It’s fun to give gifts on your birthday too!)
In short, I love my Newtons! I’ve put a ton of miles on them between half marathon training last fall and all of my everyday runs. They’ve been nothing but comfortable and supportive for me. I’ve had no issues with the shoes and no injuries in them! The Newton Fate is a neutral running shoe that’s designed to enhance your everyday runs. One of the things I appreciate most about my Newtons is a low heel to toe drop. So many shoes have become super thick, cushioned and clunky with high heel heights. Newtons are designed to help you run in a more natural position.
The most differentiating thing about Newton Running shoes is their proprietary Action/Reaction Technology. You’ll notice “lugs” across the forefoot of the Fate. The active movement of the lugs helps the Action/Reaction Technology to create a responsive, trampoline-like cushioning system that provides quicker bounce-back and loses less energy than a traditional foam-core running shoe. (This is the description from Newton’s site…I don’t speak running shoe tech talk!)
The lugs definitely provide a different feel for your runs but I quickly got used to them.
Earlier this year Newton sent me a new pair of Fates in a lovely mint green color (<– this link has the mint green, pink and a light blue color!). Newton is known for their colorful shoe designs. I have been running in the updated Fates for a few months now and I love them just as much as the previous model.
They also sent me the Gravity V to test out. It’s also a neutral running shoe for daily running but is also designed to function well for tempo runs and races. It’s very lightweight, breathable and flexible. I’ve been mixing it in for some of my runs and treadmill speed sessions. I find that the Gravity is a more ideal shoe for me to wear to the gym when I’m going to be running and strength training in the same workout.
I am totally on Team Newton Running now. It’s so tough for me to find running shoes that I really love and I’m so happy to have discovered Newton!
I’m excited to partner with Newton to give away one pair of Newton Fates to a lucky reader! If you’d like to enter to win, just leave a comment telling me why you love to run! 🙂
You have until Sunday at midnight EST to enter. I’ll announce the winner on Monday. U.S. only. One entry per person.
Have a great day! And happy running!
To clear my head and alleviate anxiety. Hoping to do a 5k at some point this year. Going to start with Couch to 5k!
PS happy birthday!!!!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because I can do it anywhere, anytime! And it helps me manage stress :).
Happy, Happy Birthday! Aren’t the 30’s the best? 🙂
I love running (mostly outdoors) because it clears my mind and I feel awesome when I’m done! 🙂
Because it makes me feel like rock star!
Running is my meditation!!
I love to run for that feeling I get when I’ve finished running!
Hi Jen! Happy Birthday!! I love to run because it gives me time for myself and makes me feel more alive, moving fast and inhaling fresh air (at least during the summer months)!
Happy birthday!
I love to run because of the endorphin rush I get. Keeps me pumped all day long!
I love to run because it gives me time to think and clear my head, and I love the feeling of accomplishment when I have completed a hard run. Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
I love running, running is my favorite!
Running is my “me time”. I love the solitude and clarity that I gain from my runs.
My reasons for running have changed over the years–weight loss, stress relief, to find strength. But now, I run because I feel truly blessed to have two strong legs. I run because it’s ingrained in me. It’s now who I am.
It makes me feel strong!
Happy Birthday!!
First off, Happy Birthday!
I also have trouble finding shoes I absolutely love and have also had trouble since Mizuno stopped carrying the Elixirs (although I’ve tried a ton of other brands since–I just haven’t found the perfect replacement)! But perfect shoes or not, I love running because it takes my mind off everything else, requires me to be present and guarantees that I get outdoors for several hours each week. Also, the challenge of putting all the hard work out there during a race can’t be beat (and neither can the endorphins for that matter)!
Happy Birthday! I ran my first race to commemorate my 50th birthday. I have been running for 5 years and love how it makes me feel after!
I love to run because as someone who was always over weight, even as a child, it was always something I was told I “couldn’t do” and dreaded any thought of running. We’ll i’ve shown them!!
I have only started running in the last year. When I run I feel strong and definitely clears my head!
Happy Birthday!!! I love running for allowing me to completely disconnect and focus on one task, and for many other reasons! I could go on forever 🙂
Love the mint green ones! super cute! running is the best challenge/reward. Great way to start my day!
I love running because of how strong and energized it makes me feel – I crave that feeling when I don’t get it regularly. I also love Newtons! Most comfortable show imaginable.
Happy Birthday! Why do i love to run???? so many reasons… meditation, joy, accomplishment, fun, challenge, health…… and i’d love to try a pair of newtons!
When I was in high school, I loved to run because it gave me some time by myself when I could think things through without worrying what others thought about me. When I was in college, I loved to run because I was suddenly more sedentary than I had ever been before, and it was nice to use my legs for something other than a place to set a laptop. When I was in grad school, I loved running because I could think through projects and generate great ideas for whatever I happened to be working on at the time. And now, as a 30-something, I love running because it’s one of the few things I can do just for me.
Happy Birthday?
I love to run because of the endorphins!!
I love running because it keeps me sane! Happy birthday!! 🙂
happy birthday! I love running because it gets my outside before or after a long day indoors at work
Happy Birthday! I’m extremely new to running (more like wogging…walk/jogging). I’m trying. I always feel good when I am done, which helps me motivate for the next time.
HBD! I love to run because I love being outdoors and you can do it anywhere. It’s a great way to explore new locations!
Happy birthday!! I love to run because it’s fun mixing up workouts from my usual crossfit.
With a 17 month old and a newborn at home, running gives me alone time I can’t get at home!
The way it makes me feel after!
I run to stay in shape but also to help with worry and anxiety. I always feel better after a run if I am stressed about something!
I love to run because it gives me energy all day!
I love to run because I can turn my mind off
I run for a few reasons. 1. It’s a fabulous workout. 2. Great way to catch up with running friends. 3. It can also be MY time.
I love to run to clear my head!
Happy Birthday!!! Admittedly I don’t love to run, I run because my coach makes me, but a few other people at CF have started to move towards better running shoes for running WODs and I think I need to do the same, maybe I’ll start to like it more and not cringe when I think about doing endurance class.
Running is my escape from the world! It also helps to control my anxiety…it has become my happy place!
Running makes me have more confidence!
I actually don’t love running, but always feel great when it’s done. 🙂
Running helps relieve stress and helps me ‘escape’ reality for a bit. There is nothing better than zoning out and getting a workout in.
Happy birthday! I like to run to clear my head and for the endorphins!
I love to run because I can! I messed up my knee pretty bad and couldn’t really run for about 4 years. I’m just getting back into it and I’ve really learned to just appreciate when I can finish a run without pain and finally get back to enjoying the serenity and/or jam sessions that come along with a good run.
Happy Birthday!! Running is my #1 stressbuster!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because it clears my head and adds clarity to my day! It is also helps keep my weight in check!
I love running because I can do it anywhere – just need shoes!
Running is ME time! It definitely reduces my anxiety, too.
Running has always been my favorite exercise and favorite outlet for stress relief. I had my first baby 3 months ago and couldn’t run during pregnancy, so I’m just now “learning to run” again after a year off. It’s humbling- especially in the Texas heat! Happy birthday!
I am a happier wife/mom/person after a run!
I love to run because it gets me outside and exploring new places!
I love to run because it is time for me to make myself better, stronger, faster!
I run for clarity, strength and fun!! I love running 🙂
Running keeps me physically healthy and mentally sane!
Love these color options! I run because it’s my only “me” time of the day to reflect and recharge.
Running at the end of the day after my kids go to bed is my favorite way to have a little time to myself and clear my head. Would love to try these shoes!!
First off, Happy Birthday Jen!
The reality is that I don’t run much anymore because I developed knee problems. This means running is a “special treat” I can give myself when I’ve been really diligent about stretching and foam rolling, and my knees are feeling great. I love running because it gives me the opportunity to enjoy my neighborhood in a way that I can’t when I’m running errands or schlepping to work.
I love running because it’s great exercise that also allows you to be outdoors and explore. Plus, nothing feels better than finishing a tough sprint, hill, or long run workout!
For time to myself! Between my job, son and household it’s nice to take a few minutes to exercise.
First of all, Happy Birthday! I hope 33 is great for you!
Thanks for the chance to win what sounds like an amazing pair of sneakers! I love to run for so very many reasons, but especially because it calms my mind and it makes me feel strong.
I love to run because it offers so much for my mind and body. If I need to clear my head, running is there . If I want to feel strong and powerful, a good speed session will do that. Running is never easy for me but the reward is so awesome!
I run because I can. I could only run less than half a mile 6 years ago. Now I have run two half marathons and many 5 and 10k’s. I also run now three months after having a baby for me. 🙂
Happy Birthday! I love running because it’s my “me” time and meditation!
Happy birthday! I love getting sweaty during a run.
Running is the best de-stresser there is! I love to just completely let my mind go worry free during a good run.
Happy birthday!
I love to run because it’s a way to be outside and push myself. I have recently gotten back into running after a long hiatus and it’s not easy, but it feels really good to be back out there.
Happy birthday!! What a sweet surprise from your class and fiance. 🙂
I was thinking about running this morning, actually. I am in no way a natural runner, even though I’ve endured disgusting Arizona summers training for two half marathons. To be honest, I usually HATE running when I’m doing it…but I LOVE the feeling afterwards. There really is nothing else like it! I’ve definitely been toying around with the idea of getting back into it this fall. It’s addictive.
Happy birthday! Ah running Keeps me sane! Nothing I love more than going for a run to start my day–I feel so energized and ready to tackle whatever comes my way. I am in serious need of new running shoes though! I’ve been wearing asics for awhile, but even if I’m not th lucky winner…I think I’m going to have to find newtons and try them out! Love the colors!
I love running because it makes me feel strong and powerful when I accomplish a new distance or a new pace for the first time!
Happy Birthday! I love to run to explore new places, relieve stress, and to keep some athletic/competitive juices flowing as I get older!
I love running because it teaches me to appreciate my body for what it can do, not how it looks. At the same time, I love running for how it makes my body look. I love running for the community it builds. I love running to relieve stress, celebrate and grieve through life. I love running for teaching me to fuel my body well. There are so many more reasons to love running. I could write a book on it.
I love running because it taught me to appreciate and love my body in a whole new way!
I love to run because it makes me feel so happy:) I get pretty anxious over things and running helps calm me!
I just started running but I’m already hooked! For years I’ve been trying to embrace running but it never felt natural to me. Recently on a vacation in Hawaii, I attempted to run a mile, and ended up doing three! I’ve been running daily ever since 🙂
Running is like breathing. Happy 33! I’ve been running for 33 years (started at 15) and estimate I’ve run around the world twice!
It clears my mind! Happy birthday!!!!
Happiest Birthday, sweet Jen!! I love to run because it’s the only time I feel like a true athlete!! And I LOVE crazy and brightly colored running shoes! Hope #33 is your best year yet!!
Running is my “me” time. It allows me to reflect and be alone with my thoughts without distractions. I always feel better after a run!
Happy Birthday! I think my favorite part of running is the adrenaline that comes with it!
I love to run because it’s my time to be outside enjoying the fresh air while getting stronger for me and my family!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because I love to feel fast; my speed on the ground doesn’t translate to the speed in my head, but the pulse-pounding, wind-in-my-face feeling is forever a rush.
I love to run because it reminds me to live simply – just put one foot in front of the other and breathe!
Happy Birthday Jen!!! Hope it is a fantastic year for you! I love to run because it is a moving meditation for me.
Happy birthday!!
I love to run because I can do it anywhere. I have a variety of ways to keep myself healthy and working out, but I always come back to running when I’m in a funk.
Happy Birthday! I love running because it is the best stress relief for me and there’s no beating the feeling after a good run!
I love to run to feel good and catch up with friends on runs!
I love running because it is cheaper than therapy!
I love running for so many reasons but the thing I was thinking about while running yesterday was how much inner peace running brings to me. I’m a happier, healthier, more peaceful person because I run.
It’s a great cardio exercise, and I love the feeling after I complete a run.
I love it as a great way to get outside and enjoy the weather and its my time when I think about nothing else, no to-do lists or work or anything, just running and enjoying nature 🙂
I love running as a way to get outside, enjoy beautiful weather, and relieve some stress! The combination of fresh air and the endorphins is great even if I just go on shorter runs!
For the quality time with my dog, Winston!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because it’s a great way to clear my head and get in some cardio. Plus, my parents met at a running race and were avid runners, so running makes me think of them 🙂
Happy Birthday, Jen!! xx
Happy Birthday, Jen!! I love running for so many reasons but one of the biggest reasons is how it makes me feel once I am done. I feel a sense of accomplishment, fresh minded and ready to tackle what ever is ahead of me.
I love to run because it is ALWAYS a challenge and therefore always makes me feel accomplished.
Happy birthday!
I love to run to appreciate my surroundings and community (Charlotte) I live in, on top of the health benefits of course!
Running is basically my social life! And it helps me stay energized and sane. Curious about the Fate update because I thought the first gen was pretty good.
I love running outside to get lost in nature instead of a screen and to alleviate stress as a result of teaching 😉 Happy birthday!!
Happy birthday! I love to run because it clears my mind and I have a great sense of accomplishment at the end!
Happy Birthday! I love to run to clear my head and feel like no matter what else happens I’ve accomplished something good for me that day,
Happy birthday! I run so I can eat whatever I bake 🙂 plus, with a new baby- running is my “me” time!
I love to run for two simple reasons – first, I love being outside! And second I love the way it makes me feel, that runners high! 🙂
Jen ~ Hi!! Happy happy birthday to you! The truth is I just recently started running (past 6 months) and I don’t love it yet, but I’m getting there!! I typically wear Brooks but would love to try out a new shoe and love your site so your recommendation is good enough for me. Have a beautiful day & thanks for sharing with us!!
Happy Birthday!
I love running because of the progress I’ve made over the years. It’s motivating to see how far I’ve come compared to when I first started running.
Happy Birthday! I love to run cuz its time for me to get out of my own head and think about nothing…which is rare in my non-running life.
Happy birthday Jen!!! I hope you had a wonderful day. I love to run because it is such a great stress relief and gives me respite from the “busy-ness” of my day.
I love to run because my daughters love to run and I love them!!!!!!
Hope you are having a terrific birthday! Running is my escape, my sanity check, my thinking time, ME time. A good run gives me a high that last for days.
happy bday ! i love to run because almost nothing feels better than crossing the finish line!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because no matter where I am or what’s going it, it’s the best way to destress and have a little me time. Plus, there’s nothing like a post-run runner’s high!
I love to run because I can do it with my twins in tow in the “jogging stroller” or on my own to stay a healthy, fun mom for my boys as they grow older and see me as a great role model to be active ??
Happy birthday from another June baby! Mine is the 26th! And, running is my “me” time. My time to think and gain perspective.
I love the endorphins and the post-run glow!
I love running because it gives me quality time with my pup!
I love to run because of the running community. It’s so supportive and I never think of it as a competition with others, but as a competition with myself. I’m always striving to improve myself and set new PRs. It’s awesome to have that sense or community when aiming to hit new goals!
I love to run for so many reasons: it’s a great way to see new places and explore outside, it clears my stress and help me think, and it just makes me happy! 🙂
Happy birthday to you!! Have a great day!
Running has been my way to unwind and also get a lot accomplished as well. When I was in college I would figure out most of my homework on my run! Most of the time I just like the escape. It’s fabulous that anywhere you are in the world you can go for a run!
I run for my best friend and running partner, Maggie D. The evil of this world took her MUCH too soon. On June 27, 2014 she crossed the last finish line and left this world. I now run for her, she can no longer physically cross finish lines here so I cross them w her in my heart. I always say despite all of the horrible and nastiness of this world-we can not let the evil win. I live by her life quote “the best is yet to be”… I realized that I could not allow the pain to dictate how I behave, I must rise about it–it’s not about me. It’s for Maggie.
(also happy birthday! Mine was the 13th!) 🙂
Running is my “Me time” and #1 stress reliever! ??
I just got back into running more regularly. It is great way to soak up this amazing charlotte weather, and shake off some of the work day stress! Also, my 1.5 year old dog that I run with LOVES to go for a run – which helps motivate me!
Less that I love to run and more that I WANT to learn how to run haha! Currently 8 months pregnant and hoping to run with baby.
I run for the endorphins!
I run because it is time away from my kids and husband ;-). In turn, it makes me a better mom and wife.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday, Jen! (June birthdays are the best 😉 )
Happy happy birthday! It’s my birthday today too :). I love to run because it’s my happy place! A great stress reliever and makes me feel so strong!
I’m a musician, so practicing and rehearsals require you to be inside. Running lets me get outside and release all of the tension from playing. Running is the only thing that allows me to shut off my brain for awhile! 🙂
Happy Birthday and thank you for a great review! I am currently looking for a new pair of running shoes, so I may try these ones out. I love running because it gives me time to be alone and decompress while enjoying the outdoors. (:
Running is my favorite stress reliever
I run because it keeps me happy, and I want to stay in shape for my baby 🙂
I love to run because it clears my head! Happy birthday from a fellow Gemini:)
Happy Birthday!!
I love running for many reasons but mainly because of the feeling of satisfaction I get when it’s over. There is nothing like a good PR to make you appreciate all the hard work you’ve put in!
Running is as much mental as it is physical. I am currently training for my first marathon this fall and am so excited(and only slightly nervous)!
To have some “me time” away from work and other stress!
I love to run because it gets me out of my comfort zone! Running my first 5K (well, first in the last 10 years anyway) on Sunday!
I love running because of the methodical rhythm of the exercise that can be done anywhere. It is my time to myself, and I love exploring where I live and new places while I run.
Happy Birthday !!! Love to run as meditation …..while listening to my fave podcast
I love to run, running is my favorite! Hehe. But really, it’s the easiest way to feel good. There are so many physical and mental things about a run that are amazing. It’s the best!
Happy birthday!! I love to run to get away/unwind from everyday stress. I’m also a barre instructor so I like to practice my classes while I run ? Hope you have a great day!
I’m in love with running for a multitude of reasons. I guess the first is that is so accessible. No matter where I am in the world, you can easily throw on some running shoes and head out the door. No need to worry about locating a gym and finding the right equipment. Second, would have to be it allows a little self-centered time. It’s the only time in my day where it’s all about me. Not my son, husband, or even the dog… Just me. Lastly is, running is always challenging. You can make a 1 mile run hard or extend into 10 miles. It’s always a workout. AND I really need new running shoes 🙂
Happy birthday!
Quick and efficient calorie burn
I love to run because afterwards I always feel like I’ve gotten a great workout in!
I came to running as a challenge for my 52nd birthday. Today, less than 2 weeks away from my 54th I’m training for my first half. I love running because it’s just me, my body and my thoughts. It brings me fitness, clarity and time all in one package
I love it because it’s just nice to be outside in the summer, and to clear my head.
I love to run because it’s my favorite hobby, exercise, and de-stressor all in one. I like the time to myself to think through problems, work out frustrations, or just enjoy the outdoors.
I love it because it’s an individual sport!
I used to hate running. Like HATE running. But then I gave it a try and found out how much of a stress-reliever it was. Running and hot yoga have completely changed my life – I’m like a new person. I’m currently training for my first 10k this fall. It’s funny that you said you used to only wear Mizuno’s – that’s what I’ve been wearing and so far, I love them. However, my pair is almost worn out and I’ve been on the market for another pair. I’d LOVE to give Newton’s a try. A new pair of shoes would definitely help keep me motivated for my training 🙂
And last but not least, Happy Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday!
I love to run because it’s the best way to get outside and enjoy the Gettysburg Battlefield where I live!
Happy birthday Jen! Love the 30 🙂
I love to run because of the endorphin rush I get. Keeps me totally pumped all day long! Major happiness and I feel so accomplished, warriorlike…
My early morning runs allow me to see the world from a different perspective. I love the quiet, solitude, and sunrises.
I love to run because it makes me feel strong!
Happy Birthday! I love running because I can do it out in nature just about any time and any place.
I love to run because I like setting and accomplishing goals. It’s really exciting to train for months and then set a new PR.
Happy, happy birthday! I hope you have a fun, love-filled day.
I found this quote recently that sums up the myriad reasons I run:
Sometimes I’m running towards.
Sometimes away.
Sometimes to survive.
Sometimes to feel pain.
To vent to my friends.
To play in the rain.
To get so far gone,
I can’t hear my name.
So if anyone calls,
I’m out of the game.
For now,
I’ve gone running.
Happy birthday! I enjoy running because I can be outdoors and it’s an efficient workout. I love how I feel after a good run!
Happy 33rd! Aren’t the thirties the best?!?! I run to be a better mama and wife. I come back energized and ready to love on my family with joy and patience. It’s amazing how it impacts my attitude!
Happy Birthday! I run to help keep my weight stable, I really like desserts!
I love to run because it is my “me moment”. The only time that I can not multitask and have to focus on my feelings. It is how I stayed (semi) sane through grad school.
I love running because it reliefs stress and it’s a workout I can do anywhere, anytime
Happy Birthday! I run for that amazing feeling (aka runner’s high!) after I am done running! It’s also just a great way to clear my mind!
Happy birthday!!! I love running because it gives me time to process thoughts in a healthy way. Also I love that runner’s high 🙂
I love to run because you can do it anywhere at anytime! It requires minimal gadgets and “extras.” The runners high afterwards isn’t bad either!
I love to run because it’s low equipment and a great way to see a new place.
First off, Happy Birthday! I am glad your day so far is going well! I love to run because it is a great stress reliever!
I love to run because it’s FUN, I get to be outside and enjoy the scenery, I can decide if I want music or not, to run alone or with a group, it’s just the greatest form of exercise for me!
I did a demo run when one of our local stores had a Newton rep and I think I may switch, so hoping this giveaway is in my favor 😉
I love to run because it’s always there for me — it doesn’t matter the time or the place, I know that if I need to I can get out and move my body.
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope it was as fabulous as you are! I love to run because it is such an independent sport, yet can be so sociable. Sometimes, I love to run and just be alone with my thoughts, and other times, I feel like running with a good friend to just talk and catch up on life. 🙂
Happy Birthday! I like to run bc it gives me a sense of accomplishment.
That feeling of accomplishment after a run…makes me feel like I can do anything!!
Happiest of birthdays to you friend!! Sounds like you are having a great day. I love running because I can do it anywhere! I don’t need a barbell and plates, I don’t need a machine… All I’ve got to do is lace up my tennis shoes and GO!!
Happy birthday! I love to run because it gives me energy.
To get back in shape after having my second baby in two years!! Happy, happy birthday to you, too 🙂
I love running because it gives me a fresh perspective on everything. Plus it’s a blast and you can eat ice cream afterwards. Happy birthday!
What a fun giveaway! I’ve been looking for a new running shoe, maybe this will be it. I love to run to get the “cobwebs” out of my head. Although I have been running since I was a teenager (off and on thru all those years) I haven’t really been able to call myself a runner until recently. I may not run far or fast but I am a runner, and a happy and better version of myself for it! Have a great Birthday!
Happy birthday! Like to run cause I see good results from it and nice to have some time to myself
I love to run because it’s a great way to start my morning and clear my head.
Happy Birthday!!
Running is a great workout!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because it helps clear my mind, gives me more energy and makes me happy! I feel like I can accomplish so much after a morning run.
I love to run because it helps me with anxiety and is a great “me time” stress reliever! Happy Birthday!
I RUN in Newtons to destress!
It calms me just as yoga does. Plus a run a day allows me to have that glass of wine or cupcake?
Happy Birthday!
Running reminds me of how blessed I am. To be able to get up and move my body. It’s something we tend to forget because we have the ability. Running outside always reminds me to count all the blessings in my life. Big and small.
Happy Birthday, Jen!
Great giveaway by the way! I love running because it helps to keep me healthy and sane. It’s honestly my favorite form of therapy (aside from yoga). Especially since I work a job where I’m sitting and staring at a computer screen for most of the day.
I love to run to get away and have my own time to think. Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!!
I run because it gives me a chance to slow down my mind and enjoy the outdoors 🙂
I love to run for *me* time and listening to my favorite tunes. I’ll make a new playlist which really helps with motivation. I would love my very first pair of Newton’s to go with it. Plus my Birthday is coming-up 😉 haha Cheers!
Happy Birthday!!! I love reading magazines. Santa always stuffs the stockings at Christmas with them!!
Well I never was a “runner” but my daughter did track so for her longer runs on weekends or in off seasons I became her running partner. ( I use that term loosely because she was always ahead of me) I did come to enjoy running and with my time with her coming to a close as college comes nearer, I find I have to become a runner on my own, while sad I just imagine her cheering me on during a tough part of the run. So I guess I love running because its time we spend together, oh and I feel stronger with each run!
Happy Birthday!! I love to run because I feel like I have accomplished something, it makes me feel good, and it helps me reset after a long day!
Thank you!!
Running let’s me get outside and allows me to see the beauty of where I live!
I am not a fast runner, but I love to get outside and use the time to think. I love to prove to myself that I can go further and faster then the time before.
Would love these for my FIRST half marathon!
Training and running races makes me feel accomplished!
I love running to take some time for myself. Decompress, breathe… ME time 🙂
Happy happy happy Birthday Jen!!!!! It sounds like your day is off to a wonderful and loved filled start.
I am just starting my running journey trying to shed the last of the baby weight. what I am loving is having some me time and doing something healthy for myself. I hope I can keep it up and start a healthy habit with running a couple times a week.
Enjoy the rest of your day
I love to run because I can do it anywhere, it helps me manage my stress, i enjoy it, and i always feel like i got a great workout in! Also, happy birthday!
There is nothing like running to clear my constantly running mind!
It keeps me happy. I truly love it. Peaceful and quiet me time for 30 years. Solo until recently – a new found happy. If it doesn’t bring joy you aren’t doing it right ? Happy birthday ?
Happy Birthday! I love to run for many reasons. Running makes me feel strong! I also like how accomplished I feel after a run. Not all runs are fabulous and easy, but those hard runs sure make the easy ones that much better!
It’s my meditation, my me time, and my chance to recharge!
I love to run because it clears my mind and it’s my time to not think about anything at all!
Happy Birthday Jen! Thanks to your recommendation on the Skyfit app I’ve rediscovered a love of running. I can’t wait to see how much stronger I can get. And I definitely need new running shoes!
Happy Birthday Jen!
I love to run… in fact, I’m getting ready to do so right now. Running helps me de-stress from my day. I work in marketing and sometimes I find myself juggling so many things that it tenses me up. Running either before or after work helps keep calm and balanced. I start jogging and the stresses of the day just goes away during, and even after my run. I feel so relaxed afterwards! I’ve been wanting to try Newton running shoes… Just like you, I’ve been having a hard time finding the right fit after a good pair of mine got too worn out to continue running in. Thank you!
Great post! I love to run as it is a true break from all the stress, news, to-do lists, and background noise. It is my time to reprogram and reboot for the day. Would love to give these a shot! I have looked at them online — but this is the best review 😉
Happy birthday! I love to run for the endorphins!
I love to run because it’s me time!
I love running because it makes me feel strong:)
Running is my time to not worry and just relax.
Runners high!
Happy birthday?
My birthday is Saturday and I’m turning 33 too?
I love to clear my head and for some outside time! Would love to try some new shoes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ?
Running is my therapy. No matter what type of day I’m having, going for a run clears my head like nothing else. Running + yoga = heaven!
I love to run because of the flood of good feelings and endorphins it gives me. I never regret going out for a run.
I love running for me! I’m a working mom (like many!) and it is my “me time”. It also puts me in the best mood to take on the day.
I would LOVE a new pair of running shoes! I adore running because it’s free (well, not the races) therapy and something my dad and I have been doing together for years. I’m exited for my daughter to start racing with me soon; at two, she’s already speedy. 🙂 Thank you!
Happy birthday! Running helps keep my energy levels up and keeps me level-headed.
I love to run because it takes my mind off of everything else and it makes me feel strong.
I love the endorphins I get from running! And, as a new Mom of a 4 month old baby it makes me a better Mom (and wife) when I get back!!
Happy Birthday!! Your fiancé sounds so sweet! The dozen roses?! I’m jealous!
I love running because it is cheaper than therapy and it just clears your mind. I love it. All other aspects of my life are better because I run. I’ve wanted to try Newtons for awhile now. I tried them on at a fleet feet and they felt awesome but I couldn’t really run in them there.
I picked up running a couple years ago and haven’t looked back, literally and figuratively! It is such a stress relief, nothing compares to it in the world! I’m a much happier person after a run;) I have a pair of Newtons now that I have put wayyy too many miles on and I would LOVE a new pair! ?❤️
Love to run for so many reasons, but those post-run endorphins might top the list!
I love to run because it’s ME time. Just me and the air, my music and I love it.
Happy birthday Jen! What a sweet fiancé! I love Newtons and find other shoes too heavy! I wear the Kismets but would love to try a different style. I love that running is low maintenance and allows you to mentally check out!! Hope your birthday evening is special!
Happy Birthday!! I love to run to relieve stress and be outdoors.
I like to run to take my exercise outside! Especially with the longer days. Running in the am is the best! 🙂
I love to run because it makes me feel alive and keeps me sane. The crazy days are made more bearable when they start with a run.
I run because I love being outside, have fun pushing myself and its a good de-stress!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because it is so easy to do with my son (who is 16 months old). If it weren’t for running I would never get to exercise!
I run to stay healthy for my kids
Happy Birthday! I love running to clear my head and reduce stress after a long day at work. It also keeps me in shape for my job.
I love running because it’s my quiet place 🙂
I love to run because I feel strong and fit!
Happy Birthday!! 🙂 Hope it was wonderful!
I love to run because it helps me think clearly and feel gratitude for my body and the beautiful world we live in!
I love to run because I feel free! Your class this morning was glorious. Thank you! Happy birthday beautiful lady!
I like to run bc you can do it basically anywhere as long as you have shoes!
I love to run because of how it makes me feel, both mentally and physically. Every time I finish a run I’m reminded of what my body is capable of, and I feel proud of my tired legs, knowing that they’re stronger and better able to help me tackle whatever adventure comes next!
Everything. But the best of the best is the mental healing it gives me. No matter how big or how small, it is so mentally healing!!
Happy birthday, Jen!! I always love reading your blog. ?
Running is my favorite all-around workout – frees my mind, elevates my spirits and gives me time and space to focus on my own health and aspirations. I do the best daydreaming during my runs!
Running is something that keeps me sane! It relieves stress and it just great for my mind.
I love to run because it makes me feel joyful and light hearted!
I run because it makes me completely happy.
I started running to get back into shape after having babies, plus I could put them in the jogging stroller and bring them with me. Now, I run to relieve stress and put myself in a better frame of mind.
I run to appreciate how lucky I am able to run…It makes me realize how fortunate I am to have two strong legs and my health.
I love to run to be outside and challenge myself physically. It’s great to check out mentally and sink into the rhythm of your pace and just GO! When you are dialed in and feeling strong it’s exhilarating.
I love running because it feels so different on my body then my other workouts…. Always a challenge! Happy birthday… I love your blog.
Running has taught me had to dig deep and push myself in a way I never thought possible. Once the thought of running a mile seemed impossible. I completed 26.2 miles!! I can’t wait to do it again.
Happy birthday!
I love running because it quiets my mind and it’s the easiest exercise when I’m on the road!
There’s not much I love more than running. It’s my morning zen and my link to the local running community and some of the best people I have ever met. I love Newton shoes too! Happy Birthday 🙂
I like to run because it’s good exercise and it makes me feel better
I love running because it helps me start my day with something that reminds me how grateful I am to be able to move my body!
I love running because it lets me have some me time, regardless of whatever else is going on in my life.
I love running because it’s a workout you can do anywhere!
I love to run because when I run I feel strong and I don’t really feel that way any other time.
I run because it gives me the freedom to let my mind wander and gets me outside.
Running clears my mind, and my dog loves it, too!
Running to me is peace, stress relieving and also invigorating, freedom and so much more. You learn a lot about yourself on the run – push hard or back off – what do you have that day!?
Happy birthday to you — the best lies ahead!!
Happy birthday!
I love to run because I love to be outside in natural surroundings!
I started running to become healthy for my children. Then my dad passed away, so once I was able to start again, I was able to run to get me through my grief. I’ve been battling a broken toe and tendonitis, but am ready to be healed and back to my routine. Happy Birthday! Today would have been my dad’s 71st bday.
I love running because it’s the main sure-fire way for me to quell my anxiety, and I also love how much more energized I feel on days when I run the morning! It just jumpstarts my day!
Happy Birthday Jen!! 🙂 I love to run because it helps to clear my head!
Happy birthday to you!
I love to run because it helped me with my weight loss after having my son last April. 53 lbs and counting! I feel strong, healthy and fit now because of it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAUTIFUL! I also love giving on my birthday, it feels nice. I love to run because of how powerfully emotional it can be. I’ve had runs that have made me feel on top of the world and some that have forced me to think through some of my biggest challenges. It never gets old!
I love to run because it is a great time to think and a great form of stress relief. It also makes me feel strong!!
I may not be the fastest or longest distance runner out there, but I enjoy it! It’s my escape from the chaos of life’s happenings. And of course I always feel accomplished after a good run… A great self-esteem booster! HBD Jen!
I run for sanity and Zen;) And to wear awesome shoes!!!
Happy Birthday!!!
To find my center
happy birthday!!! i love to run for the uninterrupted conversation and the friendships it has given me over the years~ pure JOY!
I love to run for the relief from stress, the adventure of running in new places, and the running friendships made along the way!
Running is a great way to relieve stress and get some natural endorphins! I also love me some carbs, and running makes sure I still fit into my pants.
Nothing can turn my day around or put me in a better than a run can!!!!
I love running because I feel so happy and awake when I’m done! And I love proving to myself that I am strong 🙂
Running makes me feel free and strong- it’s a workout that allows me to literally let go with every step I take. I feel my own strength–
And the best part, it’s portable!!
Happy Birthday! Thank you for the amazing giveaway! I love the bright colors of the shoes. I love to run because it is a huge stress reliever for me and I love the great feeling after!
Running is meditation for me. Love it!
Happy Birthday! I love to run because all it requires is a good pair of sneakers!
Happy Birthday!
Running is something that I can do no matter where I am and is a complete total body workout and for that I absolutely love it! After running Boston this year I fell out of love with running for awhile but have finally made my way back to my favorite form of exercise with a half marathon on the horizon! Would love to try out Newtons!
I love to run because it makes me feel strong and powerful. In addition, I have a two year old daughter who “runs” with me. I want to instill in her the importance of healthy living.
I like the feeling I have at the end of a race that says, “I did it!”
I love running because it’s my happy place!
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays!
I love to run because it is always a challenge to me. Never boring and no matter how far I run, I always have to push myself to my limit to finish. When I am done, there is nothing like the feeling you get. So I run for that feeling more then anything. In addition, my 10 year old is an amazing runner and is always motivating me to become a better runner. I am not sure I will ever be able to keep up with him but seeing how proud of me that he is when I tell him about my run inspires me to keep going!
I love running because it gets me outside, it’s free, and it can be done anywhere I go! Always enjoy the blog. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! It looks like one for the record books! It’s very nice that you are giving back on your birthday. I like to run as an outlet. It’s an outlet for stress, anxiety, excitement and energy–yup I’m full of a bunch of good stuff and bad stuff! Running helps me keep a healthy balance. I would be totally lost without it!
I need (and love) running in my life to keep me grounded and centered. I also need it to keep my pants from getting too tight which will be harder now that I’m obsessed with your dad’s granola! Hands down the best treat in our house! ??
I love running because it helps me clear my head and generally makes me a happier, more productive person! Happy Birthday!
I actually hate running. But I feel great afterwards and it’s good for my dogs so we go! It’s also one of the only ways I get to enjoy nature regularly.
Happy birthday!! Running is my therapy. It gives me time to be alone and process my thoughts.
It’s my “me time”… Helps me clear my mind.
eek bad friend alert! I kept meaning to text you yesterday to wish you happy birthday and never did it! I’m sorry! I hope it was a wonderful day!
I’ve been wanting to try Newtons for YEARS but have never bought them because I’m so wary of the lugs! I’m about due for a new pair of shoes and I would LOOOOOVE to win these!!! 🙂
I love running because it brings out the best in me – my thoughts flow clearly, I love the outdoors, it boosts my mood, and I just don’t feel like myself without it in my life!
Love you lady!
I actually don’t enjoy running but feel great afterwards! It is a great way to mix up my workouts.
I love to run because it keeps me fit and healthy.
I love to run because I get to run with my beautiful wife.
I love to run because my kids are starting to get into it as well.
Ah, running, how I love thee, let me count thy ways! 😉 Running for me is all about ….me. No comparison to other athletes, just trying to better myself and beat my previous race times. A PR to me is just that…a PERSONAL record! Happy Birthday, hope you have a lovely weekend!
i love to run because it’s my time to relax and unwind!
Running is my “me time”. With two busy boys and a full time job, Mommy needs a sanity-saver! Happy birthday!!!!
Happy birthday!
I usually don’t respond but I really enjoy your writings and I am officially sold on Newtons! You have taken the time and energy to break it down in a way I was looking for- thank you!!
I am running the Chicago marathon in October on behalf of the National psoriasis foundation and I am getting all of my gear and plan mapped out. Shoes was the last thing!
I like to run for others- psoriasis is important to me so I thought R would be a great cause to run for!
Thanks for all you do!
I ebb and flo with my running, but I know I’m stressed when the only thing that feels right is to go for a run no matter how slow it is. It’s so great for mental health.
Running is a big stress reliever for me!
Running is my sanctuary from the daily grind!
I love to run to clear my head and make time for me! 🙂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I’m a yogi first, a HIIT and running enthusiast second and need my strength and running workouts to make my life complete! I love the challenge of using the mental focus and strength I practice on my mat in my running workouts. I love to get outside, breathe and experience nature. I get some toe joint pain and have been wanting to try Newtons for a while because of the extra support!
So glad you found newtons! I found newtons at a run clinic I went to about 4 years ago. I hated running because I was having so much IT pain. That day I ran in 6 pairs of shoes trying different brands out.I finally found the Newton terra momentum and it made all the difference! I would love to try some of their other styles, but let’s face it! Shoes are expensive. Thanks for doing this giveaway.
It makes me feel amazing!
I love to run to clear my head and get my heart rate going!
I love to run because it makes me feel strong and helps clear my mind on days when my thoughts won’t slow down!
I love to run because it makes me feel strong. I always start my day with a 6-8 mile run and the amount of power and greatness I feel after completing my runs make me feel like I can tackle anything that comes my way. Running for me is a stress reliever and a motivator for more and more life.
I love to run, especially outdoors to clear my head. Great stress release.
I love to run to clear my head and spend time with myself 🙂
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
I loved your post recently about your relationship with running. I relate! For years during high school cross country and track, college, and after college, running was all I did with some other stuff sprinkled in. Now I love barre classes and just walking but I am starting to miss running. I have been considering doing the Charlotte half marathon this fall. Reading everyones posts about running is making me bite the bullet!
Gets all the junk and emotions out that I have kept inside. My time to think and reconnect.
I took an extended break from running and started cycling but here recently I’ve started running again. I enjoy the simplicity of running. I can just put on my shoes and run from my house or go to a trail nearby. I like how I can clear my mind and de-stress on a run.
I really hate running when I am doing it, but I LOVE the feeling after!
Happy Birthday!! I love to run early in the morning because it energizes me for the rest of the day and helps get the day started on a positive note.
Clear my head, relax!
I love running and I also love my Newton running shoes!!
Happy 33rd Jen!
After sitting at my desk for most of the day, I love to get out and run in my neighborhood or by the lake in Austin. I always feel a sense of accomplishment. 🙂
I don’t love to run but do it because the benefits outweigh sitting on the couch. Moving meditation, cardio fitness, smelling the breeze and listing to the world around me.
Happy belated birthday!
I’m not at the point where I run yet (I walk/awkwardly jog) but I’m hoping to run my first 5k before then end of the year. I love it because it’s so rewarding! You’re doing so much good for your body, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I love to run because running is the time my mind is quiet in the midst of life’s craziness. Running always humbles me because I am pushed to a new limit each time my feet hit the pavement. Running is a mental sport. I love the self discipline required to perservere through when it hurts. Running teaches the human spirit that we are all capable. The hardest step to running is the first one out the front door. No matter how slow we go, we are still going. We are still reaching for the next step.
I love to run to clear my head, alleviate anxiety and overall it makes me a better healthier mom to my twins (1 year old today!)!
Happy Birthday! I love running because it’s a great stress reliever and a good way to burn some calories! Newtons are great shoes and I would love to win a pair! ?
I loved your post a few weeks back about your relationship with running. I feel the same way. For a long time it was my favorite and pretty much only form of exercise… run, run, run! The past few years I have loved other things like long walks and barre classes. A few months ago when I found out my mom has cancer, running was there for me yet again. I went out that day for a run., letting the tears pour out while I ran. I have missed it and need to get back into it! SO… thanks for your posts about running recently. I also loved reading all of the comments. It has inspired me and I am going to go sign up for the Charlotte half in november.. .eeek! Happy Birthday and thank you for all you do for the fitness community in charlotte and online!
Oops just saw my post from this morning (#303) actually did post… my computer froze so I thought it didn’t go through! So just count one of my posts… Sorry! 😉
I love to run because it allows me to see things I wouldn’t normally see while driving. It’s a way of paying attention to the small things while freeing my mind of the big things!
Running helps me de-stress and also focus. My head is always in a better place afterward!
Running helps me unwind and think.
I first started running in high school by joining the cross country team my freshman year. I honestly had no idea what it entailed, but i kept at it for the rest of high school due to the camaraderie. After high school, I learned to love running for me time, endorphins, stress relief, learning new cities, and I love that you can do it anytime and anywhere.
I haven’t been much of a runner in the past but this summer it’s my goal to become one! I have been incorporating running more and more into my walks and now that’s the majority of what I do. Thanks for this awesome giveaway…these shoes look great : )
I love running because it clears my mind and is the best stress buster!
I love running because it is a time for me to reflect on my day or week and also a chance to give my energetic Weimaraner pup some exercise!
I love to run because it clears my head! I never listen to music, I just listen to my thoughts and my breathing. I have worked out many conflicts this way 🙂 I also love to do sprints because I love the strength I feel in my legs when I’m giving it 100%!
Oh my gosh…running…there’s too much to say. It’s changed my life for the better and it will continue to be a major part of my daily routine. LOVE Running!
Happy birthday! I love running because it provides me with mental clarity and inner peace. I’m a trail runner and appreciate being amongst the nature and mountains of Boulder, CO.
I like to say I run to exercise the dog, she run everywhere with me, but really its for my own sanity!
Happy Birthday!! I love to run because it’s tough, fun and can be done (almost) anytime or anywhere. Thanks for the great giveaway 🙂
Happy belated birthday! It looks like it was good one!:). I love running because I usually run with my friends. There’s just nothing like conquering a hard run with the people you love.
Happy, happy birthday! I love to run because of the physical and mental freedom I feel while running.
I run because it makes me feel good – both physically and mentally!
Running is time when I am alone and allow time for me to generate some of my best ideas. On the other hand, I love running distance because after about mile 6 my brain finally shuts up for a while and I can just cruise in peace.
I love to run because I feel like I can do anything after I’ve accomplished a hard run (for me) in the early morning.
I love to run because it makes me feel strong and it’s a good way to catch up with friends!
Running makes me feel alive! and grateful that I am able to Run!
I love running because I get to challenge myself, accomplish something, and LOVE IT! It makes me feel better physically and mentally. Basically I get all the good feelings when I run! 😉
I love to run because it wears my rambunctious puppy out.
I run to help me clear my head and de-stress!
Happy birthday! I like to run to keep my heart healthy 🙂
I love running because of the awesome calorie burn!
Hey Jen! I’m a new reader, just found you last night and I’m enjoying your site. I love running for several reasons. 1) Too keep me feeling young! 2) To see my neighborhood outside of a car. 3) To inspire my 10 year old daughter that exercise is important, and TV and the iPad is not the whole world 🙂 4) It feels so great when it’s over! Happy B-Day BTW, my wife loves to celebrate her BD all week too!
Running is tough, but the endorphin rush afterward makes it so worth it! Thanks for offering this great giveaway!
I love the variety! Fast vs. slow, flat vs. hilly, hard vs. easy, long vs. short, good vs. bad!
I love to run to clear my head and boost my mood! It feels so good after a nice long run!
I love running for stress relief! I always feel 10x better after a mindless run! Happy Birthday Jen!
I love running for the sense of accomplishment you achieve. I love the freedom and independence it gives you, you are the only one who can complete the miles.
Happy (late!) birthday!!
I love running because it makes me feel healthy and strong.
Happy birthday!!! Love this promo as I love my Newtons and am in need of a new pair soon! So…I like running because I love the way I feel after a long run and clearing my head of all of the noise during the run.
I love to run because I like to sweat, be outside, and move my body!
Happy birthday. Running is when I catch my breath and it feels amazing, I have only run in Nike shoes so I would like to try a new brand. Thanks Jen.?
I love to run to get outdoors and clear my mind. Happy (belated) birthday!
Happy Birthday! Sounds like a wonderful day & week! I’ve always felt my strongest and best self when I’m running. Whether it be for soccer, field hockey or just training for a half, it just feels better than when I’m not. (Even when the run isn’t particularly a great run!) I changed over to Newton’s a few years ago after my Brooks (that I had been using for years) were giving me incredible toe pain about 4 miles into a 1/2 in DE. I got off the plane and drove straight to the running store and picked up a pair of Newtons and haven’t looked back! Even if I don’t win, I learned about the new Fate model (I hadn’t heard!) and got to recollect a sweet running memory! Hope your bday celebrations continue over the weekend!
I started running when I was 15 to escape a not so pleasant home life. The freedom, mood elevation, and clarity I received on those runs were priceless. I had no idea at the time that it was such a positive way to handle what was going on in my life. Unfortunately, I also did some not positive things to cope as well:-( I have continued to enjoy those feelings I get from running for the past 24 years now! It’s my meditation. It makes me a better wife, mother, friend, etc. I have volunteered many seasons coaching youth running programs. If my story can help inspire some young person choose a positive outlet for whatever challenges they may face I will feel like my mission has been accomplished.
So,basically running is good for me and I hope it makes a positive impact on others around me.
Long ago, running used to be about energy, perseverance, and also good ole exercise to me, but ten years later, three babies and a full time job, my exercise routine fell by the wayside. I talked of my running goals and desire to get healthy again, but it wasn’t until last fall that a true friend encouraged me to set out and make time for something I had always wanted to do. Together we signed up for my first half marathon and started training. In 4 months, thanks to her encouragement and accountability, I went from not being able to run a mile to running 9 miles in 19 degree sleet. We had some awesome long runs on Saturday mornings together, and I realized I felt so much more energized than I had in years. We ended up running two different half marathons in February, and I have never felt stronger or more determined in my life. I bought my first pair of newtons after my second race, and although my training hasn’t had many long runs lately, the Fate is my new shoe. I feel so refreshed and invigorated after a run. I love the way it clears my head and inspires me to see the beauty all around me.
Happy birthday! I love to run because it makes me feel so strong and like my body can do anything.
Happy Birthday! I run for the accomplished feeling I have after and for the fresh air!
I run to clear my head of all the negative stuff that may have happened during the day and just to enjoy the feeling of being able to go outside and feel my body moving.
Running stole my heart years ago and I continue to love it for the same reasons today– though I do other types of workouts and enjoy them, nothing makes me feel the same magical combination of strength, speed, and freedom that a good run does. I’d love to try the Newtons!
Happy birthday!!! I love running/walking because I love to be outdoors!
It’s “me” time!!!
I love running, yoga, lifting, and doing just about anything active, but running is the most meditative form of exercise for me. Just being able to zone out at let everything go makes the most incredible environment for prayer and growth: physical, emotional, and spiritual. Simply put, I feel God’s presence most when I run!!
I love running because it makes me feel strong, you can see improvements so quickly (with speed and how it feels), it gets me outside, and it gives me an excuse to listen to music!
I love running because it always makes me feel so accomplished! It’s such a mental challenge to go on long runs so I feel awesome when I finish!
I love to run (in Newtons!) to feel strong and healthy!
Because it’s how I find zen when my head is an anxious mess. Hope your birthday was lovely!
Happy Birthday!! I love running for too many reasons to name, but it’s a great way to exercise, release, enjoy the outdoors, workout while traveling, make a bad day better or a good day great!
I love to run for ME! Since having my daughter, running has been a way to help me feel like myself again and not just as a new mom!
Happy belated birthday, Jen! I love running because of all of the new friendships I’ve formed. I used to always prefer running alone until I found Back On My Feet and a few other awesome running buddies. I love the sense of community!
I love to run for a sense of belonging. After taking 15 years off I started up again. Thanks to my new running friends I have finally felt a sense of belonging.
Happy Birthday Jen! Glad to hear it was so special 🙂
I love to run because it’s time to myself to think and clear my head. And I love trail running because I get to see new scenery that I normally wouldn’t see!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Running is the ultimate high- and I love it for the oppotunity it gives me to catch up with friends and my husband. Many problems are solved on the trails
I run to manage anxiety, OCD, and PPD. I love my little girl more than life itself, but I need that time to myself to be a good momma and a better person.
I love Newtons, and happy belated birthday.
Happy birthday! I love to run to add cardio to my strength workouts!
I love that running can make me prove myself wrong. It can banish all self doubt.
i love running because it clears my mind
i love that running is one of the most “portable” bodyweight exercises you can do! obviously a good sports bra, hydration system, garmin, etc. is helpful/fun, but really, as long as you have shoes, you can run!
I love to run because it’s time I’m taking for ME! I listen to my favorite comedy/pop culture podcasts while I run, which makes it feels double wonderful!
I love to run because it’s usually the only time during the day that’s just for me.
Happy Birthday Jen! 🙂 I love to run because I love setting goals and challenges, and teaching myself discipline.
Happy Birthday week, Jen! I love to run as a way to add endurance and cardio to my strength training sessions. I don’t do much super long distance running anymore and focus mostly on interval training. I love the strength I’ve developed from switching up my workouts over the years!
I love running because you get out of it what you put into it – a great metaphor for life! Happy birthday!
Running is such a good stress reliever for me! Happy birthday!
Happy (belated) Birthday!
There are so many reasons why I love running, and it is so nice to read all the reasons why other people run.
For me, it’s something that I do for solely for myself. It’s allowed me to overcome quite a few fears and build self-belief and confidence in my capabilities. At some point, everyone in my family has run and for a variety of reasons and it’s a nice connection we have with each other.
I love running because it is the best stress reliever in the world to me!
I started running in college to get back into shape and for stress relief and fell in love! After several half-marathons, one full and a 50K and starting grad school…I’m still running to relieve stress. And because it gives me great legs! ?
Running is a challenge for me and I’ve enjoy pushing myself (and the baby stroller)!
Happy birthday!!! I love newtons, they’re the best. I run because it makes me feel so good, and I’ve made such good friends.
i love that i feel great afterwards
i love that it is something that I can do with my daughters.
I run because it makes me feel powerful and independent. If I can run five miles then I can do anything!
To spend time outside with my pup!
I love to run because it’s time to clear my head, it’s a great way to sort through anything that’s been on your mind – it’s that time alone to process, to think, to clear your mind and feel refreshed afterwards! Obviously great exercise too and love including it in my routine!
