Hope it’s been a great weekend for everyone! It’s been a very sweaty weekend over here. I taught two hot yoga classes on Saturday, took a hot yoga class and met a friend for a run with temps in the 80s (I had those lovely salt crystals on my face after the run). And today I taught a hot class and then taught an hour and a half of cardio strength at the Y.
I need to put some major focus on hydration for the rest of today and tomorrow. All of this activity has left me hungry. I made sure to get some extra calories in yesterday with carrot cake cupcake! π
Thank you so much for all of your entries in the “Your Date with Fitness” giveaway. The randomly selected winner is comment 169, Grace. She had a great response.
“Itβs funny because my grandmother always did dates with peanut butter rolled in sugar as a holiday treat. Now I do the same minus the added sugar for an awesome afternoon energy boost!”
Here is my weekly workout recap. It was a strong week for me.
Monday
Hot yoga
I usually take Mondays as an easy yoga day to start off the week on a good note and recover from any weekend workouts.
Tuesday
3 mile run + 60 medicine ball partner toss sit ups with a client (love these)
Wednesday
Strength
5 rounds:
Sled Push (100# sled)
10 GHD Sit Ups
5 rounds:
15 Back Squats (75#)
10 Kettlebell Swings (35#)
10 Push Press (20# dumbbells)
3 rounds:
15 Deadlifts (75#)
25 Double Unders
I actually got all of this done in like 20-25 minutes. I was majorly crunched for time so it made for an intense but short workout.
Thursday
Upper Body + Hot Yoga
I did this upper body workout that I posted earlier this week…and was sore for two days after!
Friday
3.5 mile run
I spent the whole day in the car driving to the mountains and back to check out potential yoga retreat locations and desperately needed to move my body when I got home. I had a nice little sunset run that felt so easy and good.
Saturday
Hot Yoga + 6 mile run
I met a friend for a run and she majorly pushed me! I felt like I had run a half marathon after this 6 miler!
Sunday
Taught a circuit training class and a cardio strength class at the Y. I’ll post the cardio strength workout this week!
What was your sweatiest workout of the week? How do you make sure to rehydrate well after tough workouts?
Sounds like an awesome week of workouts! The sweatiest workout I did included a row, lots of kettlebell work, and a run after!
My favorite way to rehydrate after an extra sweaty workout is with some pineapple coconut water. I don’t quite like the taste of plain coconut water but the addition of pineapple juice makes it really tasty.
love kettlebells! π i like coconut water too but actually prefer it plain and not flavored! π
Sweatiest workout was yesterday…I did a 45 min indoor cycle workout + upper body and core workout. My core is SORE, but it feels good to be doing more strength training after the half marathon.
i hear you. sometimes it feels good to focus on a different goal but i always love coming back to strength training.
Sounds like a great week. I did a sweaty run today. 10 miles. I hydrate during and actually did some watered down Gatorade today. Iced tea and lots of wTer this afternoon. I really want a margarita tonight but I said no.
nice job on 10 miles tara! that’s awesome. you have good willpower to say no to the margarita! π
I had a surprisingly awesome week of workouts too! A few good runs (with my parents!), met a blogging friend for a great strength workout and did yoga. Today I did your super set workout! I did the plank of the day in between sets π
that is the sweetest thing ever that you ran with your parents! i LOVE that! thank you so much for trying my superset workout and i did my plank of the day between sets too! π
I did one of your strength workouts this morning. Definitely going to feel it tomorrow!
awesome! thanks so much for trying my workouts. hope you’re not too sore! π
You have an awesome body, first of all! Secondly, I love weight training as well! π
thanks girl! i love lifting, i think it makes the biggest changes in your body! and it just feels good π
I like your blog because I feel it is balanced and not about losing weight or over exercising. I feel that you are really honest (I hope) in what you say. I wish that I could be more balanced..
thanks!
Thanks so much for reading! Intuitive eating and exercising is definitely a practice.
I did a super sweaty class which was appropriately called HIRT – lots of kettlebell squats, lunges, deadlifts & core work. It seems i have the core strength of a day old kitten but working on it.
Love coconut water & nuun to rehydrate & im also a super salty sweater.
Sounds like a great workout!
It’s a toss-up between a 10k run and a 45-minute Pound Workout. I usually just rehydrate with water, but am looking into more rehydration drinks as I start running further distances
You can’t go wrong with lots of water, but some electrolytes definitely help, too!
I took my Krav Maga Level 1 test this past weekend, which involved four long hours of fighting with a lot of burpees, push-ups, sit-ups, and squats sprinkled in. We only got one 15-minute break about halfway through. It was brutal, and I am still seriously sore and bruised, but I passed! π
Sounds intense! What’s Krav Maga?
Last week was sadly un-sweaty for me. I’m back this week after my ankle sprain/ foot cut has been cleared for the doctor!
The lack of running did leave me time to get together my entire garden for the season! holla!
So sorry you hurt your ankle! I’m glad to hear you’ve been cleared to run again.
What a great week of workouts! I always challenge myself to drink my whole water bottle on my way home from the gym so I know I’m hydrating properly. I drink a ton of water as is, but sometimes it’s hard to remember to drink even more after a tough workout. I also loooooove coconut water after a hot summer run – it’s pretty much the best thing ever!
Coconut water is one of my favorite ways to rehydrate! Tons of electrolytes.
I did that Upper Body Super Set Workout on Thursday after my cardio and it was really that extra push I needed to do a full-on workout when I otherwise would have slacked and done a few minutes of abs and called it a day. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it! I was seriously sore for three days after focusing on upper body like that.
YAY so glad to hear that I won the “Your date with fitness” (especially considering my normally terrible luck)! Do I need to do anything to receive the giveaway? Thanks so, so much for the chance and the amazing prize in advance.
I did your 1,000 rep workout (and convinced my boyfriend to join me) today and I can already feel it. We were beyond sweaty!
So glad you liked the workout! I will email you for your information regarding the giveaway. Congrats on winning!
