I love Sunday evenings. I don’t spend them dreading Monday and all the things that the week has to hold but instead enjoy the opportunity to relax and decompress a bit from the weekend.
But enough about Sunday – since I’m running a day behind, I owe you the Saturday recap.
I taught the complimentary yoga class at lululemon on Saturday morning. I love that they offer this to the community. This was actually my first time teaching in-store yoga and it was a nice way to start the day.
I made a stop by the Charlotte Regional Farmer’s Market on my way home and picked up some fruits and veggies for the week – peaches, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, zucchini, tomatoes, pink eyed peas and eggplant.
When I got home I headed out for a hot, sweaty and pain-free run. This makes TWO WEEKS of pain-free running so I am very hopeful. Having patience and laying off of running for six weeks is paying off.
I refueled with a green smoothie and then planted myself on the couch for the rest of the afternoon to get some work done. Over the course of the afternoon I had apple slices with peanut butter, pretzel sticks and a Starbucks soy latte.
We had plans to go to the first Panthers pre-season game and I wanted to eat dinner before heading out (I did not trust my stadium options). I made a salad and topped it with one of the black-eyed pea cornbread cakes that I made earlier this week.
And of course right when we left it started raining. Sigh…rather than be in a bad mood about it, I just put my rain jacket on, rolled up my jeans and drank a beer. Brandon was so excited about the game that I just had to be a good sport.
Just look at him, like a kid on Christmas Eve! 😉
I was actually very impressed to see some improvements in food and beverage offerings at Bank of America Stadium. There were more healthy food options and craft beers.
They just opened a new market this year that sells all kinds of healthy fare like sushi, salads, sandwiches and wine.
Brandon actually spotted this and called me over to take a picture. There was a quinoa and roasted veggie salad. Who would have ever thought we’d see that at an NFL football game!?
The rain stopped after the first quarter and I was able to shed my rain jacket and poncho. It was fun to see the old starters and new rookies play. And the Panthers won! After only winning two games last season, it was nice to start the pre-season with a win.
Do you like NFL football? I am a big UGA football fan but I’m less enthusiastic about the NFL. Mainly because if I spend Saturday watching college football, I don’t want to spend all day Sunday watching it too. But if I had to pick an NFL team, it would be the Panthers!
Would anyone be interested in writing a guest post for me this week? Like in the next day or two? If so, please e-mail me at peanutbutterrunner (at) gmail (dot) com.
I prefer NCAA football. Roll Tide 🙂
i agree but go dawgs! 😉
My boyfriend and I are UGA fans as well! Not so much into NFL, but we have been talking about heading out to a Panthers game this year… Glad you had a good time, despite the rain!
go dawgs! 😛
panthers games are fun!
Over the past couple of years my friends have gotten me really into NFL football! I never thought I would see the day haha It’s just so fun to have everyone gathered round, drinking beer, sometimes eating pizza, and rooting for our teams. (I decided I’m an Eagles fan)
haha – i love that you “decided” that you’re an eagles fan. 🙂
i love the social aspect of watching football!
I’ll enjoy watching a Patriots game now and then. But deep down I’m a hockey fan through and through. Go Bruins! 😛
I’ve noticed at Fenway Park that they’re trying to get into healthier items too. To me though, a baseball game is not complete without a Fenway Frank and a beer.
yayy for painfree running!!!!!!! that is AWESOME! you are motivating me to take running out of the equation for a while and just let myself heal!!
emily – i would really recommend it. it’s the only way your body can really heal itself and it’s so nice to come back to it refreshed and with no pain.
My boyfriend is a huge football fan, I see a lot of games in my future… I better become a fan!
Sunday night yoga sounds awesome 🙂
Sounds like a great time! That’s great that they provide complimentary yoga classes. There’s a yoga studio here that does that on Sundays and it’s really nice because a lot of people that normally wouldn’t (or couldn’t) come show up and have a great time.
You would *never* see a salad like that at any of the football games here! I’m glad there are starting to be healthier choices available nowadays. Times are a changin’ :]
I love football!! The Detroit Lions won their first preseason game too!!!
our old quarterback from UGA is there – stafford! 🙂
I am so thrilled to hear you are running pain-free! I know how happy that makes you 🙂
I love the Giants, but I know we’re going to have a rough season this year. You’re awesome for braving the weather and going to the game. We stayed home and watched it on TV b/c we’re wimps!
thank you. i am really excited to be running a little bit! 🙂
i had fun at the game because i just decided that i was okay with the rain and was going to have fun anyway. it was a great atmosphere since it was the first game and a satruday night.
Yay for a pain-free run! I don’t run as much as you, but recently had to lay low on the running because of injury. It is exhilarating when you can finally come out of that. Congrats.
Gotta love a Carolinas fan!
