Here is the continuation of the last post with a look at family, presents and dessert. We had a great time exchanging gifts. It’s always so much more fun when there are little ones to buy for and play with!
My grandmother is ridiculously talented at gift wrapping. She even does all of her own bows and is so creative.
My grandmother and I have been exchanging this same gift bag for over 10 years. Each year we alternate who gets to take it home. This year mine was full of fun stuff like lip gloss and nail polish.
OPI’s top ten. I’ve already broken into this today and painted my nails Alpine Snow (top left).
It didn’t tak long for the living room to become complete chaos. It was pretty awesome.ย
My grandmother was way excited to receive a Neato robotic vacuum cleaner. We got it all set up this morning and it’s been circulating the downstairs all day. The dogs aren’t quite sure what to think.
My grandmother gave me an adorable hat and scarf that just happend to match my outfit along with beautiful pearl studs for all the girls in the family. ๐
And I gave her an Erin McDermott disk necklace that’s stamped “love you to the moon.”
Why play with your toys when it’s more fun just to sit on the box? This is literally where she wanted to stay and play all night.
After all the gifts were open we moved onto dessert. I baked Ina Garten’s Apple, Pear and Cranberry Crisp. It was perfect warm out of the oven with a scoop of ice cream.
And my dad made his famous red velvet cake. I don’t think we’ve had a Christmas without if for as long as I can remember.
Such a happy evening. ๐ ๐ ๐
Awe, it looks like you had an amazing Christmas! I love all the OPI colours, they are so fun to experiment with. I can’t believe I’ve never tried red velvet cake before, it feels like it should be something everyone has at least tried.
Love all the OPI color options! Large, chaotic family holidays really are what it is all about.
My grandma’s wrapping is always the best too! I love all of those OPI polishes – I’m a sucker for girlie gifts.
The crisp looks so good… any recipe from Ina is awesome ๐
LOVE red velvet cake! You know that Costco makes a pretty darn good red velvet cake? I know I know, but sometimes their baked goods are REALLY good. ๐ What a thoughtful gift to give your grandmother. XOXO
Aw, I love the necklace you gave your grandma – so sweet! <3
I received a similar OPI nail polish sample set last year–love it! There are so many mini-bottles that my sister and I split them. Sharing is caring, right? ๐
Haha I can just picture a dog’s reaction to a robotic vacuum cleaner. And I love the necklace you gave your grandmother! When I was little, my dad and I used to say “I love you to the moon and back” when we’d tell each other good night.
I’m also a fan of the sparkly sweater…So pretty and festive!
Your grandmother reminds me so much of my own- brings back great memories! She had a small Christmas tree that she put on a small table as well and it was the cutest thing ever and so much more practical. I love the idea of you two exchanging the same gift bag back and forth each year. That’s definitely something I want to start doing with my younger sister or mom. You look great as always (not to sound creepy), and I’m glad you had such a nice evening!
Home really is where the heart is!
Food looks delicious, I’m definitely going to give the mac & cheese recipe a whrl.
Oh, and the hat your grandma made is too cute!
So lovely! I spent this Xmas with no family so you should call yourself fortunate ๐
Christmas is so much better when little ones around! That red velvet cake looks so moist and decadent!
How fun! I have always wondered how one of those robotic vacuum cleaners would work with a dog! Glad you are having a merry Christmas with your family ๐
