I loved hearing how you beat the blahs. I also loved how many responses I got about pets improving your mood. I type this as Sullie has her head in my lap and is looking at me with “pat me” eyes. (Or maybe she’s just begging for the peanut butter toast that I’m eating! ;))
I took this picture of her at lunch today after I had received some not good news. Her sweet face always cheers me up and aren’t her furry paws just ridiculous!?
I slept in until 7:30 this morning. (Enjoying it while it lasts…I’m going to start teaching a 5:40 a.m. on Wednesdays in a couple weeks. Yes, I have lost my mind. Ca-razy!)
And had a green monster at my desk when I arrived at work. Ice, vanilla soy milk, vanilla protein powder, blueberries, strawberries, chia seeds, spinach and half of a banana. And can we please take a moment to appreciate the owl clock on my desk? It’s been living there since I got back from Jamaica. It magically appeared and I’m just waiting to pass it on to the next vacation victim. “Why does it feel like somebody’s watching me?”
Lunch was a veggie sandwich. Whole wheat, hummus, cucumbers, sundried tomatoes, tomatoes and spinach. After I ate I took pictures of Sullie, vacuumed and cleaned the sink and toilet…because that’s how I needed to channel my energy. I felt much better after cleaning and reading your comments on Facebook about things that were making you happy today. Thank for being awesome blog readers this week.
I ran after work and it was HOT but fabulous. I was just happy to be out there. I covered 3.5 miles in 35 minutes – 8:34 pace. I was huffing and puffing up the hills. I came home and quickly rinsed off and changed clothes to head to Y2. I taught hot vinyasa tonight and it was super warm in the room. These 90 degree days are really heating up the studio and taking hot yoga to a new level! 😉 Tonight’s class was extra interesting because my teacher/the owner of the studio took my class…and I was nervous. Even though I have been teaching for years now I still get so nervous when teachers that I look up to take my classes. Silly, I know.
Late dinner of an egg scramble with all kinds of veggie goodness. Two organic eggs, sundried tomatoes, diced tomato, squash, onion, spinach, mushrooms, feta and basil out of the garden.
And it’s bedtime. I have a long day tomorrow and an early wake up call.
1. Your dog is the cutest little thing ever!
2. Holy crap you have nice arm muscles…what does your workout look like?!
3. You are crazy for running in this heat!
oh my gosh laura, i have been meaning to do a post about arm toning for EVER. i am just having a hard time getting around to it!!!!!! it’s a mix of bodypump and a million chaturangas in yoga. i mostly credit the weight training though!
I totally had an egg scramble tonight too. Delicious.
I meant to write this on your post yesterday but something that should cheer you up is that my boyfriend LOVES to talk about your blog. Not that he has ever read it.. one day I was telling him about one of your posts so now anytime I talk about blogging or running races he always asks if the peanut butter runner was there. I think he just likes the name of your blog but either way its quite funny how often your blog comes up in our every day conversations!
hahaha – that is awesome ashley! definitely brought a big smile to my face. 😛
boys are silly about our blogs!
5:40 am class?!?!?! You are dedicated! Love your dog and think your arms look fantastic in that picture!
Holly – dedicated…or just plain crazy! 😉
Love the blog- what camera do you use?
Nikon D3100
Thanks- my camera fell out of my accidentally-open bike trunk on a ride so looking into new ones.
Your pup is so stinking cute! I bet that run felt great. As much as I loathe running in the heat sometimes it makes running feel so detoxifying. It is like you get to reset.
me too – i love a good sweat…thus my addiction to hot yoga!
I LOVE SADIE!! She is actually THE CUTEST dog ever!! And ouch a 5.40 am class?! You ARE crazy and I love it!! 😀
P.S. Next week I will be taking my first hot yoga class, inspired by none other than the PBR! I can’t wait! 🙂
YAY HOT YOGA!!!!! I can’t wait to hear what you think!
I hope you’re feeling better today, Jen! And oh my, Sullie does have the furriest paws I have ever seen. Too cute 🙂
thank you so much, jen! and yes…she is too cute for her own good.
That egg scramble looks AMAZING! I am definitely trying one tonight!
they are one of my favorite easy “desperation” dinners. just throw whatever you’ve got in there!
I wake up at 5AM in the summer (on most days) to run. It’s tough getting out of bed but once I get moving I’m OK!
You barely sweat 🙂 You should have seen me post-run this morning. I was disgusting! Oh, the joys of summer running.
haha – i’m a serious sweater in general. i am amazed by people who don’t sweat much – especially in hot yoga. it confuses me! 🙂
Those paws are so precious!
And your lunch and dinner both look delish.
Hey Jen,
I hope you’re doing better and have a smile on your face. I was fighting the blahs yesterday too (big time!) It’s frustrating when you can’t exactly pinpoint it. However, those days are few and far between (thankfully!)
Sullie is so stinkin’ cute!! Dogs are the best!!
See ya in class this weekend!
I’ve never been a huge egg person but you make the egg scramble look like something to behold. Behold, and then eat of course 🙂
I totally feel you on the fear factor of having well established teachers come to your class. Nothing makes my head spine and my heart race more before a yoga class than when a really good teacher waltzes in moments before I start teaching.
Everyone gets the blahs, I think its admirable that you’re sharing that on the blog; it can be difficult to go ‘full disclosure’ with the less-than-shining moments in your life but I think its great that you’re upfront about it.
