Today is the best kind of birthday.
Because it’s Sullie’s! To be honest, I didn’t even remember until I got to work this morning and realized the date but luckily I had her with me so I’ve been trying to give her extra love and attention today. And yes…I realize that she has no clue that it’s her birthday but it’s special to me. She’s 7! I cannot believe it. I feel so happy that she’s still healthy, active and sweet as ever.
I took her on a little shopping spree to Pet’s Mart to spoil her with some birthday goodies. She got two new toys, duck and pumpkin treats, a new bone and peanut butter for filling the bone. She says that’s a pretty sweet birthday to her.
Believe it or not this is progress over my former craziness. I used to bake her cakes (which clearly she was thrilled about). 😆 I do have to say that I’ve never thrown her a party though. I do draw the line somewhere.
I’ve been teaching a lot of yoga and CrossFit this week. I have had to sub a lot because so many people are out for the holiday week. I am NOT complaining about this though. If I could pick one thing to spend my days doing it would be teaching. I have had several people ask why I continue to teach yoga classes outside of my full-time job when my schedule is so jam-packed but I have to. You know that talk we had about sustainability? Well, practicing and teaching yoga is one of the biggest sustaining forces in my life.
I grabbed breakfast at Whole Foods on my way in to teach CrossFit this morning. Coffee and a giant smoothie. I went for the 24-ounce Double Green today.
It’s been so rainy and gray in Charlotte all week so I stopped at Berrybrook Farm to pick up soup for lunch. They make the best homemade soups. This Inspiration Soup was calling my name. So many of my favorite things!
This was the best soup I’ve had in a really long time. It was perfectly seasoned and generous on the good stuff with so many artichoke hearts.
Okay, I promise I’ll finish the rest of my vacation posts soon! But I had to give love to Sullie today! 🙂
Do you celebrate your pet’s birthday?
I love your blog and you dog updates! Happy birthday to Sullie. Sadly we lost our dear black lab this past weekend after 13 wonderful years. Hug your pup and emjoy him. Happy 4th! Noreen Gallo MSRD

Happy Birthday Sullie, Tell mommy you want a pedicure for your furry feet for your birthday but no painting of the nails…
Happy Birthday to Sullie!!!
I have 2 dogs and yup – we definitely celebrate their bdays – we usually get them a box of doggie ice cream each on each of their bdays, or frozen custard from Rita’s.
Btw, that artichoke soup looks great!
Aw, Sullie! She is so sweet. Maybe you guys could hit up a Dogilates class to celebrate?! 😀
Happy birthday beautiful Sullie!!!
That smoothie looks fabulous!!
Happy Birthday Sullie !! You are PERFECTION!. Dog is God spelled backwards.
That soup looks fantastic! Sounds like you guys have some great lunch places. Happy Birthday to Sullie! I am pretty sure we used to celebrate our guinea pig’s birthday when we were kids! Haha
Happy Birthday, Sullie! Murphy turns 7 at the end of this year.
She’s such a sweetheart! We spoil our dogs so much and I love it…They deserve it, because they do so much for us. Kala and I are wishing Sullie a happy birthday from the road…XOXO
Sullie seems so, so sweet and happy. We have 2 precious dogs and definitely celebrate their b’days! We take them on a shopping spree to PetSmart! We just lost our cat of 12 years (totally devastating and unexpected), but got a kitten a few weeks ago. We celebrate her b’day monthly! 😉
Happy Birthday Sullie! I love celebrating my two Boxers birthdays! Even though they don’t know it, their birthdays mean the world to us! And any excuse for new treats and toys is fine by them 😉 I’m sure Sullie too!! Happy 4th!
Happy birthday, sweet Sullie! My golden is twelve this year, so Sullie’s still a baby 🙂 Reading your posts always motivate me to keep going, now more than ever since I’ll be quitting my job to explore my place in fitness. Thank you for writing, and sharing, Jen. You never fail to inspire me.
Michele.
Happy Birthday Sullie!!!!! She is so adorable. My parents dog is a golden and I always bake her a cake for her birthday. We got a puppy of our own a few months ago and I will be carrying on the same tradition for him. I draw the line at parties too. Happy 4th!!!
Happy birthday Sullie!
We rescued a golden and have no idea when his actual birthday is or even how old he is. But every year we celebrate the day we brought him home as his birthday. And peanut butter is always on the menu!
awe!! happy birthday to sweet sullie! what a lucky golden to have you as a momma!!
Happy Birthday, Sullie! What a cutie – I love that 2yr-old birthday photo!
Happy Birthday Sullie!
I have two cats (brothers) and my husband and I have been celebrating their birthday for 12 years now. On the first year I made little birthday hats for them. That did NOT go over well so that never happened again, but we always get them something special for their birthday and give them lots of extra attention on that day.
i threw my dog a tenth birthday party. it was tons of fun!
Happy (belated) Birthday to Sullie!! Such a sweetheart. 🙂
My parents celebrate their cats’ birthdays. They get a few extra treats and I think they sing to them too.
I totally celebrate Abby’s birthday! Now that she is 8, it’s not as crazy as her 1st and 2nd birthday – where I got her a cake for each. . . Now she gets a new toy and an awesome treat. And lots and lots of loving!!
I love that you used to make Sullie cakes, at least you got a cute picture out of it. Happy belated birthday to your adorable pup. 🙂
