Happy Friday! I have to admit that my morning was a little lazier than planned. I decided to forgo early yoga in favor of taking the 7 a.m. CrossFit class at the gym…and then proceeded to sleep through that. I made it to the gym around 8:30 to teach yoga but failed on the morning workout. I’m not stressing about it. I had a really, really long day yesterday and I needed the rest this morning. There are plenty of other opportunities to workout later. I’ll just adjust my schedule! 😉
Thanks for the support and enthusiasm about the Under Armour “What’s Beautiful” Challenge that I’m participating in. I think it was kind of confusing but the giveaway is for one $500 gift card between all of the bloggers participating so that’s why I had to turn off comments on PBR and you need to post through the Livefyre shared commenting to enter. Make sense? Let me know if you have questions. I’m really excited to participate in this challenge and as promised, here are the details on the races I’ll be training for.
On June 16 (my birthday!) I will participate in the Charity Chase 5K Mud Run in Davidson, NC. The race is a fundraiser for the Support US Armed Forces nonprofit organization. This will be my first mud run and the course includes lots of challenging obstacles. I am recruiting a big group of friends and co-workers to do it with me so it should be a fun birthday!
I’m using the mud run as a segue into trail running and I’m going to train for the U.S. National Whitewater Center Riverbound Race Series 15K on July 21. This will be a totally new experience for me but I’m looking forward to mixing up my running and getting some trail runs in on the weekends.
The mud run should just be entertaining…the trail race I am a little worried about! Do you have any summer races planned? Have you ever done a mud run?
And since it’s been a while, here is a look at some of the things I’ve been eating.
I got a little crazy on Thursday and actually made a savory breakfast. Toast with mashed avocado and goat cheese, sauteed spinach and an over medium egg.
I picked up lunch from the Earth Fare salad bar and ate it at my desk after training some clients. Big salad and carrot ginger soup.
I didn’t make it home from work until almost 9 last night. I quickly put together a grilled chicken quesadilla. I sauteed swiss chard, cherry tomatoes and onions and then added in leftover grilled chicken, goat cheddar and manchego cheese. I made a mix of mashed avocado, salsa, plain yogurt, hot sauce and lime juice and spread it inside.
Then I sat on the couch and watched Grey’s Anatomy, drank a glass of wine and ate ice cream. It was necessary (the combination of all those things).
Breakfast this morning was an English muffin with peanut butter, honey, pumpkin butter, mashed banana and cinnamon.
Off to catch a yoga class. Enjoy the day!
Totally making quesadillas for dinner. You sparked a craving!
I LOVE trail runs!!! I did so many in DC. We are moving to North Carolina in a week and I hope to find more in the eastern shore where we will be living. I am nursing an injured foot but hope to heal in time for fall trail season. You will LOVE!!! Just enjoy every rock and creek and fleck of well-earned mud. xoxo
Wine and Ice Cream are *always* a necessity!
Very cool! I am doing my first run mud run next weekend at the Warrior Dash in Huntersville. And I’m planning on running that 15K too. Used to trail run in California so I’m looking forward to hitting the trails here as well. It’s good to mix things up!
I am doing the warrior dash in Huntersville this Sunday! It’s only a small portion of mud 🙂
Have you done it before? I’m a little nervous. 🙂
Mud runs look like SO MUCH fun! There’s one every year really close to me, but I’ve never done it because you have to form a four-person team, and I’ve never been able to find three other people to do it with me. I bet you’ll have a blast though!
Summer running plans for me basically just include the Peachtree Road Race 10K on July 4th. Have you ever participated in that? I remember from some of your older posts that you have family in Atlanta 🙂 My sister lives there (I live in Augusta) and I’ve done the Peachtree with her twice. It’s a fun race!
