Hi! I hope that y’all had a nice weekend. I spent my weekend hanging out with Finn and my Monday working away.
Here are some photo highlights!
SATURDAY
Finn slept until almost 8:30a on Saturday morning and it was MAGICAL! I go through cycles where I don’t sleep well and I’m in one now so it was really nice to snuggle and get some extra rest.
Once we were up and moving, we hustled to get to the Matthews Community Farmers Market to restock on the best of summer.
We have a local cheese maker in Charlotte, Uno Alla Volta, that does amazing ricotta, mozzarella, burrata and more. They sell at the local farmers markets where their lines are always long and they sell out quickly. I snagged some fresh mozzarella and then saw cottage cheese on the board for the first time ever. You guys, hands-down BEST cottage cheese that I’ve ever had.
We also shared a sourdough donut from Team Rose Bread and it was awesome! The texture of the donut was so light, fluffy and roll-like. It wasn’t overly sweet. I would get this again in a heartbeat!
After we arrived home and got our farmers market goodies unloaded, one of my friends came over with her daughter who is just three months older than Finn. They had a great time playing together and it was nice to catch up with my friend!
Later on Saturday afternoon, we headed to the pool for some fun in the sun. We stayed until about 6:30p! Cute story…Finn asked if Benji could go with us to the pool. I told him dogs weren’t allowed and he said, “Don’t say no mommy, you’ll make Benji so sad. Say yes, and make him smile.” Sweet boy.
I prepared tempeh for dinner for the first time in a very long time.
And Zoey begged for my attention while I watched Manifest.
SUNDAY
Our Sunday was so relaxed and we only left the house one time to go to Walgreens. Sometimes Finn will say to me, “Mommy, let’s get in the car and go somewhere fun” but on Sunday he was all about chilling. I asked him multiple times, “do you want to go to the pool or hang out at home” and every time his answer was “just hang out.”
I took advantage of the day at home to do things like sort through all of his clothes and pull out the things he’s grown out of. Y’all…I dread doing this. It’s always a bittersweet activity. I always pull out one set of PJs and one outfit from each age to save…other than that I cut the ties. We have a great neighborhood parents group on Facebook so I was able to give everything away but gah…my baby is growing up!
I also hung photos in my office that I have been procrastinating on because I doubted my ability to hang them at the same height, equally spaced apart. I am a much more proficient eyeball and hammer kind of picture hanger. When I have to measure and do math, it often doesn’t turn out well. I did it!
While I was hanging the photos, Finn was having a photo shoot with my iPhone. I cracked up at his photos afterwards, especially the one of his boo-boos.
My final rewarding activity of Sunday was shampooing all of my area rugs. I am always appalled by the water in the tank after this. Highly recommend this carpet cleaner.
MONDAY
I ran this morning (Monday) for the first time in a week. The last time I worked out was last Tuesday when I taught a strength class. I just ran out of steam last week and needed a break from workouts. I didn’t even go for walks over the weekend.
Benji was a whole Monday mood today.
The rest of my Monday looked like teaching yoga, running errands, shooting a brand partnership and recording lectures for my upcoming yoga teacher training at VIDYA. For the first time ever, we are offering one of the weekends virtual/asynchronous so I’ve been preparing all of the material for that.
Off to eat dinner, fold laundry and get ready for bed. Have a great week friends! 🙂
QUESTIONS
What do you do with clothes your kids have grown out of?
What are your favorite gratifying household cleaning activities?
Do you like donuts? What kind?
I have zero sentimentality when it comes to clothing – I just want them out of our house!! We got a lot of hand-me-downs for both boys so maybe that is part of why I’m not super sentimental? I think I am the odd one out on not feeling sentimental about clothes as I’ve heard a lot of other moms mention holding onto things. Plus our oldest is so petite and a slow grower so he stays in sizes for SO LONG. Like right now he is almost 3.5 and he’s wearing 18m bottoms and mostly 2T tops. So by the time he grows out of stuff I’m so happy to see different clothes for a change. 😉
I like donuts, but it’s tough to find a good gluten free one (I’m celiac)! They are usually not worth the calories when made GF. But there is a place that makes amazing GF cinnamon rolls and those are totally worth the calories!!
I also go through weird cycles with sleep- so frustrating! Love the Finn pics. 🙂
