This week has flown by in a haze of teaching, training, writing and photo shoots.
My photographer and I decided to knock out all the photography for my book in one week to try and get as much consistency as possible. We’ve done two days of shooting and have one left to go tomorrow. It’s been a really fun experience and incredibly productive but let me just state for the record that I am ready for the weekend and a cupcake! 🙂
This has been my recent uniform. Sometimes I miss wearing real work clothes but overall I am grateful for comfy fitness clothes. I am LOVING these new Inov-8 F-Lite 185 shoes. The black matches a ton and I love the fun pop of color with turquoise and purple. They’ve been my “go-to” gym shoes for the past month. According to Inov-8 they are a female specific fit that is ideal for athletes with a developed natural running style and feature good grip and stability for running and exercise. I don’t wear them to run anything over a mile but they’re great for strength/circuit type workouts and everyday fashion. (And for those of you who have asked about my bag on Instagram and the blog…it’s a navy Michael Kors cross-body that I scored over 50% off at Nordstrom Rack.)
Now for the real highlight of this post…an AMAZING NEW PLAYLIST!. Generally, I make a new playlist every week to use for my yoga classes. I have to constantly switch up the music because I don’t want my students to hear the same playlist over and over (and for my own personal sanity…I teach 10+ yoga classes a week!). While I like all my playlists, every now and then a playlist just perfectly flows with the class and I love all the songs. I made one of those this week and I can’t get enough of it. I’ve been playing it in every class, listening to it while I workout and playing it in the car. I can’t describe it. It’s emotional and inspiring and feels like a musical journey. And as a fitness instructor and yoga teacher, let me tell you…music can totally impact the flow and energy of a class.
I’ve received multiple requests to share it from students and friends so here you go!

There are four tracks on here that have been on extra repeat…Sea of Voices, Joy, Hurricane and All I Want. Trust me, they will give you chills.
Does music make an impact in your workout? Whether it’s yoga, running or other group fitness classes? Any songs you’ve had on repeat lately?
love your chevron scarf and purse!
thanks girl!
can’t wait to check out some of these songs!
music totally revs up my workouts, but i have to switch up the songs so i don’t get bored.
beyonce always hits it!
me too. i cannot listen to the same playlist over and over! always mixing it up. sometimes i just love to hit “shuffle” for all the thousands of songs on my ipod.
Love the playlist! I’ve been needing some new tunes for my workout playlist, so I can’t wait to give some of these a listen. Congrats on almost being done with the boom shoots!
I so wish I could attend your classes on a regular basis – I loved the class I took from you! Thank you for this playlist. I am teaching 3 classes tomorrow and saturday and I am in need of some fresh tunes … thank you!
PS – Are you into yoga trance music? I have several students who ask for it. I am not very familiar with it. I usually do some fun dub step and traditional yoga music.
glad to give some inspiration!
i don’t know much about yoga trance although you’ll notice that i do a lot of chill/remix/club/ambient kinds of stuff. i have really gotten away from pop music and top 40 as the backbone of my playlist. i find it to be too distracting and polarizing.
Thanks so much for sharing the playlist!
Music definitely makes a difference but I prefer yoga without it. Btw, I applied to yoga teacher training today : )
Thank you for this playlist! Can’t wait to check out some of these songs. I’m obsessed with that cross body….love!
you’re welcome. the cross body purse is so functional and comfortable!
Love seeing others’ playlists. Music definitely helps me get in the mood for anything really. I’ll be adding some of these to my playlist. thank you!
You always have such great taste in music Kodaline is awesome you should play the song “Big Bad World” as well as look into the artist Lord Huron!!
thanks for the suggestions. i have one or two lord huron songs but haven’t heard of big bad world.
I was wondering if you would recommend those Inov8 F Lite 185 for Crossfit WODs? I’ve been wearing nanos and have been happy but would be open to trying out Inov8s! Would love to hear your thoughts on them.
yep! i have two pairs and wear them for wods all the time!
I am totally stealing this playlist! I can’t wait to hear some of the songs. I really do think that a good song/playlist can make or break a workout. Thanks so much for sharing! Happy Friday!
yay! glad you like it!
do you have links to your scarf and purse!?!?
no! 🙁
the scarf came from a local store and doesn’t have a tag and i looked for the purse but since it’s already at nordstrom rack, i couldn’t find it in the main retail stores. it must be last season or something.
The music can totally make or break the workout! Can’t wait to listen to some of these songs!
I see my boy Armin Van Buuren on there, you need to get some Audien too. Music is literally the reason why I started running. I wanted to listen to my sweet running jams by myself, LOUD, and just lose it rocking out. So running seemed to be the best way to accomplish that. I’m the weirdo running up and down Peachtree street in Atlanta mouthing the words, fist pumping to trance, and literally turning my training into a dance hall session. And I love it!
i LOVE this comment and i guilty of singing aloud and dancing a little through some of my favorite songs! 🙂
Music definitely makes a difference for me, particularly for long runs! I have a pair of those Inov-8 F Lite shoes too and love them for strength training.
I’m excited to listen to these songs! Music makes a HUGE impact on everything I do.. It can completely change my mood!
How do you find new songs? Do you just browse on itunes, or do you have a way of finding new artists?
Hey Jen, You played a song …lyrics “your body”…repeat over and over. Does this ring a bell? Who is the artist? TX
