I had an amazing weekend. I loved every second of the 21 hours I spent in yoga teacher training and our group is great. Everyone really came together in a short amount of time and there is so much positive energy between us all. I’m not sure why I doubted my readiness for teacher training because I can’t imagine having not done it now. I know without a doubt that this was the right path to take.
Saturday and Sunday both started with an ashtanga practice. This weekend was the first time I have ever practiced ashtanga three days in a row and it felt good. I was never overly sore and I felt like each practice was stronger and stronger. I even made some breakthroughs on poses that I did not think possible!
After practice, we went through things like breathing exercises, group discussion, anatomy lessons and learning how to assist. Today we were surprised to learn that we would be teaching each other sun salutation A and B. Despite knowing this like the back of my hand and having experience teaching, I found it extremely challenging to teach and assist at the same time. It was a fun challenge and I can’t wait to work on it more.
Granted I am feeling a little introspective right now, I must say that I feel extremely grateful for my yoga practice and my teachers. I can’t stop smiling.
Next up, a recap of Saturday and Sunday. (Check out Friday here, including my feelings after day one of teacher training.)
Food has been a little tricky during teacher training. I cannot eat before I practice ashtanga (way too much intense twisting and binding) so “breakfast” has looked a little like this after practice in the mornings.
A Luna or Larabar and G2. I prefer to have bigger breakfasts but this has worked as an on the go alternative (we have so little time to change and eat after practice).
I made a quick trip home for lunch Saturday during our one hour break.
A handful of cherries and a peanut butter and banana sandwich with the most delicious new nut butter…
More info coming soon along with a fun giveaway. Get excited! ๐
I had a load of laundry to do after training wrapped up yesterday and found Sullie like this…
This is a little gross (Sarah, too much!?) but Sullie loves to lie on our dirty workout clothes. I think it’s kind of weird!
Brandon and I wanted to go out to dinner last night since we hadn’t seen each other all day so we used a Groupon for Pewter Rose.
I enjoyed a glass of zinfandel while we waited for our table.
The menu wasn’t super exciting. I decided to go with the Salmon Frites (sub mixed greens for frites) to pack a protein punch.
This was the first time I’d ever had salmon topped with an egg but strangely enough, it worked. The only downside to this dish was that the sauteed spinach was covered in garlic and just too strong.
I didn’t get any pictures of breakfast or lunch today but breakfast was a Larabar and a G2 and lunch was a salad from the Earth Fare salad bar. I stopped at the grocery on the way home to pick up dinner supplies and staples in case we get a good amount of snow tonight. They’re calling for up to EIGHT inches.
I made chicken enchiladas at Brandon’s request. It was the least I could do after leaving him all weekend while he finished up our bedroom decor (pictures soon – it looks awesome!).
I love this recipe! The homemade enchilada sauce is far superior to the canned stuff.
Did you guys have a good weekend? Here’s hoping that snow forecast comes true! ๐
