Since my last post was all about feet it’s time to give you an update on food. I didn’t really think it was appropriate (or appetizing) for me to have food photos in the same post as feet. 😀
One thing I want to share is that I have been so hungry the past few days. The hunger I’m feeling is significantly more than usual and I’m still experiencing it even after taking in an increased amount of calories. This is the kind of hunger that I experience when I’m in the middle of marathon training, not at a normal activity level. The day that I was hungriest was Thursday and that was the day after my unplanned rest day. What gives!?
I’m not really stressing about it. My body tells me what it needs and if it’s feeling like it needs a little extra this week, that’s okay. I’m just trying to make sure that I make healthy snacking decisions because this is the kind of hunger where I want to be satiated immediately. How do y’all deal when your appetite is crazy?
I came to work yesterday armed with this.
Ready for battle against the hunger monster. 😉
I had overnight oats at my desk for breakfast and then a handful of almonds midmorning to hold me over (I never need a midmorning snack!). I went home for lunch and made a sandwich full of healthy fats.
Avocado, hummus, spinach and cheese on a whole wheat bagel thin.
A couple of hours later my belly was starting to rumble again so I had a Carrot Cake Clif Bar and a cup of my very favorite tea in the world.
Yogi Green Tea Kombucha. I grabbed this teabag at the yoga studio after my ashtanga practice yesterday morning. I desperately need to restock my tea supply at work.
I taught BodyPump after work last night and I’m happy to report that as of February 3, classes are still packed. I hope everyone keeps coming because it makes me so happy to see everyone working hard and being healthy.
Dinner last night was a creation. We’ve been talking about wanting to make stuffed portobellos for a while now and then Emily posted about spinach artichoke dip so I had that on the brain. I decided to combine the two and make Spinach, Artichoke and Feta Stuffed Portobellos.
I came up with this one all on my own people! No recipe! I should have written down the measurements as I went but of course, I didn’t. I promise in the future I will be better about writing things down as I go so I can share them. I was just too hungry at the moment! I finished off the night by writing my high heels post and eating a bowl of ice cream.
I went to my normal hot vinyasa class this morning. I haven’t been in two weeks due to having teacher training in the evenings (and wanting to avoid practicing twice in the same day) so it felt good to be back in my routine. After a year of going to the Friday morning class religiously, it felt weird to be out of my routine. It’s just how I love to start my weekends. I especially love seeing familiar faces there!
Overnight oats are my go-to breakfast when I yoga in the morning. They are the perfect cool but filling breakfast after hot class.
Today’s mix…
1/3 cup oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/3 cup plain greek yogurt
1/3 cup plain unsweetened soymilk
1 teaspoon TJ’s pumpkin butter
Dried cranberries
Cinnamon
Blueberries
Half of a banana
Crofter’s
Almond butter
Lunch was a repeat from yesterday so no photo needed. We’re cooking dinner at home tonight and then going to see a movie. We’re trying to decide between Black Swan, Blue Valentine and No Strings Attached. The Twitterverse is strongly recommending Black Swan! What do you guys have planned for the weekend? Enjoy it!
Ah i hear you i was SO hungry all day today!? weird….
xoxo

I get those hungry days EVERY DAY. LOL.
I was going to see Black Swan tonight but had to reschedule. I heard it’s good…same with Blue Valentine.
black swan is great. could be a little awkward at points but still good. i just saw country strong and it was amazing!
I heard that No Strings Attached was good. I really want to see that.
Tomorrow will be a busy day of packing and working and then Sunday we leave for Vegas!! 🙂
Saw Blue Valentine yesterday and LOVED it.
Black Swan is too scary for us!
And we’ll probably see No Strings Attached on DVD. When I first heard about it, it sounded like it was going to be awesome, but the preview was meh for me.
YUM!! enjoy your weekend!
That dinner looks amazing….yum! And it I was glad to see you at yoga too. 🙂 My weekend plans are pretty boring and I’m ok with that. Other than a Super Bowl party, I intend to workout, drink wine, sleep, watch TV, and relax. Not a bad lineup!
Jen,
I have a hunger monster these days too. I am training and whenever I do my normal diet just won’t cut it. It is such a struggle to get enough calories and keep the healthy balance. I find that I try to stick to normal diet then am not satisfied and unhealthy choices abound! I am making a conscious effort to up the protein for muscle repair and keep a good balance of carbs for glycogen and fats for satiation! Otherwise the hunger monster quickly turns into the sugar monster-yikes.
On another note, I am seriously in love with Crofters. Thanks for the idea. Next I am off to try another of your favs, the Larabar, in hopes that it will help with rumbles.
I have days/weeks like that too when nothing will satisfy the Hunger Monster for more than a few hours! I feed it though, and it does go away eventually 🙂 Love your healthy snack stash! I go CRAZY with dried fruit though, so I steer clear of that when I’m really hungry! 😛
I really REALLY want to see Black Swan! I’m going to see it next weekend, so if ya see it, let us know what you thought please! 🙂
I have been ravenous this past week too! I am increasing my mileage, but I still seem to be inordinately hungry. I’ll eat my normal breakfast and be hungry 2 hours later. Maybe my body is just tired of the cold and dark and wants to hibernate…
