I had a lunch meeting today at The Mayobird here in Charlotte and it’s now my new favorite lunch and meeting spot. Whether you live in Charlotte or not, you will love the concept of this restaurant!
It’s based on chicken salad! They offer 17 different varieties of chicken salad and you choose whether you want it on a sandwich, a melt, on a salad plate or with soup or salad.
I love chicken salad with nuts and fruit in it so I went with The Harvest which included apples, grapes and pecans. I did one scoop of chicken salad with a house salad. It was also served with pita chips. My chicken salad tasted great and I loved The Mayobird’s homemade balsamic dressing.
They have tons of great flavors of chicken salad including options like:
– The Big Bird with Curry
– The Heater with Jalepenos
– The Loaded with Bacon, Cheddar and Sour Cream
– The Buffalo with Wing Sauce
– The Greek with Feta, Greek Yogurt, Onions, Cucumbers, Tomatoes and Olives
– The Italian with Pesto and Sundried Tomatoes
And many more!
Everything in the restaurant is homemade and let me tell you…I was giving their desserts a stare down. They looked amazing. If chicken salad isn’t your thing they also have soups, BLTs, egg salad, tuna salad and a bunch of homemade sides.
All of the chicken that they use is local and free-range. And the bread is baked at a local bakery. It’s just an all-around great place!
It wasn’t just the food that sold me though…I really loved the atmosphere at The Mayobird. Seating is at a variety of couches, mismatched tables and counters. It’s the kind of place you want to hang out for a while…and hang out I did! I ended up ordering a latte and cozying up at a table near a fireplace and staying for two more hours after my meeting.
They have a full coffee bar with espresso drinks.
I had an almond milk latte.
The Mayobird also serves a great looking breakfast menu and I can’t wait to go back and give it a try!
So excited to have discovered a new hang out/meeting/breakfast/lunch/coffee spot in Charlotte!
Charlotte readers…have you tried The Mayobird?
Everyone else…do you like chicken salad? What are your favorite mix- ins?
OMG. This restaurant is my dream!!! I wish I lived in Charlotte and could go for lunch. I’d definitely get the “harvest” too. Yum!!
Wow, the ambience there looks awesome! I’m actually not a huge traditional chicken salad fan, but they have so many non-traditional flavors that I bet I would like one of those! The Greek one sounds really good.
A restaurant focused on chicken salad combos is genius 🙂 I love mine with grapes and crunchy celery!
I just tried to comment, but I don’t know if it went through. (Long time reader, first time commenter 🙂 ). Anyway, I LOVE MAYOBIRD. I work right down the road in South End and am obsessed with the concept and ambiance. I had no idea they serve almond milk lattes. Those are my fave, so I’ll definitely be going back to try one soon!
I love The Mayobird! I took my mom there for lunch in the Fall and we had a great time on their fabulous patio. I love the rocking chairs and can’t wait to cozy up in one when the weather gets warmer.
This place looks adorable!!
This place looks so great! I absolutely would’ve matched you and gotten the harvest chicken salad—fruits and nuts add so much! All of your local posts really make me want to check out Charlotte 🙂
Wow looks so delicious!! I love looking at all the cool local places you guys have!
I love Mayobird! The cola cake is quite tasty!
What an awesome concept! When you first mentioned the place on the blog I immediately sent the link to my husband because he loves anything and everything related to chicken salad. My parents live in Charlotte so I’m adding it to the list!
I am not a huge fan of chicken salad, but I love tuna and egg salad! I love adding in those celery pieces for crunch with some dried cranberries and greek yogurt in stead of mayo!
Yum. Love it there. Hungout there again this week.
I met a friend there for breakfast last Friday…verdict is that I like their lunch better but still love the spot!
