Take care of yourself so you are more able to receive.
When I take care of myself — sleep, movement, space for not-doingness — then I’m better able to hear and see which way to go. You can’t be tuned in if your head and body are static with fatigue and stress.

Fill your own cup. Here’s how I’m practicing self-care this week.
Sleeping over nine hours followed by a smoothie and coffee date with the pup whose sweet face and unconditionally loving personality makes my heart ache.
Hot yoga followed by wine and dinner with dear friends.
Where I ate my first okra of the summer season. Grilled with spicy dipping sauce.
Late night ice cream.
Lunch dates and delicious sandwiches.
Leaving work at a reasonable hour which allowed me to attend another yoga class. Really long, really hot shower after followed by time in the kitchen preparing dinner. Tequila lime salmon burger over sauteed peppers, onions and mushrooms and a corn, avocado, tomato and lime salad on the side.
How are you practicing self-care this week?
all my favorites in one post… sullie, ben & jerry’s, yoga, lunch dates, salmon & long showers!
You can’t go wrong with furry friends – they’re the best when you’re not feeling good.
This week I’ve been journaling and reading. It’s amazing how good I feel after doing those two things.
Love all the ways you pamper yourself! Everyone needs to take some more time for themselves and you sure know how to do it right 😉
I have been getting out of bed every morning at 4:30 to get my rear to the gym. It really makes my day.
I’ve been riding my bike or walking EVERYWHERE. I’m taking a week off from running, and it’s so interesting to view the world from a different perspective. I find that running, cycling & walking each provide their own unique gift.
Sitting on the lawn eating ice cream cake straight from the box with my husband is another highlight from the week. 🙂
Awesome post — self-care really is so important!!!!
This week — getting nails done, watching old Grey’s reruns, and journaling 🙂
Have a great Friday!
Thank you so much, Jen! I really needed this post today!
Great post. I love the line “Fill your own cup’. I needed that reminder. 🙂
Oh, and the greek yogurt ice cream looks amazing! I may have to try that.
I’m practicing self-love by listening to what my body is craving instead of labeling it as “bad food” and then eating way too much of it when I finally cave.
practicing self love (for me)=working in the yard!
Sunshiny afternoons have been so rare here in Georgia that when I do get a chance it is a rare treat indeed 🙂
What a lovely photo of Sullie!
LOVE
I finally have been taking care of me this week. Lots of yoga, running, and bar classes. It’s hot hot hot out and I’m focusing on what I need
this was such a simple yet necessary post. you have no idea….
thank you.
I walked with Maverick as my workouts 4 of 5 days this week and only one tough workout when my body was asking for it. Also had a HUGE froyo cup for lunch one day and lots of dark chocolate at night. One of those weeks I guess! xo!
This week I enjoyed some challenging yoga classes, a day off for retail therapy, and tonight I will get my hair cut (which always makes me feel better) and follow it up with an evening yoga class. Yoga really seems to do it for me- mentally and physically -I just feel better 🙂
Wonderful post – self-care is so important to our health and well-being, but I often find it difficult to remember to do it! I’m trying now to actually schedule time for self-care, which seems to be helping 🙂
This week, I enjoyed two yoga classes, which I find really help me de-stress and relax, and I’m just getting back into a regular practice. I’m also planning on taking a day this weekend to just relax and enjoy whatever I feel like doing at the moment. I can’t wait. 🙂
Hope you have a great weekend!
Sounds amazing! Oh how I love okra and it has been way too long since I have had any…I think this will be a good motto for me this weekend. I have a lot of emotions going on here as I settle into Houston and I need to stop worrying, enjoy the journey, and practice some self care….Thank you for speaking this! XO
This is all so true! I love that you did a post about this. One of my favorite parts of self care is taking a nice long walk, on a Friday afternoon while everyone is still at work, with my golden retriever who is happy as can be as long as there is a stick in his mouth and someone to pet him. I think it’s important to see that self care doesn’t necessarily mean rewarding yourself with “stuff” from the mall either.
Ice cream is the best kind of self care. 🙂 Love this.
