My heart was warmed by your thoughtful and supportive comments on what empowering women means to you. Thank you for that. If you missed the post, please check it out and remember that the giveaway is open until Monday at midnight.
I’m going to combine my weekend and workout posts tonight because I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get to it tomorrow.
My weekend started early with a girl’s night at Reid’s. It was “National Drink Wine Day” after all!
I had the most amazing dinner of beef short rib over sticky rice with baby bok choy and shitake mushrooms.
Eating your sweet potatoes out of an empty almond butter jar might not look pretty but it tastes so good!
Healthy Friday night dinner. Roasted broccoli, roasted parsnips and a thigh/leg chicken quarter.
Saturday lunch after teaching yoga. Leftover chicken on a bed of spinach/romaine with apples, cranberries, avocado and almonds.
We had friends over for wine and apps on Saturday night.
Chips and guac. We love these plantain chips from Trader Joe’s.
Cheese plate. (I’m still off of dairy and gluten for the most part at this point.) I just had to gaze at this longingly.
Zoe was so super excited to have company over.
As were the other two! 🙂
Sunday morning brought the first post-Whole30 smoothie. I think I went 50+ days without one.
Lazy pups.
We had my fiance’s brother and his family over for dinner tonight and I’m now feet up on the couch with some hot tea and he just delivered me some homemade chocolate banana avocado mousse. Perfect end to the weekend.
Quick look at the workouts…
Monday
2 miles on treadmill to warm up + WOD
Workout:
4 rounds:
1o ring rows
15 back squats
20 wall balls
25 kettlebell swings
400 meter run/sprint
I just wrote last week that Monday is usually yoga day but due to my teaching schedule and an added private, I couldn’t fit it in. I decided to do a more CrossFit-ish type workout at the gym. I wanted to focus on squatting thus the reason for the squats straight into the wall balls, which was really fun time. This took me a little over 22 minutes to complete.

How was your weekend? What was the highlight?
Do you pups like having guests over?
I have that Chobani spoon…I totally made a sweet potato for breakfast the over the weekend and topped with dried cranberries and a hearty helping of nut butter. It was AMAZING! Lucy loves when friends come over…More love for her! XOXO
For whatever reason this Chobani spoon is my FAVORITE! Glad you liked the sweet potatoes! 🙂 I think it’s a golden thing with loving the company.
What a nice weekend!
My dog is 14 1/2 and kind of crabby, so I put him in his crate when big crowds come over! He likes it better anyway.
Aw, sweet pup. We have a 14 year old too (the pug) but he’s a total attention lover.
I haven’t tried trader joe’s plantain chips but I wish they sold regular plaintains!
Oh they’re a good alternative to regular chips. I also wish they did!
My friends and I went to the museum for an exhibition of the Impressionists. It was great! I’m glad that your weekend was wonderful too.
That sounds like such a nice weekend! I love doing things like that.
Seems like a weekend full of delicious eats, as your weekends always do 🙂 I’ve been dying to check out the new Reid’s! I ate at Ru Rus …that place never gets old!
You should check out Reid’s for sure. The restaurant/wine bar part is really nice. Related, I haven’t tried Ru Rus so I need to get on that!
looks so nice! highlight of the weekend was this sunshine! we took sukie & coco to the park & i love to watch sukie in the park – although she is already 7, she runs around and chases balls and squirrels like she is only a puppy. it makes me so happy to see her so playful and free. i also am getting caught up on your blog & last night (feeling inspired) I roasted new veggies & sweet potatoes and made the sweet potato/banana bowl this morning – a new fave and highlight of the morning.
Yes, the weather was gorgeous. So happy that Sukie is still a puppy at heart. My Sullie is too! 🙂 YAY for the sweet potato breakfast! xo
My dog loves it when people come over! He loves attention, so it’s like heaven for him.
Did you have reactions to gluten and dairy after you reintroduced them after Whole30? Or have you just not reintroduced them yet? I’m noticing my reactions to gluten have gotten more pronounced the longer I stay away from it 🙁
Hey Chrissie!
I haven’t introduced much gluten or dairy in yet. Just the tiniest bit of dairy in the form of like a dollop of greek yogurt and a pita (both from a Blue Apron dinner). So far so good but not sure what might happen when I do more. I’ll keep y’all posted.
I’ve been skipping dairy for a month or so and the other day “treated” myself to ice cream – ahhhh! So much discomfort!! I felt like my stomach was so distended and I was getting stabbing pains under my ribcage. It was the worst! It made me think of the story I’ve heard that dairy starts to curdle when it hits your stomach acid (not sure if that’s true or not.) I feel like I’ve heard cheese is much “safer”.. but then I think of that movie French Kiss where Meg Ryan spends all in a public toilet after indulging in the train station cheese plate.
Be careful out there, everyone!! 🙂
Oh no! It’ll be interesting to see how I react to it when I reintroduce it. Hoping for the best because pizza and ice cream are pretty hard to pass up!
Is Sullie’s right paw okay?
Yes! It’s been biopsied. She’s had it for a very long time. Five + years!
Phew! I’m glad to hear that. It just makes her that much more special!
