Thank you so much for the positive feedback on my new blog design. I hope you love it as much as I do. I can’t stop looking at it! ๐
So when I wasn’t making googly eyes at my blog this weekend, I was doing all kinds of fun non-computer things like cooking, teaching and helping with bootcamps.
We decided to stay in on Saturday night so I took advantage of having time to bake. I never make pies so when Brandon suggested apple pie, I thought it sounded perfect. Warm apple pie + ice cream = heaven! Dessert on the weekend is a must.
Of course I ate my veggies before getting into the pie! I roasted a huge pan of sweet potatoes, potatoes, parsnips, brussels sprouts and carrots. They were tossed in a bit of olive oil with herbs, salt and pepper and then finished with a sprinkle of parmesan. Roasting is the best cooking method.
We did a “his and hers” night. Brandon grilled a steak for himself and salmon for me. We also had french bread and olive oil dipping sauce.
I was super lame and went to bed around 11 p.m. even with the extra hour of sleep thanks to the time change. It was worth it to get almost nine hours in! I bounded out of bed at 6:30 this morning and was ready to get to my mat. I practiced ashtanga before teaching my 9:15 and had a great practice (day 6 done!). Everything has been feeling so good lately. I’m going to finally film that ashtanga back bending video for you guys this week.
I was completely blown away to walk into my 9:15 to discover that the room was absolutely packed. It was my biggest class ever at Y2 and it took a few minutes for it all to sink in. SO MUCH GRATITUDE for the studio and my amazing yogis who allow me to lead them through their practices.
I grabbed a bagel with Brandon after class before rushing over to Fight Gone Mad for our first bootcamp!
I know I mentioned this before but we are offering fitness bootcamps for our yogis and hosting them at Fight Gone Mad. Our first bootcamp was a huge success.
We had 14 participants and they worked so hard. I was seriously impressed.
I was especially good at motivating people through four minutes of stair running. ๐ย I assisted bootcamp this week but next week I get to lead. I’m already scheming all of the fun things that we can do. It’s going to be awesome!
Came home and refueled with a green smoothie. This one was not for the faint of heart. I’m usually firmly on the “you cannot taste the spinach” train but this one was intense.
And now it is 10:30 and I still have to learn BodyPump choreo for my 6 a.m. class tomorrow. Will update you on the rest of Sunday later!
Hope it was a great weekend!
That bootcamp looks like such a crazy workout! I bet you are a great motivator ๐ And ummm I really want that apple pie so bad!
That looks like one intense bootcamp! Those stairs get me every time!
Love the new blog layout!! It looks great!
I like the idea of a his and hers night, I will have to try it! Sounds like you had an amazing weekend! ๐
Hi Jen! Really liking the new layout. I’ve been reading for about a month now and although you make me feel very lazy (even when most people I know tell me I work out more than anyone they know) I am still very inspired that you do so much activity and still have time to cook delicious meals and spend time with your family.
Question for you: I’ve been getting an ad popup of sorts with the new layout that I didn’t get before. Is that here to stay?
Oh my gosh! The pie & roasted veggies look so delicious! Makes me want to lick the screen ๐
I know what you mean by those green smoothies! Some days I wonder if I put enough in to make an impact but then you put more and it’s like “it’s there!” lol
catching up on blogs after being on travel for work…i LOVE your new site! and i so wish i could take your boot camp classes ๐
