Weekend photo time!
Sullie and I celebrated Friday with relaxation in the front yard followed by my street’s annual party.
Hot dog (there is a special place in my heart for hot dogs…I will not tell you how many of these things I ate late night in college. Hot dog man, hot dog man, hot dog man!!!), squash casserole (<– my fave!), basil green been salad with lima beans and bacon and mac and cheese. Unpictured was an amazing coconut sheet cake. The most exciting news from the neighborhood get together was that we have been redistricted from one of the worst school districts in Mecklenburg county to the best. Yay for my property value!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had grand plans of going for a day hike in the North Carolina mountains on Saturday but with the launch of the new Metro Fitness Club site and ongoing home projects I postponed it. It’s a good thing that I did because I spent most of the morning working on the site and our email went down and I had to fix that so it would have been impossible if I were out of pocket. Instead I took a trip to Home Depot to look at kitchen lights, cleaned out the laundry room and pressure washed the driveway. It took FOUR hours during which I listened to Mindy Kaling’s “Why Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” which is highly entertaining, insightful and I highly recommend.
Sullie supervised from the front porch, clearly she was thrilled about it all. ๐
I taught my Sunday morning yoga class today and then decided to make up for that hike I missed…but locally. I made my first trip to Crowder’s Mountain and did a 5.5 mile hike with the pup. My legs are toast! It’s crazy how differently hiking targets your muscles than running or walking on a flat/stable surface. It was so nice to get out of Charlotte and be outside.
I was craving a big salad for dinner so I had mixed greens, figs, goat cheese, dried cranberries, pecans, avocado and a feta spinach turkey burger with aged balamic and olive oil.
Now, relaxation with Breaking Bad. Hope y’all had a good weekend!
Hot dogs…yes or no?ย
i hadn’t had one in over 23 years and then gave in and had one a few months ago. I do not feel I have been missing anything. i’m probably ok to go at least another 23 years without another hot dog. ๐ awesome you got to make up the hike plans!! congrats on the new site launch!
I loved Mindy Kaling’s book too! And I love all your house projects! It’s making me want to buy a house but I’m so scared of the commitment and responsibility. ๐
I’m dying to get out and hike more! All your pics on instagram were so pretty!
Yes hot dogs!!! Sometimes there’s nothing better than a good hot dog! It’s funny that you posted about hot dogs because I was eating a hot dog off the grill the other day, and thinking to myself “PBR would never eat this bad food.” So glad that I was wrong! ๐ Sounds like a productive weekend!
I love hot dogs too- and since going vegan haven’t found one that quite hits the spot! We were in Charlotte this weekend and considered Crowder’s Mountain for hiking but opted for a shorter hike on a bike trail at the Whitewater Center- which was SO cool to visit! And finally ate at Luna’s and Fern thanks to your recommendations! (and Bean Vegan Cuisine, which was very delicious despite the total lack of ambiance!)
If I had the choice between hot dogs or burgers, the burger would win. However, whenever we go camping I’m all for hot dogs because they are so easy. Campfire, dogs, (our dog) plus a beer and s’mores. Best ever! Glad your house projects are coming along. Your hiking view looks spectacular!
Do you have the recipe for the green bean salad by chance!?
Even though I haven’t had a hot dog in many years I vote YES! There is just something about a hot dog on the grill that is so delicious! Your food and weekend look amazing!
Love the hiking picture! I did a great hike this weekend but it almost went really wrong due to a late start, getting lost on the way to the trail head, and impending thunderstorms!
Sounds like a productive weekend. That salad looks amazing! What color is that Power Y you are wearing? Love it! So vibrant!
I agree that you can’t beat a good hot dog every once in a while. . . and I laughed and loved Mindy’s book too – she is super funny.
Sullie is so adorable “supervising” and lounging around!
Hiking is indeed so different from running – such a nice treat though
See you are truly enjoying your pressure washer ๐
I love you power y tank too!!! Is it the Love Red color??
It’s definitely not Love red. My guess is Flare….
Or Pizzaz……
it’s the pizazz orange color. i bought it in a couple of styles because it matches our brand colors at metro. not in the store anymore ๐
I eat a hot dog maybe once a year! I’d much rather have a Italian sausage with all the hot dog toppings…It’s usually my go to at BBQ’s or baseball games. Ah love that first picture of Sullie. Goldens love to get their roll on…It’s comical. Have a happy Monday! XOXO
That coconut cake sounds really good.
Are you getting ready to list your house?
Looks like a nice hike. Have a great week!
nope, just doing some long overdue work so that it’s a happy place and not a stressful place! ๐ ๐ ๐
No to hot dogs, but the food all looks really good. I will have to check out that book. I am always looking to add to my reading list.
YES to hot dogs!!! They have a very special place in my heart. I honestly have never been able to pass one one .. which is an issue if we ever go out in the French Quarter (I live in New Orleans) because they have hot dog stands everywhere. Ekk! ๐
hot dogs are my guilty pleasure whenever I tailgate for football games in the fall. I try to make it a tinyy bit healthier by getting turkey dogs instead of a standard hot dog.
We watched ‘Hyde Park on Hudson’, about Franklin Roosevelt just prior to the start of the war. The King and Queen of England are visiting, and the Queen in particular is horrified to find out they will be served hot dogs during a picnic. It really made me crave one! I don’t know how factual the movie is, but the Kings willingness to eat a hot dog endeared him to the American people and he went home feeling much better about getting America’s help in the war.
I am going to wait til the weather cools to partake – nothing like a hot dog roasted over a fire.
LOL at the hot dog man. I always get mine with lots of sauerkraut! Great game saturday, GO DAWGS!
Hey! We started going to Crowders last month and I love it! Especially the stairs!
Hotdogs from the cart at the corner of college and broad? Been there done that. Woke up one morning thinking I had cut myself, but come to find out it was only dried ketchup ๐
