Morning and happy Friday! I can’t believe how fast the weeks are ticking away. I start each week thinking I have so much time and that I’m going to get so much done and then Friday gets here and I’m like, “WAIT!” I’m definitely starting to feel the pressure of my due date coming up and there’s so many work and personal projects that I need to wrap up first.
We have a few weeks off of teacher training due to spring break for our local school systems (we always try to avoid having training weekends during spring break for students/teachers/parents that might be in TT) so I want to take advantage of these few open weekends to get a lot of baby-prep wrapped up.
I had my 34 week check up yesterday and it was non-eventful. My doctor was on vacation for spring break so I saw another doctor who was actually the one I saw when I was in the hospital. I haven’t been rotating between doctors which has been awesome because I love my doctor so very much but a little nerve-racking because I know the chance of him being on call when I go into labor is slim. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
Back to the appointment…my blood pressure is staying low and belly is measuring on track. I have another appointment at 36 weeks where I’ll get swabbed for group b strep, have a cervical check for effacement and dilation (ahhh) and an ultrasound to check fluid levels and baby’s size/position. And then I’ll go every week after that until I go into labor. I won’t tell you my doctor’s prediction for baby boy’s arrival because I don’t want to jinx anything. Only time will tell!
I can’t believe how real it’s all getting. I’m feeling a roller coaster of emotions that I won’t even start to get into early on a Friday morning.
I mentioned in my 34 week update that my back has been a little funky for the last week or so. I went to see Dr. Bradberry at Greenapple on Wednesday and was THRILLED to discover that they had a pregnancy-friendly table. I got to go stomach down for the first time in quite a while!
Dr. Bradberry said that everything I’m feeling is very normal for pregnancy and there wasn’t a ton they could do to “fix” it but could work to make me more comfortable. My pelvis was rotated out of alignment and my low back was really tight so he did a few things to address those issues. Game plan is weekly massage and chiropractic until baby arrives.
It’s been nice having my mom here for the last week. We went out to dinner last night at a local Thai place. My dad doesn’t love Thai so we’ve been eating lots of it on her visit since we have some great Thai spots here in Charlotte. Told you guys I wanted to dress this bump in real clothes and take it out as much as I can before he gets here! 🙂
I’ll end this post with some eats from this week!
BREAKFAST
Cinnamon raisin bagel with sunflower seed butter, honey and banana.
And banana blueberry oatmeal with cottage cheese stirred in and coconut peanut butter on top.
I also ate a few smoothie bowls!
LUNCH
Sandwich with ham, turkey, pepper jack, tomato, avocado, mayo and spicy mustard on muti-grain.
The yummiest salad combo of arugula, pears, avocado, roasted/salted pepitas, dried cranberries, feta and canned salmon. Topped with truffle seed salt and homemade balsamic honey dijon dressing.
Avocado toast, cottage cheese and grapes. I also ate about a million salt and vinegar kettle chips before this.
Asian chopped salad kit from Whole Foods doctored up with tomatoes, dried cranberries and avocado. Tomato feta soup on the side from Trader Joe’s.
DINNER
Lots of leftover enchiladas!
I put my mom in charge of dinner one night while I was teaching and we had braised collards, baked sweet potatoes and a sauteed pork chop.
Dinner out at Deejai Thai. We started with these dumplings.
I had this coconut green curry with lots of veggies and tofu and it was AMAZING! I’m always so surprised by how different curries are from restaurant to restaurant. If you live in Charlotte, Deejai has a great one!
ETC.
I come by my love of sweets very honestly and anytime my mom is around, there is lots of ETC! 🙂 She bought this peach praline pie at The Fresh Market and it’s so tasty! They have a great bakery at that store.
And that’s all friends. Have the best day! 🙂
Favorite Thai dish?
Favorite fruit pie flavor?
Weekend plans? Going for a productive or relaxing weekend?
You look great heading into the home stretch. My favorite fruit pie is strawberry!
You look great and so healthy. You’re going to be so glad you stayed so active during your pregnancy. It makes delivery and recovery so much easier. I was in great shape before and during my pregnancy and it seemed like everything just fell into place bc of it. Enjoy the last bit of your pregnancy!! You’re going to love having a boy. Mine is 3.5 now.
Random question. I’m curious to how you grocery shop and what you buy. Also how you store it. Do you freeze anything so it will last longer never? Your food always looks so fresh and delicious. I feel like I always spend so much at the store and it always goes bad before I can eat it all.
I just developed a bread/carb habit, after eating mostly paleo, at 20 weeks pregnant. I know you make your own bread BUT any store bought brands that you love?
Haha, I would go with it girl! I do get some store-bought bread and you might also want to check out local bakeries. Whole Foods has some awesome options for both packaged and bakery breads. So does Trader Joe’s!
Congrats Jen- you are one beautiful pregnant mama!! I just had my 3rd and I love all things babies- kids are an absolute blessing!!!
The dr prediction is a blessing and a curse!! If they’re correct, it’s amazing, but with my second it was not and drove my wild ??
Either way, baby arrives and is the best day of your life!!!
Where is your dress from? So flattering!
Hi,
You look great! I am 16 weeks in the pregnancy journey and I am bigger than your pictures already at 16!
I am also very active, but am struggling with not gaining much weight. How much weight did you gain through pregnancy?
Hi Jen, will you please post your enchilada recipe? Yum!
