I missed recapping my workouts last week when my mom was visiting. It was a very low key week with lots of rest and not a lot of high intensity. I stepped it up a bit this week and felt great overall. None of my workouts left me sore or overly fatigued. It was a really good mix for me.
Tonight I have a recap of my week of workouts for you along with a new playlist that I love to give you some new music inspiration.
Monday
1 mile run to warm up then TRX + Weights Circuit
I have been all about the TRX lately and have been using it in my own training as well as my client’s workouts. On Monday I did one of the workouts that I used on a client the week before. The workout alternated bodyweight TRX movements with weighted exercises.
Tuesday
Hoy Vinyasa Yoga + Strength
I haven’t been practicing a lot of yoga lately. It has been SO hot in the studio since the arrival of warm and humid summer weather. After I make it through teaching a class, I have a hard time staying or coming back later to practice. On Tuesday I did stay after I taught to take class and sweated my life out on my mat. It felt good.
I had a client cancel on me later that evening on Metro so I used the time to do a quick strength workout. I did five rounds of front squats, pull ups and supine toes to bar.
Wednesday
5 mile run
I did this run with my new running partner and it felt great. It was super humid out so we were both drenched at the end.
Thursday
CrossFit
I did this crazy workout that our gym programmed earlier in the week.
20 RFT:
1 Snatch
2 Overhead Squats
3 Burpees
4 Wall Balls
5 Ab Mat Sit Ups
I thought it would be really tough but it was not so bad. I finished in a little over 18 minutes.
Friday
CrossFit + Yoga
I trained clients at 6:30 and 7:30 and then stayed after to do the WOD.
For time:
10 power clean (65#)
10 push press (65#)
10 kettlebell swings (35#)
10 wall balls (14#)
15 power clean
10 push press
10 kettlebell swings
10 wall balls
20 power cleans
Short and sweet. Around 8 minutes RX. Later that morning I took a non-heated yoga class from one of my students who just completed teacher training. She was auditioning for a teaching position at Om Yoga and I’m so proud of her. She rocked it!
Saturday
Run
3 miles
Sunday
Run + Weights
I ran to the gym (a little less than 2 miles from my house), worked out and then ran home.
10 Rounds:
10 alternating front rack lunges (45#)
10 push ups
10 GHD sit ups
I predict a sore booty tomorrow! Those front lunges will do it every time. I spent the rest of the day lounging by the pool! 🙂
And here’s that playlist for you.
The whole playlist is awesome but favorites are…
– Cottails by Broods
– More Time and Keep Your Eyes Open by NEEDTOBREATHE
– Slowdown Time by Ghost Loft
– Love Your Life by Tom Day (Instrumental)
What is your favorite leg exercise? I’m a squats and lunges girl all day long!
Any new favorite songs/music/artist picks?
I love curtesy lunges and plié squats.

Hi Jen
I’d be really interested in finding out what your TRX and weights circuit comprised of? I haven’t used the TRX that much and would love to incorporate it more!
Would you consider, if you have the time and actually want to, posting a workout routine involving the TRX? Perhaps suited to someone who has never used it before? I’ve been wanting to use the one at my gym for aaages…I’m a little intimidated! I’d love a little guidance, especially from someone I admire, like yourself.
I would love for you to share one of your TRX workouts…I have been wanting to use mine lately to switch things up…Nothing beats hot sweaty long runs in the middle of summer…Have a beautiful day! XOXO
I loooooove that Ben Rector song!
I’ve been loving Glass Animals lately!! Never really listened to them but it’s good chill out/workout music!
Jumping in with the other comments that I’d love to see some of your TRX workouts. It is one of my favorite workouts and I am always looking for some variations.
For legs, im with Jodie and curtsy lunges (i had no idea they were called this but it makes sense!) and i sorta hate them but clock lunges where you start with feet together then do a front lunge (12 oclock), side lunch (3 oclock), back lunch (6 oclock) then switch to the other side. they kill me every time.
