Hi and happy Sunday! I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I’m checking in to share this week’s workouts. It was a good mix that was light on the lifting, light on the yoga and a little heavier on the running. The road has just been calling my name lately so I’ve been going with it. I’m one of those crazies who LOVES summer running…the sweatier the better! 🙂 I’ll take hot over cold any day. Also, my body has been saying YES to running over the last few months…more so than it has in years. I am pretty happy about that.
Here’s the rundown of the week.
Monday
CrossFit
20 minute ARMAP
3 hang cleans (done at 75#)
6 ring dips
9 box jumps
27 double unders
This WOD was from the CrossFit main site and it was HARD! Even though there were only 3 hang cleans, I was really struggling through them in the later rounds. And I was so proud of myself for doing all of the double unders. A couple of rounds I even completed unbroken!!! I finished 9 rounds in 20 minutes.
Tuesday
10-1 Ladder: Deadlifts (105#), Pull Ups (kipping)
A ladder is where you start with 10 of everything and work your way down to 1. So 10 reps, then 9, then 8 and so on. I was sore for days after this workout. It was sneaky hard!
Wednesday
5 mile run
I met my running partner for this 5 mile run through Dilworth.
Thursday
5 mile treadmill workout
1 ran 10 minutes to warm up, 10 minutes of hill intervals and 10 minutes of sprint intervals. And then recovered with and easy run for the last 1.5 miles to make it five.
Friday
Hot yoga
My favorite yoga teacher here in Charlotte has been out of town for the last six weeks on her annual sabbatical. Friday was her first class back and my first yoga class in a week in a half. I haven’t been practicing much lately with my new work schedule. I think I’ve practiced twice in three weeks. Not the norm for me but it all ebbs and flows. My practice will be there for me when I have time to get back to it.
Saturday
REST
Sunday
5 mile beach run
So…I’m at the beach! One of my best friends is here for two weeks with her family and invited me to join them for a few days. I cleared my calendar for a few days and hopped in the car on Saturday afternoon to come down. I don’t usually love to run on the beach but this beach is so flat and the sand is so packed that it feels like running on the road. Perfect!
Do you like to run on the beach?
Oh my gosh my post that I’m about to publish is almost identical to yours! Great minds think alike. I too have been craving running, even in this Houston heat. Actually contemplating signing up for the 1/2 marathon in Savannah. 🙂 XOXO
Suzanne was on fire! What a great class! And I’m right there with you about running in the heat!!
Nice – 3 solid, 5 milers! Enjoy the beach 🙂
If running on the boardwalk at the beach counts for running on the beach then yes, I love running at the beach! lol…I don’t usually take my run on the sand although I should since it is a fabulous workout.
I love beach running, even though I’m nowhere near one! I enjoy it while on vacation….it’s a vacation for my knees from the pavement pounding everyday! That looks like the perfect flat hard packed sand to run on!
Running on the beach always sounds better than it actually turns out to be. Maybe I just run in very soft sand beach but wow, it’s one heck of a workout!
Could you please tell me what WOD and ARMAP stand for. I enjoy your blog, but have no idea what those stand for.
Thanks!!
Becky
WOD = Workout of the Day
AMRAP = As many rounds as possible
