I missed y’all last night but Monday was a little rough. It started at 3:45 a.m. with a wake up call from Sullie. She wasn’t feeling well and kept pacing and staring at me while I was trying to sleep. Poor thing. I was up with her until I had to teach BodyPump at 6 a.m. And then work was what you expect after being out for six days, crazy! I subbed a hot yoga class after work and then showered at the studio and headed over to my in law’s for dinner. I finally made it home at 10 p.m. and didn’t even look at my computer. I collapsed into bed.
Welcome back from vacation, right!? ๐
Today was much better! I practiced ashtanga before work and it left me feeling energized and ready to tackle the day. Breakfast was banana and blueberry oatmeal at my desk and I came home for lunch.
A random but delicious bowl of things from the fridge. I started with a bed of spinach and then topped it with pine nut couscous, sun-dried tomatoes, diced tomatoes, shredded mozz, diced avocado and diced grilled portobello mushroom. Finished with a dollop of plain Greek yogurt.
I had a Key Lime Pie Larabar and Yogi Green Tea Energy for an afternoon snack before teaching BodyPump. I subbed for a fellow instructor who is dealing with an injury. Class was awesome. We had over 40 members tonight! Love, love, love the energy in packed classes.
Thank goodness for that energy because I am HURTING! As anticipated, I am insanely sore from all of the yard work Sunday. Today’s soreness was even worse – delayed onset – OUCH! I actually said, “oh my god” out loud when I did my first chaturanga in yoga this morning! ๐ฏ
Dinner tonight was an old favorite that we haven’t had in far too long.
Salad with pecan crusted chicken breast and homemade honey mustard. This is a healthy and tasty dinner. I bake the chicken instead of cooking it in oil and the dressing is made from honey, lemon juice, dijon mustard, plain nonfat Greek yogurt and a drizzle of olive oil. We had Trader Joe’s Rosemary Foccacia on the side.
So I wanted to share three happy things with you before I wrap this up.
1) A new album that I am loving – Ellie Goulding’s “Lights.” Brandon added this album to his iPod before vacation and we have listened to it a ton. Definitely a new favorite and I’ll be playing it in my yoga classes too!
2) The best book I’ve read in several months – Kristin Hannah’s Winter Garden. This is one of the books that I took on vacation with me and I read it in two days. I couldn’t put it down. I’m usually not a huge fan of historical fiction but I was totally enamored by learning about what women went through to survive and support their families during the siege of Leningrad in the 1940s.
Speaking of books, I promise that I’m going to do summer reading post in the next week with all of your great suggestions from my beach reading post!
3) Our Jamaica photos. I had so much fun playing with my new camera while we were there. We took over 600 photos!
I haven’t had time yet but I’m going to post albums to flickr or facebook if you want to check them out. I also still want to get a review post up about the resort where we stayed. It was wonderful!
Oh and one bonus thing that’s making me happy right this very minute…the Dove Dark Chocolate Bunny that we just broke into from our Easter stash. Yummy!
What’s making you happy right now?
Glad you had a good vacay!
Can’t wait to see the pictures from your trip!!
I’m happy because my running is getting better and I’m actually very excited and feel prepared for the half marathon this weekend. ๐
Can’t wait to see your pictures!
I’m happy as this week is the first week of training for my first marathon and scoring off each daily workout/run feels so good ๐
Why do things always seem extra crazy and chaotic after vacation?! I can see why you were so tired! I am so happy that the sun is shining. It’s t-shirt weather! And summer vacation is only 22 days away ๐
yay for t-shirt weather. you don’t even know how much i thought about you and your determination as you trained through all that snow last winter. you’re awesome and deserve a summer FULL of sunny, warm days! ๐
Can’t wait to try that honey mustard for myself!
And I just recently discovered Ellie Goudling too. She is ridiculously good!
Oh wow, that horse picture is beautiful! I want a new lens for camera so badly…
Great yoga song choice! I love when the instructors have good taste! I’ve finally started going to classes a few times a week again. I feel so much better (:
We did the horseback thing too! I can’t wait to see your pics!
Ooh ouch! That sounds like a tough (and sore!!) first day back!! And ooh can’t WAIT tonsee your photos! ๐
P.S. While you were away I tried your patented banana+PB+honey sandwich, and I am NEVER going back to just PB+banana!! AWESOME combo!! ๐
emma – ever since you posted this comment i’ve been CRAVING a pbb + h sandwich. so glad you enjoyed it!
3:45 AM!!! GIRL, YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I don’t think I could do that. Your food always looks so fresh and makes me so hungry. I absolutely LOVE your blog and you always motivate me to work out:)
the 3:45 a.m. wake up time was not voluntary. my poor sick pup kept me up ๐
thanks for the kind words about my blog! i’m so happy to hear that you enjoy it!
I definitely want to hear more about your trip! So glad you guys got a chance to unwind and relax together ๐
Thanks for the bars! I actually didn’t get to have them (we were already on the road again) but my in-laws enjoyed every bite!! So generous of you!!
oh no, i’m so sorry i didn’t get them to you in time for you to enjoy them ๐
Rascal’s method for letting me know he isn’t feeling well is to sit on my head when I’m trying to sleep. I hope poor Sully is feeling better. And you are probably the third person to say you really liked Winter Garden, so I am adding it to my list of things to read. Hope today is less crazy for you!
kelly – you must read winter garden. i would give you my copy but i gave it to my mom. that is so cute about rascal sitting on your head (although i’m sure it’s not so cute in the middle of the night!).
Ugh…I’m about to go back to work after being away for 7 days. I’m already cringing at the thought of opening my email!
Poor Sullie, I hope she is feeling better!
