Well, hi. I hope you’ve had a great week. Finn and I were supposed to be in Florida as I type this but when I went to check in for my flight the night before we were supposed to leave…I discovered our reservation had been cancelled. AHH! I won’t get into the story but we are rebooked to leave bright and early Friday morning. My bags are packed and I’m ready to go.
My mom texted me this photo on Tuesday and I have been counting down the days ever since. For our last two visits we have not seen the sun and this time the weather is supposed to be incredible so I cannot wait! Packed bathing suits for me and Finn!
It truly worked out for the best because Finn got an extra day to chill and recover. I’m happy to report that he is feeling pretty much 100% better…there was no Nose Frida-ing today. All I can say about the Nose Frida is that it’s a traumatic experience for all involved.
Also, I was able to pack, clean and get organized at a relaxed pace today. This never happens. I am usually running around like a maniac. My mom was in shock when she asked if I was packed this evening and I replied yes. I’m usually a midnight packer and still stuffing things in my bag as I’m wheeling my suitcase out of the house and late for the airport.
In full transparency, I learned this from my mom. Haha. I also learned from her waiting until your gas light is on to get gas. My sweet Mema doesn’t understand either of these behaviors for the life of her. She is packed well in advance of any trip (and always has been) and her tank never got below 1/4 when she was driving.
I got way off on a tangent there. So let’s keep going with tangents…
Has anyone else fallen victim to Easter candy? I was in Target this week and I just couldn’t say no. I bought Reese’s Eggs, York Egg Patties and Cadbury Creme Eggs. Luckily, I had my priorities in order and also stocked up on toothbrushes and toothpaste. 🙂
I have a little candy jar in my entryway that I feel very devoted to keeping full. It just feels homey and fun and reminds me of my grandmother. 🙂
This playlist saved my life in the car today. Finn was hungry and cranky but these tunes got us the 15 minutes home without a major meltdown.
While we are on the topic of Spotify…this playlist from my classes today. <3
One more thing to listen to! The podcast that I recorded with Hannah and Caroline from It Sounded Like A Good Idea is LIVE! You can find lots of ways to listen here.
Also good. This dinner of arugula and baby spinach massaged in lemon juice, sea salt, avocado oil and a tiny drizzle of honey. Topped with half an avocado, feta, hummus, lemon pepper Right Rice (<– really yum!), a veggie burger and a fried egg. SO DELICIOUS!
I could probably keep going with these tangents all night but it’s an early bedtime for me. See you this weekend from sunny Florida! xx
Are you a packing procrastinator or do you get it done well in advance of the trip? What about gas? Do you wait until the light is on?
Do you listen to kid music in the car? Favorite Spotify playlists or Pandora stations?
Favorite Easter candy? Have you bought any yet?
Hey Jen, I used to use the Nose Freda and once mentioned to the pediatrician how much my daughter hated it, and she suggested skipping it and only using sailine nose drops for baby. A couple of drops for stuffy, runny, or gunky nose and it helps flush out the yuck. Babies don’t love this either, but it is quick and helps! Nose Freda actually makes my favorite brand of the sailine because it does a nice gentle mist spray up the nose. Easy! And then baby is more clear to nurse again.
HI Jen, I’m excited to listen to your podcast. My #1 favorite Easter candy is Reese’s eggs and we always have them around the house. Once Easter is done we’re pretty much a Reese’s free house until the pumpkins come out for Halloween. And I always have to have 1 or 2 Cadbury creme eggs.
My boyfriend barely lets his tank get under half a tank…
Currently my gas light is on…
I always tell him I like to live life on the edge! Ha!
I’m definitely like your Mema in both packing and gas!
Not a fan of Easter candy… give me all the darkest chocolate on Valentine’s Day!
All the moms swore by that NoseFrida and I couldn’t bring myself to use it. We used the old fashioned bulb sucker for a very long time.
I hate packing so I totally procrastinate. AND I always wait for the gas light to come on. It drives my “fill up when you are half empty” husband crazy!
Ugh I don’t want to give into kid music already! But since you said it calmed a meltdown now you have me curious…
I love the Hersey’s milk chocolate eggs… might be on my second bag already.
Have a good weekend!
Listening to kids music can drive me bonkers sometimes but can definitely help calm irritated toddlers. I can recommend Raffi and Paul Spring though, they are great musicians and much easier to listen to than some kids music I have heard 😉
Ah that view looks so pretty! I hope you guys have a great time! I am the same way when it comes to getting gas, unless it is winter than I usually try not to let my gas light come on just in case. But every other time of the year it doesn’t make sense to me to fill it up before it hits E lol. Hope you’re having a great day. Thanks for sharing.
easter candy is my absolute FAVORITE! reese’s eggs are my true joy as are cadbury eggs, cad creme eggs, peanut butter melt aways, dark chox bunnies…ugh! love love love. and i always give up sweets/desserts for Lent, so come easter sunday, i eat until i’m sick 🙂
