Good morning. I hope that your Monday is the start to a wonderful week ahead! I was thrilled not to have any early clients after being in yoga teacher training all weekend. It’s nice to start the week at a relaxed pace with breakfast, coffee and computer time instead of hitting the ground running at 5 a.m.
I’m off to teach yoga at 8:15 but first a weekend and workouts recap.
Weekend Recap
Friday night was takeout sushi again from Namastay Kitchen because we didn’t wrap TT until 9 and were starving. Our sushi chef is the best! We shared a couple of rolls and the avocado egg rolls.
Saturday was a blur of taking yoga, teaching yoga and yoga teacher training. I ate this salad from Namastay around 1:30 p.m. while we were circled up talking about neti pots and sinus cleansing. It did not make for a very pleasant eating experience…haha.
On a related note, the TTs did a sinus cleansing practice earlier that morning but I missed it…I’ve never done it and it kind of scares me a little. Does anyone use or like neti pots or sinus rinses?
We wrapped up a few minutes early so that we could have a surprise engagement celebration for one of our TT leaders, Johnna. She just got engaged on top of a mountain in Switzerland!
I was in charge of the cake! 🙂 It was a black and white cake from Whole Foods and so delicious!
On Saturday evening I walked the girls for about an hour, cleaned the house and made a simple dinner of couscous, roasted asparagus and honey balsamic glazed chicken breasts. (<– love, love this recipe)
Joy the Baker mentioned banana bread in her Let It Be Sunday post and as soon as I read the sentence I got up and started baking my favorite paleo banana bread into muffins. I created this recipe a few years ago and it’s become the most popular post on my site by DOUBLE! Craziness.
I had (two) muffins with bacon and fried eggs. I spent the morning baking, writing my Sunday Morning Coffee Chat post and prepping to teach HIIT and Total Strength at the Y.
One of my friends told me that there was a photo of me and Sullie on the outside of a new apartment complex. I stopped to check it out and snap a pic when I left the Y. We did a photo shoot for a project that the ad agency I used to work for was doing a couple of years ago and I guess the photos live on in marketing materials. Kind of fun to see yourself on the side of a building. 🙂
I taught my 4 p.m. at the studio and then hopped into TT for a few minutes as they were wrapping up for the day with Thai Yoga Massage. They were doing IT bands at this point and there were a lot of good sound effects!
The rest of my evening was just cleaning, cooking and hanging out. I did take a long bath and that was really nice after a long weekend.

How neat to see a BIG photo of you on the side of a building! 🙂
I have a major allergy to dust mites (which are sadly impossible to avoid) – I use a sinus rinse (NeilMed) every night and it has made SUCH a difference with my allergies. I can breathe, I sleep better, and it’s even helped with depression and anxiety. It’s amazing how much better you feel when you don’t constantly feel like you’re fighting a cold!
It’s messy at first and takes a little getting used to, but it’s totally worth it if you’re an allergy sufferer.
I agree on the neti pot! It’s saved me from getting sinus infections for years now!
Looks like a wonderful weekend with lots of yummy eats! I am all about banana bread muffins and yours look like heaven. I might just have to make a batch this week (:
I LOVE my Neti pot! I’ve found that if I start using it the second I realize I am coming down with something (as soon as my nose feels the slightest bit stuffy or runny) and then keep using it at regular intervals each day while I’m sick I can keep my nose from becoming completely clogged (which is the most miserable feeling!). If you wait until your nose it totally clogged to use it it will still help, but I find it’s better overall to get on top of it right away and prevent it from happening at all.
I have used the Neti pot when I’m sick and it worked really well for me. I’ve developed some allergies having moved to NC and my congestion gets really bad in the spring. I’ve started oil pulling to see if that helps. I’ve heard that can really clear out the sinuses.
