What a week! I’m currently kicking my feet up after dinner while writing a rare evening blog. I used to be so bad about blogging at night and being on my computer late but now those are few and far between. Getting off my laptop at night has been so good for both my sanity and my relationship.
Now I make it a priority to get my posts written during the day but this week has just been insane with meetings, clients and classes so I wanted to pop in tonight because Friday offers much of the same (4 training clients in a row starting at 5:30 a.m. followed by teaching hot yoga…ouch).
I listen to things all the time. When I’m working I always have Spotify playing in the background. When we’re at home relaxing we always have a Pandora station playing and when I’m walking the dogs/running/driving in the car/cleaning/etc. I am always listening to a podcast or an audio book.
I’ve received a few questions about what podcasts I like so I thought I’d share a few.
I am OBSESSED with Dear Sugar Radio from Cheryl Strayed (author of Wild) and Steve Almond.
I also love the TED Radio Hour.
Both are from NPR which I listen to non-stop in the car. I feel like I never got in my parent’s car without hearing NPR and it’s a habit that’s stuck with me for many years.
When it comes to audio books, I recently finished Carry On Warrior and really enjoyed it.
Snapshots from this week…
I’ve had a several meetings with various apparel companies about fall and holiday orders for the studio. We recently got a new shipment of Liquido Active in and I’m totally in love with the prints.
Speaking of apparel, I stopped by The Track and Field Store and picked up this new outfit for the #UltimatePlankChallenge. The leggings are awesome and I like the stripe detail on the bra.
(Note: If you’re in Charlotte they are celebrating their one year anniversary by giving away a FREE ThermoDry Tank or T-Shirt on Friday, 5/21 when you spend $100!)
Wine tasting for Namastay Kitchen. (job perk!)
Fig and prosciutto flatbread during the wine tasting. Look familiar? It was inspired by my recipe!
And these two. So sweet, so cuddly and so in love with each other. I’ll be sharing some pup news later this weekend.
Alright, I need to get to bed for that early wake up call. I hope it’s been a great week for you guys!
I’d love your podcast recommendations!
Have you listened to any good audiobooks lately?
I just found “An Acquired Taste”! It’s so funny and such a great “girl time” podcast! I binged on all the recent episodes in like 2 days 😛
Awesome, I will check it out!
OMG DEAR SUGAR RADIO!
“Tiny Beautiful Things” is probably the best book I’ve ever read. It made me laugh outloud, warmed and broke my heart, and its pages are randomly smeared with my mascara from happy and sad tears. Such a moving book, by a woman whose words I can’t get enough of. I had no idea there was a podcast…. Thank you for bringing this to light!! My runs and commute just got a whole lot better!
Happy weekend to you, Jen! xo
I haven’t read this book and I’m downloading it on Audible IMMEDIATELY! Thank you! You will LOVE Dear Sugar Radio.
I have honestly just started listening to podcasts and I love it…I don’t know what I was waiting for, since I do so much work from home, it is great to listen to whatever I want. 🙂 My little sister loves listening to books on tape. She listens to them every morning on her walk to work in NYC. 🙂
So glad you’re enjoying them! I put them on all the time when I’m cleaning the house, walking the pups or just driving around. I love getting little tidbits of things here and there instead of always zoning out to music.
I am OBSESSED with all Podcasts from Gimlet Media. I find them really entertaining. I love Reply All, Start Up, and Surprisingly Awesome.
I also like Criminal, hosted by Phoebe Judge.
And of course– Serial. And if you like season 1 of Serial, then you’l enjoy Undisclosed as well. All really good 🙂
THANK YOU! I can’t wait to check out the Gimlet Media podcasts!
Also…would you believe I never listed to Serial!?
Lately, my fave podcasts are:

-Life Lately (I think you recommended this one in a past post!)

-J. Brown Yoga Talks

Thank you thank you! So appreciate this list!
Those prints are too cute–so perfect for summer! And that fig and prosciutto flatbread sounds unreal! I love figs but I always have such a hard time finding fresh ones. Every once in awhile, I get lucky at Fresh Market and they have them ? To be honest, I don’t listen to podcasts or audio books. We have about a 5-6 hour trip to visit my parents and I’ve been thinking we should try audiobooks. I think it would make the drives much more interesting!
Hey Amanda – fresh figs are one of my favorite foods of all time but yes, the season is way too short for them! I usually stalk out friends with fig trees and try to freeze as many as I can. Audiobooks make long drives so much more entertaining. I have been listening to them on road trips since I was 18 and my grandmother used to give me tapes!
I love love love the Happier podcast with Gretchen Rubin, the author of The Happiness Project. I just started listening to Mindy Kaling’s Why Not Me, so funny!
I love both of Mindy Kaling’s books! She’s hysterical.
podcast: Rich Roll’s podcasts are great! richroll.com
gracias!
On air with Ella!
