I popped out of bed this morning at the early hour of 5:30 and made my way to the yoga studio. There was no class this morning but I was craving quiet time on my mat.
I plugged in my iPod with a mix of some of my favorite chill songs and got to work on my ashtanga practice. The solitude was amazing. It was a beautiful way to start the day.
Overnight oats when I got to work.
Lunch was another tofu sandwich on a bagel thin with avocado, tomato, spinach and pepper jack cheese. Trader Joe’s honey whole wheat pretzels and grapes on the side.
When I came home for lunch I wasn’t hungry at all but I forced myself to eat anyway. And then something very strange happened…when I got back to work, I was starving. And I’m not talking “oh I think I may need a snack hungry.” I was literally feeling intense hunger pangs in my stomach. I held out for about an hour and drank water and tea to see if maybe I was dehydrated but I was still hungry. Does this ever happen to anyone else!? It was so weird!
I had an early snack of the new Blueberry Muffin Larabar.
I love Larabars and Blueberry Muffin is the newest flavor. Sometimes when new flavors are announced they are hard to find. I saw this at Common Market the other day when I was picking up a kombucha and had to grab one!
The ingredients include blueberries, cashews and dates with a bit of lemon and vanilla. I really liked this new flavor but I don’t think it can top some of the others that are my all-time favorites! I will definitely be purchasing it again though.
I ate a few more Trader Joe’s honey whole wheat pretzel sticks (they are soooo good) after work while I was making my playlist for tonight’s yoga class.
Here’s what I played. Fun and high energy to go with a very challenging flow. Everyone did awesome tonight – it was extra hot in the room since the temperatures outside are rising. Since I started teaching the Wednesday night class, Nicole (the Yuppie Yogini!) has been attending. I have loved having a friend in class every week! Thank you, Nicole!!!
I wasn’t starving for dinner after being in the hot room teaching so I made a salad for dinner.
Veggie burger salad – nothing you haven’t seen before!
What did cool me down from teaching hot class was the big bowl of ice cream I had after I ate the salad. I don’t mean to not take pictures of my dessert, I swear, but I’m always already blogging and editing pictures by the time I make it! ๐
Tomorrow is my Friday and we’re heading to visit my family in Georgia! Looking forward to a long weekend.
I would get those pains all the time at work. My shift goes until 10:30pm and around 8 sometimes my stomach will start to feel that way. Usually toast with PB makes it feel better. Thankfully we have a well stocked cafeteria at work.
Love the mix! ๐
Have a great weekend! My Friday is tomorrow and I’m looking forward to a nice relaxing long weekend, too.
I imagine it would be very challenging to work until 10:30 p.m. I would definitely need snacks too!
ENJOY your weekend!!!
You’re so sweet! I’m so glad you are finally teaching–makes my Wednesday!
๐
Haha my hunger NEVER makes sense! Nothing that a good ol’ PB sandwich can’t fix though! ๐
That morning practice sounds amazing!! And yay I’m so glad your teaching is going so well!! It sounds awesome ๐
Enjoy your long weekend Jen!! ๐
I LOVE the PB suggestions! Sounds good to me! ๐
Whoa – I had no idea about the blueberry muffin Larabars! Can’t wait to try one! Awesome playlist – LOVE some Mumford & Sons!!
Yay for “Friday” getting here early! Enjoy your long weekend with the family!
Definitely love the TJ honey wheat pretzels. They are way too yummy and a little bit addictive.
I need to try out your yoga class — especially with the playlist you featured. My new fave workout playlist addition is All of The Lights!
Would love to have you in class! It’s definitely a different style of yoga – challenging but fun and extra sweaty too! ๐
Jen- I actually have never done a yoga class with music like this. But I like your play list and think it would be fun! I def plan on attending a class but I am taking a break from yoga for the next month or so due to stitches in my shoulder blade area that just were removed but the area is super delicate. No stretching!
Lori – it’s definitely a very different style of yoga. I know you usually practice at Yoga One with no music or mirrors. This is a total departure from that but really fun. I would love to have you in class when you’re feeling better!
Still haven’t tried a LaraBar… not sure what is holding me back.
But I love veggie burger salads!
Brittany – you MUST try Larabars. They are awesome! My favorite flavors are cherry pie, peanut butter cookie, key lime pie, coconut pie and tropical fruit tart. They also just started making a PB chocolate chip that is seriously like a healthier version of a candy bar. So good!
what a fun playlist! and that new lara bars is delicious, although I really don’t think it tastes like a muffin. still good though!
agreed – they are tasty but not very muffin-esque!
oh and i love getting inspiration from your playlists too! ๐
I need to try a tofu sandwich like that! It look delicious!
Jen – I have been reading your blog for inspiration for awhile now. I’ve never left a comment but the playlist you posted for your yoga class sounds so amazing! You are truly inspiring in the way you balance all areas of your life. As a young widow and mother of a preschooler I need all the inspiration i can get to stay fit and healthy and enjoy life. You’re blog is one of the best sources of that inspiration for me right now. Thanks!
whoops your blog not “you’re” blog!
I love your yoga playlist! That’s the kind of music I’ve always wanted to hear during yoga. I need to come to Charlotte.
