I’m super excited about tonight’s post…we’re talking Valentine’s Day! I’ve got a really fun couple’s partner workout for you and recipe inspiration.
Let’s talk about the workout first. I don’t know about you but I love working out with a partner from time to time. It’s a fun way to mix it up and motivate yourself. When you do it with your significant other, it can be a great bonding activity. And the endorphins released by exercise will definitely put you in the mood for a good Valentine’s Day!
I’ve programmed a little bodyweight chipper for you that can be done at home with no equipment. You’ll start by hitting the road for a one mile run. Then you’ll come in for a mix of bodyweight exercises and planks. The way this works is that while one partner works, the other performs a plank. So for example, partner 1 does 25 air squats while partner B holds a plank. When parter A needs a break, switch.
*Note, for the leg throws you will take a break from the planks. Check out this image for a visual of what you’ll do together for this movement.
And here’s my food inspiration for you! I don’t know about you but I always prefer the intimacy of staying in and cooking on Valentine’s Day instead of fighting the crowds and going out. Here are some of my favorite at home “special” meal ideas.
Appetizers
A cheese plate. My most favorite app in the world!
Addictive Delicious Gooey Baked Camembert.
Entrees
Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin.
Crab Cake Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms.
Creamy Shrimp, Prosciutto and Mushroom Pasta.
Chicken Marsala Macaroni and Cheese.
Desserts
Chocolate Cupcakes with Salted Carmel Frosting.
What are you planning for Valentine’s Day? Going out, staying in?
Love the workout!! Hmm, maybe I can convince my boyfriend to do that one with me… I’m taking him to lunch at a new Thai restaurant I found that I know he’ll love and then we’re picking up steaks from the butcher for dinner! They won’t be cheap but it’ll be a drop in the bucket compared to going out 🙂 We might also go watch a local CrossFit competition since friends from both of our boxes will be competing! The last few years I was single and met friends for drinks which is always fun no matter what.
I wish I had plans on Vday with the boy, but we’re long distance and we couldn’t make this weekend work. Probably going to have a google hangout date instead.
Other than that, I have a session with a personal trainer and will study for the rest of the day.
Love the work out.. might have to give that one a go!! for V-day, nothing better than having lunch with the girls, then head out with the boy for dinner. Normally, we stay in and cook, but its summer in Aust and there are a number of festivals starting this weekend in our home-town. So we’re going to head out for a casual sushi dinner, followed by drinks at the ‘Garden of Unearthly Delights’!!
It’s supposed to snow again tomorrow afternoon into Sunday with crazy frigid temps so it looks like I will be home…Although I am hoping it’s not all that terrible because I was looking forward to my favorite fudge cake from The Cheesecake Factory for dessert 🙂
What a fun workout!
When I celebrate Valentines I always make a nice dinner at home, which I agree with you, is sooo much better than going out.
My husband is working overseas right now, so I am solo this Valentines, but am going to cook a nice meal for my parents, I figured I may as well spread the love somehow 🙂
YUM! Cheese plate is my absolute favorite too.
The hubs and I ordered lobsta and are staying home this year! Perfect night!
I convinced my hubby to take a partner yoga workshop with me at Charlotte Yoga! I haven’t been there in years, so I’m excited to see it. Afterwards my kids planned a “double date” for the 4 of us. ❤️ Thanks fir sharing all those recipes! The salmon looks amazing!
LOVE the Valentine’s Day partner workout! My workout buddy and I have done several of your workouts this week and LOVE them!!
Those cupcakes look soooo good! I am a sucker for anything caramel!
My boyfriend and I couldn’t get a dinner reservation until 9:30pm so we’re planning on making a nice wine and cheese plate before hand! Think we’ll have to try the partner workout in the morning too. Thanks for always compiling such awesome workouts! Have an amazing Valentines Day 🙂
staying in and making heart shaped pizzas!
Oh this girl is staying in with her little pup and enjoying a yummy dinner; my DVR’s; and some decadent chocolate cake…Can’t wait for it! 😉
My fiancé and I are getting married in 9 weeks!! We are seeing the swing band that will be playing at our wedding tonight! Jen – what are you doing for Valentines Day? I noticed that you appear to be wearing what looks a beautiful engagement ring in some of your recent instagram pics – do have some news to share??!!
I’m actually flying back home from a business trip tomorrow morning, so a colleague and I are doing galentine dinner tonight complete with seeing 50 shades afterwards, of course. And I plan to wear pink on the plane tomorrow!
I did this workout solo and split it into 10 rounds. Think my legs are going to be sore! Going to a Mardi Gras party Valentine’s night!
I love the valentines partner workout. Definitely kicked my butt. I made my boyfriend try it with me and we alternated wall sits with planks – so fun! Thanks for the guide!
