Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
Before I launch into the Valentine’s recap, a quick update on how I’m feeling after my face plant. I was in a lot of pain when I woke up yesterday. The left side of my lower back hurt so much that I couldn’t bend forward at all. Brandon had to help me put my tights on for work because I was literally in tears trying to get dressed. Getting in and out of the car hurt worse than anything else. I took ibuprofen and sat with a pillow and heating pad for most of the day at work. My back is finally starting to loosen up and I’m feeling a lot better this morning. Needless to say, yesterday was a rest day and I did not go to ashtanga this morning. If I continue to feel better throughout today I may try a short run after work but only if I think I can handle it. On the bright side, my face did not turn black and blue so I’m thankful for that. ๐
Now for the fun stuff! Brandon and I finally decided on crab cakes for our Valentine’s dinner. We went to the store together after work to stock up on all of the necessary ingredients. When we arrived home I found this waiting.
Flowers, wine and the table set with our nice china.
While I worked on dessert, Brandon prepared a cheese plate.
Sullie was very interested in the cheese plate!
We had a soft French cheese, Chaumes, gorgonzola, pecans, honey, grapes and crackers. The gorgonzola was so good with pecans and a drizzle of honey. I love cheese plates.
After a champagne toast, chatting and demolishing the cheese plate, we got to work in the kitchen on the crab cakes. We decided to use a recipe from one of our all-time favorite chefs, Frank Stitt. We loved his restaurants when we lived in Birmingham.
We topped the crab cakes with a chili sauce that consisted of mayo, chili-garlic sauce, a dash of Sirracha and a squeeze of lemon juice. Mixed greens on the side. This was my first time making crab cakes at home and I will admit that there were some choice words used when I was trying to form them into cakes and dip them in egg and breadcrumbs but they turned out wonderfully! We have four leftover crab cakes and are trying to decide what to do with them. Ideas?
Dessert was super simple but oh so delicious.
Peanut butter pie!!! I used the Pioneer Woman’s recipe with a few modifications. This pie is a peanut butter lover’s dream come true. So good.
And last but not least…honeymoon memories! I mentioned a couple weeks ago that Brandon and I have somehow been sucked into The Bachelor this season. Last night the show took place in Anguilla and they stayed at the same resort that we did for our honeymoon. It brought back so many happy memories for us and we are ready to go on a second honeymoon now!!! ๐
So a few pictures for you!

I’m so sorry you are still hurting! I’m also glad that you visit a chiropractor (my brother is one and as a GF instructor with regular back issues, I consider myself lucky).
Your honeymoon pictures are just beautiful.
Here’s to a quick recovery!!
Thank you Kristen! I am definitely a proponent of chiropractic care now. It’s been just what I needed to supplement all the running, lifting and yoga.
I love the last picture of you 2 on your honeymoon. It’s beautiful.
I’m catching up on The Bachelor tonight so now I really can’t wait to see this resort!
Thank you! ๐
Leftover crabcakes?? Oh, well, send them to me, of course!

I’m 100% addicted to The Bachelor and I’m so jealous you went on your honeymoon there! Gorgeous pictures ๐
What an amazing V-day dinner! We went to woodfire grill (saw Kevin!) – we usually stay in on Valentines day though b/c of all of the crowds.
I cannot believe how badly you got hurt, hope you recover quickly!
Soooo jealous. I really need to get back to Woodfire soon. I think that would totally be worth fighting the crowds.
What a lovely dinner! It’s extra sweet that you were able to prepare it together.
Hope the soreness eases soon!
So sad to hear about your injury ๐ hope you’re feeling tons better very soon! We had crabcakes for valentine dinner also – they were delicious! tonight i put the leftover crabcakes on top of a salad with goatcheese and balsamic vinaigrette –very tasty! Sending you lots of good thoughts for a speedy recovery (and another trip to Anguilla!)
I love your blog- the face plant sounds SO painful. It also sounds like something that would happen to me during yoga. Feel better soon!
Where in Anguilla did you stay for your honeymoon?! It looked beautiful!
