And I’m back to a night update. Some of you have commented that you’ve missed seeing my updates when you check the blog in the morning. I know my blogging has been a little sporadic lately but like I mentioned in my December Updates post, I’m trying to figure out a balance that works for the blog. I like to blog at night but it takes my attention away from Brandon and Sullie…and one of my goals when I made the career transition was to treat the blog more like a “job” and get it done during the day. Hasn’t happened. Hang with me, please? I’ll figure this thing out.
I taught the 9:15 hot vinyasa at Y2 this morning and it was ahhhhhhmazing. Mainly because I had one of my favorite yogis back in class. Long story short, she has been recovering from major surgery to remove cancerous tumors from her body. I want her to share her story on the blog soon…she is willing to share it and so inspirational. Having her in class was a huge bright spot in my week!
Lunch today was an open-faced turkey sandwich with mango chutney, tomato and provolone on Dakota. Orange slices and cottage cheese on the side. I had a weird cottage cheese craving at the store this week.
Brandon and I spent the afternoon together and started with a coffee date at Starbucks.
We split a cranberry bliss bar and it should come as no surprise that I ordered a soy latte.
After I jacked myself up on coffee, we went to the Y to workout. Even though I train clients, I rarely go to the gym just to work out. I’m always practicing yoga, running or teaching BodyPump. I had so much fun putting myself through a workout tonight. Here is what I accomplished in about 40 minutes.
- 10 minute warm up on the AMT machine at resistance of 10.
- 10 jump squats, 10 bosu pushups, 10 triceps dips, 10 lunges with one leg on the bench (each side) – 3 times through
- 10 cable flies, 10 wide dead rows, 3 times through
- 10 resistance band bridges with feet on a step – 10 on both legs and then 10 on each leg, 2 times through
- 20 weighted jacknifes
- 20 weighted crunches
- 20 weighed oblique cruches
Love your post! Thank you for helping me pull through my 2L final exams. I’m hitting yoga as often as I can and boy it makes all the difference. I look forward to reading your guest poster’s inspirational story. Congratulations on her recovery. Happy holidays!
alex – good luck on your finals! i can certainly remember what it was like when brandon was going through those. i think that working out while you’re studying is a great way to clear your mind and relieve stress!
Hey Jen, here are a few tips that might help you. If readers like seeing a post in the morning or late night — just write your post when you feel like it but then schedule it to go live at a different time.
Also, my Hubz and I try to have nightly “QT” aka. “Quality Time” where we devote the last 30 minutes before bed to simply spending time together. Talk about our days, weekend plans, whatever we like. And if I’m not done blogging by that time — it’s trouble! Haha.
But we hold each other accountable so that’s great! ๐
holly – thanks so much for the tips. i do need to get better about scheduling posts. also, i love the QT commitment. that is awesome!
Hurray! The Christmas tree made it home . Ours is up but the rest of the house is a decorating work in progress. Camille told me with great excitement “mommy we are decorating for Christmas.” She understands so much more this year. Now, if I can find her energy to finish and clean up!
so cute! love that she is starting to get it. that is fun! wish i could see the floyd house at christmas. how fun would it be to bake some cookies together? love you!
Amazingly gorrrrgeous pic! 2. I loooooooooove cottage cheese 3. no shame in being talked into the 2 bottles of wine, I hope you enjoy them !! ๐ XXOOOO also, coffee dates are the best-hope you had some amazing connecting time w/ your love!
LOVE the new header! Looks so great. This was an awesome redesign ๐
thank you so much! i’m so pleased with it!
Wow I seriously LOVE that festive header Jen!! ๐
And that workout sounds killer! I can’t do 20 regular jacknives, let alone weighted ones! ๐
i know, jackknifes crush my soul…i mean, my abs! ๐
The festive new header is AWESOME! And I had the weird cottage cheese craving this week, too!?! SO random b/c I haven’t had the stuff in months. I used to go through a tub a week b/c I would eat protein pancakes all the time. I just eat it straight out of the tub w/ a spoon b/c I’m trashy like that. NOM.
girl, i like to dip crackers/triscuits right into the tub and eat it. haha.
