Did you know yesterday was National Dog Day? I had no less than 10 people text or ask me in person where my post was. It appears I’m at “crazy dog lady” status with my friends. I finally got it together and posted one on Instagram around 10:30 last night. Haha.
I do have to admit that hot on the heels of the crazy amount of “first day of school” pictures that overwhelmed my news feed at the beginning of this week, that National Dog Day was a breath of fresh air. 🙂
Here are a few things I’ve been eating this week!
I met a friend at Sunflour for breakfast yesterday and this egg, cheddar and avocado on sourdough rocked my world. It was perfect.
The morning glory muffins at Sunflour are one of my favorite things ever so I got one to bring home with me and ate it for breakfast this morning!
It’s been all salads for lunch this week. I loved today’s Greek-inspired mixture of spinach, garbanzo beans, yellow tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, pine nuts, avocado and sliced burgundy okra. My favorite farmer gave the the idea to slice raw okra on salads. He said they were like croutons. While I think the crouton thing was a bit of a stretch, they do add a nice crunch.
This was the ugliest dinner and I considered not posting it but it was so good I have to. I sauteed pattypan squash, eggplant, potatoes and mushrooms and then tossed them with pesto and Italian sausage that I bought at the farmers market. It was one of those throw together meals that totally surprises you.
Last night I cooked flank steak and marinated it in a soy/lime/ginger mixture. I served it with roasted okra with feta and Sriracha aioli, tomatoes and corn. I am reaching burnout level similar to end of season brussels sprouts burnout with okra right now.
I’m embracing SnapChat and I’ve posted a story every day. Most are of the girls but today I posted my workout. It was sweaty! Follow me @jendecurtins.
This Spotify playlist was on point last night for my yoga class.
And this quote totally made my morning! 🙂
Off to take a yoga class!
Did you participate in the National Dog Day posting frenzy?
Do you judge the taste of food by its appearance? (It’s okay, I totally do!)
Sunflour looks all kinds of amazing, mmmm!
Easily one of my favorite spots in Charlotte!
I like eating okra raw, thinly sliced, and drizzled with soy sauce. This tastes fantastic over rice.
Yum!! Thanks for the idea!
I feel confident when I say I’m sure people get overwhelmed constantly seeing your dogs in their feeds
A few months ago I posted about creating a separate Instagram account for the girls and every single person that responded said to keep it how it is. So…I guess maybe don’t follow me on social if it bothers you? Because it’s definitely something I’m going to post as they’re a huge part of my life.
Keep the puppy pics coming. I love them 🙂 in fact I’d love to hear about how zoeys training is going. i need to hear that my Ruby girl isn’t the only spazz!!!
Thanks, I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Sullie’s been a fixture on this blog since I started it five and a half years ago and it’s been fun to document Zoey’s puppy life. Training update soon…it’s been a wild ride! You’re not alone! 🙂
The puppy pics are one of my favorite things!!! I love how they smile. There’s nothing better than a dog’s love.
Sunflour’s muffins are so good! I love their vegan raspberry one. I definitely judge the taste of food by its appearance, but scarf it down anyways 🙂 I participated in National Dog Day by posting a video of my little frenchie going bonkers after a bath. I got such a kick out of it!
That sounds delicious! Zoey and Sullie do the same thing after a bath. It’s too funny!
My friends were the same with me on National Dog Day. I’m totally the crazy dog lady!
Happy National Dog Day! Those eats look awesome–especially the PB! I also love your playlist–Often in the Kygo remix is amazing!
Love your girls…keep pictures coming! My dog is always a bright spot in my day. I definitely judge food by the appearance (and if we’re being honest, I sometimes judge books by their cover too. Oops!).
Happy to hear that! I plan on it!
I LOVE the photos of your sweet dogs! Always puts a smile on my face when I see a post with them in it. I’m a dog mom (to a very lovable Rottweiler, Savannah) and know just how wonderful it is to have a furball in your life. She is love and joy in their purest forms. So keep the pup pics coming, and scatter their sunshine!!!
Thank you! I completely agree. Not stopping anytime soon!
