Happy weekend. I’m enjoying a slow and relaxing start to my Sunday which is such a nice contrast to the rest of the week where I’m hustling from the time my eyes open. I’m almost through a pot of coffee, windows are open and music is playing in the background. I just finished programming the workouts for my app subscribers for the week and loading them in and now I’m switching focus to writing this blog post. Honestly, I’m doing so much in-person training and teaching these days that it’s a treat to sit in front of my laptop for a couple of hours and focus on this stuff.
The format of today’s post is a high-level overview of a week in the life along with some news on some work changes for me!
SUNDAY
Last Sunday morning I slept in after my hiking adventures and took it easy on the workout front. I did head to the Charlotte Yoga midday to sub our CY Service class to raise money for Tunnels To Towers Foundation. (I do not practice with my students when I teach.) It was a great class and always happy to support this amazing organization!

After getting myself fed and cleaned up after class, my next stop was an event at Carolina Facial Plastics to check out their new med spa space. CFP has grown so much that they’ve taken over a space right across from their main office where they’ll have additional injectors and another esthetician on staff. It was so nice to visit and chat with everyone! The new office is gorgeous! We were reminiscing on how long we’ve been working together – I wrote my first post for them in 2013 and we’ve been through turning 30, pregnancy, breastfeeding and turning 40 together. A whole decade of changing skincare needs!

It was such a gorgeous day that I opted for a fajita dinner on the patio at Superica over cooking. It was my first time dining at Superica and I really, really liked it! I’m not the biggest fan of going out for Mexican but this was on the fresh and lighter side. The homemade salsas were SO delicious and the chips were airy and crispy. I was super impressed by the fajitas – the chicken was thick, juicy and well-seasoned and the homemade tortillas were to die for! I’d have loved a little more veggies with the fajitas but overall – I’d 100% order again! I’ll be back – and with Finn for sure. It’s a super family-friendly spot.
MONDAY
I was definitely feeling some delayed onset muscle soreness when I woke up on Monday but as I got moving, I felt a lot better. I did five client training sessions at The Health Club and taught one yoga class at Charlotte Yoga between the hours of 7a and 1:30p.

I went home after my last session for lunch and a reset before heading back to the gym at 4:30p to workout and then teach yoga. I did a 50 minute full body lift and then taught a hot power class.
I got home around 7:30p, prepped a dinner of chicken, sweet potatoes and broccoli then showered while it was cooking. I ate and then got prepped for another busy day.
TUESDAY
The alarm went off at the early hour of 5a as I was to be at the gym to kick off a morning of clients at 6a.

I had six sessions back-to-back at MOTION.
- 6a – 4 person small group of running/hiking friends
- 7a – 2 person semi-private
- 7:45a – solo session
- 8:30a – 4 person small goup
- 9:30a – solo session
- 10a – solo session
- 10:45a – solo session
And for my big news – I am fully leaving MOTION as a personal trainer to go full-time as yoga lead and personal trainer at The Health Club. While this the right career move for me, it’s sooooo bittersweet. MOTION (formerly Metro Fitness Club) has been my “gym home” since 2012 and I’ve worn so many hats at this gym – general manager, marketing manager, CrossFit coach, personal trainer.
I adore the clients that I work with at MOTION and I work alongside some incredible trainers who are also just cool people. Some of my clients are coming with me, some are going to do their own thing and some are transitioning to other trainers. I’ve picked up some new (and also wonderful) clients at THC and I just know it will all work out the way it’s supposed to.
The Health Club just opened in the Oakhurst area of Charlotte and is a really needed addition to the Charlotte fitness scene. It’s 18,000 square feet of gym space with top-of-the-line equipment, three group fitness studios and high-end locker rooms with sauna, steam, cold plunge and hot tub areas. I’m so pumped to be there but change is hard – even when it’s good change! The last thing I’ll say is that I’m LEVEL 10 PUMPED to be working for a female-owned business!

I got so emotional on my way to the gym on Tuesday morning as it was my last session with some of my clients. I’ll be fully phasing out over the next few weeks. I was very fortunate to have Amanda waiting for me back at home for a 90-minute massage. It’s been a minute since I had a really thorough massage and I felt like a different person after. I’ve known Amanda since before I was pregnant (she used to work for Y2 when I was there) and no one does massage like Amanda. So fortunate to have her doing in-homes now.

Post-massage vitamin D with the pups. Easy two mile walk on a pretty day.

And then off to Charlotte Yoga to teach my Tuesday night 5:45p. It was a packed house with fun energy. We had a sweaty good time! It is worth noting that I am NOT leaving Charlotte Yoga. <3
I showered and reheated leftovers when I got home and then put myself to bed at 9:30p.
WEDNESDAY
Another 5a alarm and 6a gym arrival at The Health Club. I trained clients at 6:15a, 7:15a, 8a, 8:45a and 9:30a before taking off to CY to teach yoga at 10:45a.

Class was so lovely. So, so lovely.

After spending all morning working everyone else out, it was my turn! I ran a 10K where I built pace for the first three miles and then gradually came back down. Felt great for this one after my massage!

Wednesdays are my favorite day of the week because I always get Finn!!!! He’s with me every Wednesday and Thursday night and then his dad and I alternate Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is also why you’ll see that my week is front loaded with work while he’s with his dad.
I picked him up from school at 2:30p and we came home to snack and hang. He had soccer practice Wednesday evening and then we came home for dinner and bedtime.
THURSDAY
I got to sleep in until the late hour of 6a (haha) and then got up to get ready for work and Finn ready for school. I dropped him off at 7:35a and then went straight to the gym to train clients at 8a, 8:45a and 9:30a. I usually teach yoga at 10:45a but I had to take Zoey to a specialist vet appointment at CARE. I’ll give a full Zoey update in another post but just send us your prayers. Lots of unknown right now.

Happy boy at school pickup. I only live a block from his elementary school and it’s so nice to walk. We hung out at home for a bit after school and then headed back to his school around 6p for art night!
Finn’s school has a truly amazing art teacher – we’d heard great things about her before he started at the school and art quickly became Finn’s favorite of the specials. On Thursday night the school turned into an art gallery and every single student had art hanging in the hallways. It was so cool to walk through and see it all!
Another thing I loved seeing was how confident and comfortable Finn has become at school. He’s come a long way since the beginning of school and it was fun to see him running around, greeting friends and chatting with teachers.
FRIDAY
6a wakeup + Finn to school and mom to work at The Health Club. I had a small group at 8:30a and a solo session at 9:30a. Then it was lift time!

We have the coolest leg machines at The Health Club and this Booty Builder Hip Thrust machine is 100%. So much more comfortable than having a heavy barbell across your hips.
I did full body and then taught yoga at noon. I had one more client from 1:15p-2p and then picked Finn up from school at 2:30p.

I don’t have much to report from the afternoon. Finn seemed a little out of sorts and ended up falling asleep on top of me at 5p and I had to wake him up at 6:45p! He very rarely naps these days. We both had an easy dinner and then he went down again no problem. I was grateful for a very low-key Friday afternoon and evening after a busy week.
SATURDAY

We kicked off our Saturday at OMG Donuts. Finn had a chocolate glazed with sprinkles and I had a blueberry cake donut that I took to go and ate later.

First farmers market trip in months. My schedule has been nutty and I miss my weekend market trips to Charlotte Regional. Looking forward to making this a priority and part of the routine again. It was great to see my farmer friends.

After a quick lunch and reset at home, Finn had a soccer game. The Flaming Falcons made an excellent showing.

Finn has shown a real interest in soccer so it’s something I’m trying to let him explore. We’re doing an 8U rec league through Charlotte Soccer Academy and it’s been a great experience so far. He’s enthusiastic but tends to hold back and his coach has been great about meeting him where he’s at and coaching him in a slow and encouraging way.

I decided to pop into Trader Joe’s on the way home because there’s one near the soccer fields and I’m not usually close to a TJs. Well, we all know how “grabbing a few things” goes at Trader Joe’s. The next thing I knew, our cart was full and I was spending $250 but we are well-stocked!

I got our groceries unloaded and put away and then Virginia came over to meet us for a walk. We strolled three miles around the neighborhood with the dogs and chatted. Y’all, Finn fell asleep again!!! Growth spurt? He never naps! (And I always give him the choice of walk or ride – or both!)

We finished our Saturday on the couch with a movie night. We watched Yes Day and Finn laughed out loud and absolutely loved it. He’s now begging me to have a Yes Day.
And that was a full seven days! I hope you enjoyed spending the week with me and seeing a little peek into the flow of our days/life.
Congrats to embracing change!
you do an incredible job of balancing it all!! it is so apparent that Finn is your #1 priority, and how amazing you have the flexibility to plan your schedule around him – you are such a good mom to him! I’m amazed how much you can accomplish and still be so present for him. Congrats on the change! You’re a boss!!
