Good morning! I hope your week is off to a great start. If you’re kind of feeling like it’s not, remember what I always tell my 6 a.m. yoga class…you choose your attitude. 😉
Thank you for the encouraging words about Sullie and her surgery on Wednesday. You know I will keep you all updated. We are going to choose positivity and hope right now instead of worst-case thinking. I tried to soak up a lot of QT with her this weekend. And with that, here’s the weekend recap.
I taught my last class of the day on Friday at 4:20 p.m. and then treated myself to a long-overdue manicure and pedicure before heading uptown (in crazy, crazy rain) to support some friends and the opening of their new show Breathing Space at Sozo Gallery.
The show was stunning and soulful and the room was full of some of friends and familiar faces. We are going to be hosting this show at Y2 in June and I can’t wait.
After the show we popped next door for a few small plates at Malabar. We shared stuffed chilis, octopus and chicken empanadas.
And I posed with a giant bird in Hearst Tower on the way back to our car.
A few farmers market opened up in our neighborhood so I went to check it out on Saturday morning.
It’s awesome to have a market right around the corner but I did miss the variety and selection that I find at the Charlotte Regional Market (especially organics and meats) so I’ll still be heading over there regularly. Here’s a selection of what I bought on Saturday.
The rest of my Saturday was pretty magical. I taught my 11:15 hot class and then took advantage of a 90-minute massage that was open with one of our therapists at the studio. My back has been a little wonky for the last couple of weeks and I can’t even begin to tell you how much she helped. I feel almost 100% back to normal two days later. When I got home I ate lunch, lounged around, cleaned, napped and then took the girls for a really long walk while I talked to my mom and grandmother. We covered 4 miles! They were happy.
I got dressed up and headed off to a friend’s birthday celebration. I had a plate of sushi when I arrived.
And then a slice of cake. It was from Edible Art and oh so yummy!
Lina and I have been friends since teacher training five years ago. Funny story…the first weekend of teacher training she basically told me we were going to be friends…and she was right. We became fast friends! She’s an amazingly beautiful woman both inside and out. We’ve shared so many special moments together including her wedding in the Dominican Republic, my 30th birthday, her baby shower and much more.
We did the brunch thing on Sunday morning and then I got ready to head to the Dowd Y to teach my once-a-month rotational class. This month I taught Total Strength and the workout was awesome! I went straight from the Y to Y2 to teach my 11th and final class of the week. Class was great and a nice way to wrap up the week.
After a Trader Joe’s trip, I came home to spend some time with my little family. My fiance, the girls and I took a walk. The weather was so gorgeous.
We spent the evening on the back deck enjoying the weather and using our grill for the first time!
And we wrapped up the night on the couch watching the movie Room. We’re only about halfway done with it but it’s intense.
I’m off to train two clients and teach a hot class. So starts another week and I intend to make it a really good one! I hope you do too! 🙂
Tell me about your weekend, what was the highlight?
What’s the last movie you saw?
Do you grill out often?
When it’s summer I grill every chance I get! Everything tastes better grilled!!
I can’t wait to get to a Farmer’s Market some time soon! It’s my goal to go at least once or twice 😛
Do it! The stuff there tastes amazing and is so fresh. And it feels really nice to support the community and eat locally!
I’m thinking of you and Sullie and sending positive vibes your way!!! It sounds like your weekend was the perfect balance of work and play. Btw, you look extra fit, healthy and happy these days.
Thank you so much for your kind and sweet words Brittany! <3
That sounds like such a great mix of relaxing, fun, and eventful weekend! This weekend I got to try out disc golf and also took my pup on a pretty long walk it was the perfect weekend!
I’ve never tried disc golf but I tend to struggle with anything requiring direction and hand/eye coordination! 🙂
My highlight was getting a bunch of things planted in my flower garden. hopefully its not followed by heartache of oh *&^(# i spent that much on that plant and it died next weekend…LOL. i only seem to have a semi-green thumb. we enjoyed dinner outside last night as well but cannot have a grill on our patio. i am so so about the grill. takes a long time and im not a huge “char” fan but my family loves the grill. i swear my parents grill all summer long every meal. i did go to a Cavs party on saturday night and they lost. obviously i jinxed them by not watching in my usual spot 🙂
Sending your plants strong growing vibes! I hope that your garden flourishes this year!
It looks like you had the perfect balance of a great weekend: equal parts busy, fun, and relaxing! I was out of town at my cousin’s wedding and had an absolute blast! We grill out as often as we can…I love the versatile flavors that grilling offers. And it makes it feel so much like summer!
Such sweet pups!
Last movie I watched was How To Be Single! The guy I’m dating told me he’d download it and watch it with me if I promised not to tell anyone it was his idea !
Highlight of the weekend – Pacing the 2:00 finish group at the Chicago Spring Half Marathon on Sunday!! Such a rewarding experience!
Haha! Love this story!
I’ve never paced a race but I’ve used a pacer and boy did I ever appreciate them. You are so awesome for doing that!
I can’t even remember the last movie that I saw, but i’m really looking forward to seeing Me Before You. It has been my favorite book i’ve read so far this year…emotional and really ties at your heartstrings.
I loved that book too!
Your back deck is so festive. I love the lights! Sending prayers for Sullie, hope everything goes well! I went to Malabar a few years back and loved it!
Thank you! I’m all about the twinkly lights! 🙂
I love to grill and I am planning on having a big BBQ this weekend! 🙂 Love your outfits and those shoes…I need wedges up here, because the cobblestones do not do well with high heels…HAHA! Looking gorgeous as always! XOXO
So fun! Love entertaining especially when you can include the outdoors! I hope the weather is getting nicer and warmer there for you and that it’s a lovely MDW!
