Here are a few weekend photos from the iPhone.
Friday evening I swung by Erin McDermott’s house to pick up some holiday gifts and ended up wearing this buddha necklace home. I seriously just love everything she makes and she is truly one of the sweetest and most thoughtful women ever.
Bathroom tub remodel. I had the tub and the tile stripped and resurfaced. It’s so fresh, clean and white now. Love my little black and white bathroom.

I saw Dallas Buyers Club which was so heavy but beautifully done. The movie is based on the true story of a Texas man who was diagnosed with AIDS in the 80s and worked around the system to get himself and others the treatment that they needed. The storytelling in the film was great. The acting by Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey was amazing and the transformations they had to make physically to play the roles was insane. It’s definitely one of those movies that sticks with you after you watch it.
Does it get any better than good bread dipped in good olive oil and balsamic and good wine?
I had wine and small plates at Good Food On Montford. I tried two dishes that I have never had there before. The first was the Bun which is five spice rubbed pork belly, hoisin and pickled vegetables. It’s one of the things they are known for and it certainly lived up to the hype. It was melt in your mouth good.
The second thing I tried was the Korean Beef over crispy rice. Also outstanding.
Finished it up with spiced apple cake with salted caramel ice cream.
Sunday afternoon baking in prep for Christmas was a little crazy. I made chewy molasses cookies, chocolate chip walnut banana bread, chocolate dipped macaroons, white chocolate and cranberry macaroons and cinnamon crunch toffee and chocolate bark. I’ll also be baking a key lime pie.
And this isn’t technically from the weekend but it’s too cute not to share. Goofy Sullie with a stuffed bunny on her head and not caring one bit about it. She’s the cutest! 🙂
Have you done any holiday baking? What have you made?
One of my clients sent me home tonight with Pumpkin Bread Pudding and NJ Bagels. My Mom and I are making my Dad’s infamous Cream Cheese Cookies with a dollop of raspberry jelly. A family tradition we’ve been doing for years and years…
You knocked out a ton of baking!! I have been toying with making some paleo pies, as well as cinnamon rolls to bake off on Wednesday morning…but I keep procrastinating! I think it is cleaning up the aftermath that is deterring me!
I did a HUGE amount of holiday baking before we began our travel on Saturday. It all turned out great and has been enjoyed by many! Looks like you had a great weekend.
I LOVE those necklaces… so pretty!!! I like how you have one gold and one silver too – makes for a neat combo!
My mom used to make the best molasses cookies, so my mouth’s watering right now! 🙂 I made some fudge the other day and I’m hoping to make Ohio River Bottom Sludge Cake to take to my in-laws on Christmas!
Your bathroom looks so nice! Do you mind my asking who you used for your bathroom tub remodel? I live in Charlotte and really need to have my tub redone. Thanks!
oh i was at good food on friday! i LOVE that place!
Also loving the black and white tiles in your bathroom!!
I love baking for the holidays! This year I made dark chocolate, cherry, pistachio cookies and lemon white chocolate cookies. 🙂
Happy Holidays Jen!!
Jen, your weekend sounds really lovely. Actually, all of your weekends sound pretty awesome. Besides pies and granola, which were Christmas gifts, I’ve knocked out some festive cookies: classic cut-outs, peppermint bites, Swedish pastry cookies (almond + coconut with a half maraschino cherry on top), peanut butter, molasses chewies, and citrus butter cookies. I can’t actually eat gluten and all these treats were made with wheat flour, so lots of sweet treats for friends and family 🙂
Can you share the recipes for your holiday baking? Those molasses cookies look great!
I’ve done very minimal holiday baking – mostly just some chocolate crinkle cookies with ancho chili pepper. They were so good!
