It was a great weekend over here. While we were dealing with some business stuff behind the scenes, we made time for plenty of fun, family, friends and food. Since we didn’t have teacher training this weekend, it felt extra long and nice.
FRIDAY
We said goodbye to Bear Bundon on Friday night. I know his cute face is all you can look at here but please look down at his neck. He was filthy from playing with Zoey. They were obsessed with chewing each other’s face and neck.
Zoey had to get in one last session of tug of war with Bear. I was cracking up over how long she stretched herself out.
Group picture. Bear’s dad texted me the next day and said that Bear was bored and tired. Zoey definitely misses him. Sullie couldn’t care less.
We stayed in on Friday night (surprise, surprise) and ordered La Shish Kabob via Postmates (use code EZ8IN for $10 towards your first delivery).
My plate. Virginia came over with Stella and we spent a couple of hours catching up with her and Zoey got a little more puppy playtime in.
SATURDAY
You guys know that my normal Saturday routine is the farmers market and maybe a run. Well, I woke up Saturday with yoga on my mind. I felt like I really needed to practice so to the studio I went. I took Tanner’s 9:30 and then taught my 11:15 after.
Side note, I’m participating in a fun yoga challenge this month on my yoga Instagram account, poweryogaflow. Fellow yogi friends, follow me there. <3
We got showered up and grabbed lunch at Namastay Kitchen. I had a salad with grilled tofu. Someone recently asked me if you can eat at Namastay if you don’t attend Y2 and YES! It’s a completely separate restaurant and business from the studio. Come see us!
We spent a couple of hours working in tandem on some things for the studio on Saturday afternoon. We broke for a long walk with the pups before getting ready for dinner. We walked for about an hour as you can tell by those tongues hanging out of their mouthes! I am grateful for the trails in our new neighborhood. They are so relaxing and peaceful. I used them every day over the weekend.
We decided to use a gift card that we’d had for quite a while and go to dinner at Stagioni, one of our favorite Charlotte spots. I wore a dress that I recently got from thredUP (remember you can use code PBRUNNER to save 40% off your first thredUP order). My necklace is Erin McDermott and shoes are Toms.
Dinner at Stagioni didn’t disappoint! We sat at the pizza bar because my foodie self loves to watch the action in the kitchen.
I think it’s so entertaining (and inspiring) to see them cooking and plating everything. Stagioni’s kitchen is REALLY open so I’m always impressed by how clean and calm everything is. I don’t know about you guys but my kitchen is usually a hot mess when I have multiple things going.
We started with the grilled octopus. It was a summer presentation with squash and zucchini, tomato vinaigrette, pesto and olive tapenade. The octopus was very tender.
We also shared a take on a peach panzanella salad with burrata. This was amazing and I’m so glad we ordered it! It was a featured special on Saturday evening.
Tanner had a bone-in pork chop for dinner. It was served with farro, peaches, prosciutto, basil, peach glaze, corn bread gremolata and fennel. I had a few bites and it was great.
I was like, “gimme a pizza!” I had the tartufi pizza with mozzarella, mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula and truffle oil.
If you’re in the Charlotte area and haven’t check out Stagioni, give it a try. It’s one of my favorites in Charlotte for about three years running now.
SUNDAY
Sunday was such a great reset day. I had a smoothie bowl for breakfast and then Tanner and I cleaned for most of the morning.
In addition to the house, Tanner also cleaned Arnie. Y’all…this poor little guy. He’s about 15 and a half and he’s having a hard time these days. He doesn’t do much of anything and can’t really see or hear. It’s terrible. I don’t show him much on my blog because he doesn’t do much more than sleep in his crate or near the girls all day. The peppiest he’s been in a long time was when my nieces were here. They thought he was so cute.
Around 2 p.m. I got my lemon coconut pound cake ready to go in the oven and then ran 5 miles with Virginia while it baked. After my run I went to the studio to teach a class at 4 and then to the grocery.
We finished off the weekend by hosting Tanner’s family for dinner. I loved the grilled chicken with peaches and green tomatoes recipe that I made. Highly recommend. I always have fun cooking for others and trying new recipes so it was a fun way to end the weekend and nice to catch up.
What did you do over the weekend?
Have you grilled anything delicious lately?
Those pizzas look amazing!
My Loki Bear needs a trim too – he’s starting to look more like a woolly lamb than a bear.
Haha, I feel you. We need to make grooming appointments ASAP!
I’m in the same position with my 16 year old dachshund- breaks my heart. 🙁
I’m sorry to hear this Julie. And yes, it is heartbreaking.
Looks and sounds like a fun weekend. I heart Stagioni! After viewing those pics of your food, now I’m craving it, lol.
Out of curiosity, have y’all ever tried Cellar at Duckworth’s or Stoke in Uptown? We don’t go uptown much, but have really enjoyed those spots!
Hey Lauren – we never make it Uptown but thanks for these recommendations. We’ll have to venture out of our comfort zone! 🙂
Ooo that Le Shish Kabob has me craving Mediterranean food now! I’d totally wanna sit at the pizza bar to watch the chefs do their cooking too. Restaurants where you can see the kitchen are the best! This weekend I got back from cross country camp Friday evening, then headed down to North Carolina suuuuuper early on Saturday. My family is spending the week at Carolina beach, so it’s been really relaxing and fun.
xxMeah
I LOVE Mediterranean food. It’s one of my top choices when it comes to take out!
I hope you’ve enjoyed the beach!
That first pic of bear is so adorable!
I’ve never had green tomatoes but now I’m intrigued!
They are very southern. Typically, they’re served fried but these grilled ones were great. They’re very tangy and firm!
