FRIDAY
Post-work run with Sarah.
We covered an easy four miles and my legs felt the best they have in weeks. Taper is working!
Dinner at George’s with Brandon.
Carafe of wine.
Cheap endless happy hour appetizers…we created a tapas spread for dinner (heavy on the seafood).
Tuna bites.
Calamari.
French country pizza.
White wine mussels.
SATURDAY
Started with Pumpkin Banana Oatmeal.
Then there were two big unpictured events.
1. We finally cleaned out our third bedroom/office area. It was still kind of a catch all for random stuff and boxes after the move. Our plans are for it to serve as a hang-out/workout room. I am so excited to finally have a space at home where I can practice yoga. And on that note…
2. I started my 8-week ashtanga challenge yesterday afternoon. I won’t fully be able to participate in the first two weeks due to the marathon and recovery but we had our first meeting/practice yesterday. It was great. Over the course of eight weeks we attend a meeting every Saturday afternoon where we learn about ashtanga. Then we practice three times a week at the studio and once at home (thus my excitement about our new space). I will be writing a post dedicated to ashtanga and explaining the challenge and why I’m doing it soon.
Sarah and Ryan came over for dinner last night. They are getting married next weekend and since we won’t be able to attend the wedding, I wanted to see them before!
We had a fun spread. Sarah brought the appetizers and the salad.
Veggies, crackers and cheese.
Baba ganoush. Sorry – didn’t get a shot before we dug in!
Cornbread.
Mixed greens with honeycrisp apples, pears, onion, candied pecans and feta.
Emily’s Vegan Black Bean and Butternut Squash Chili for the girls. Unpictured White Chicken Chili for the boys.
Topped my chili off with hot sauce, Greek yogurt and cheese.
We also had unpictured Apple Crisp with ice cream while cheering the Dawgs and Giants to victory. 😀
Hope you’ve all had a great weekend so far. I have a TON to get done today – run, teach total strength and lots of marathon prep. Back later tonight with updates!
Thanks so much for the comment on my blog about my first Ashtanga class! I’ve been reading your blog for awhile and your posts have really inspired me to give it a try 🙂 I travel to Charlotte often so I’m hoping to get a class in at y2yoga soon – I’ve heard great things. Good look with your immersion, I can’t wait read more about it!
I am so glad to hear tapering is working. It really does wonders!
I’m excited to hear about your ashtanga challenge- and hear more about what ashtanga is exactly 🙂
