Happy Monday! I hope the week is off to a great start for everyone. I got to sleep until 7:30 this morning so I am feeling pretty amazing after almost 9 hours of sleep. The rest of the week won’t be so kind with 5:30 and 6 a.m. clients to I took advantage while I could!
As I mentioned in last night’s post, I had a really great weekend! Here are some photo highlights…
Friday sushi lunch.
Which was all great until I dropped the bottle of soy sauce and it shattered all over the floor. This is seriously the story of my life. I am so clumsy. My yoga classes come with warnings, “Your teacher may kick you or bump into you.” Ha. 🙂
I needed a cookie after that. I picked up a sugar cookie with frosting from Whole Foods and all was well in my world again.
Friday night was spent with the teacher trainees watching the yoga documentary Enlighten Up. I highly, highly recommend watching this if you are at all into yoga or wondering what all this yoga stuff is about. The documentary follows this guy who has no previous yoga experience all over the world as he experiences different types of yoga and different teachers. It’s entertaining, educational and really easy to watch. And yes…we had a little wine and apps spread going while we movie watched. Love our studio.
On Saturday morning I treated myself to a little Lululemon shopping trip after I taught a hot yoga class. I saw these blue Wunder Unders in last week’s product notification email and knew I had to have them! Three of the five things I got were on sale + I get an ambassador discount so it was a good haul!
I haven’t taken this hoodie off since purchasing it on Saturday. It’s the Runaway Fleece and it’s on final sale for just $69 right now so check it out quickly! The hoodie is really cozy and my favorite features are the wide waistband, the roomy hood and the thumbholes on the sleeves that also have pullover mittens that Lulu calls “cuffins.” Perfect for this cold weather we’re having in Carolina this winter. And do we even need to talk about the blue Wunder Unders? Those were a no-brainer and the bonus is that they’re reversible to black.
I had one of the best salads that I’ve eaten in months over the weekend. Kale, spinach, arugula, rare steak, golden beets, yellow tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, dried cranberries and glazed pecans with balsamic. SO GOOD!
Many hours spent circled up with teacher trainees.
To finish up this post, I saw the movie Her this weekend. It was disturbing and really sad. If you’re unfamiliar with the plot, Joaquin Phoenix’s character plays a writer who falls in love with his operating system that has been specially constructed for him and his needs. I must have said, “this is so weird” at least 25 times throughout the movie but the end was the real gut wrencher. Ugh, still thinking about it. Has anyone else seen this movie? What did you think?
That’s all I’ve got for now! Hope it was a good weekend for you too.
Did you watch any movies this weekend? What was the best thing you ate?
I just wanted to say I would looove to take some of your yoga classes! Your posts are always so inspiring!!
I watched Frozen this weekend, and LOVED IT. Such an adorable movie, with a great theme 🙂
I ate an amazing roasted beet and goat cheese salad on Saturday night. With a little Pinot Noir on the side… so perfect!
shannon – beets + goat cheese are one of my fave combos ever! i have seen the frozen soundtrack all over iTunes, i’ll have to check out the movie!
Jen, where is your favorite sushi joint in Charlotte? That looks amazing! I’m always blown away by your salads as well. Do you assemble those at home for the most part or is there a super secret amazing salad bar that I don’t know about? 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
hey rebecca – fave sushi is sushi guru. it’s in southpark in the same shopping area as rooster’s.
salads are either made at home or at reid’s on selwyn. the ones in white boxes are from reid’s.
Thank you so much for the response! I live and work in Southpark, so that’s perfect for me. Have a great week!
you’re welcome! let me know what you think when you try it!
Best thing I ate were definitely YOUR cookies…OMG you’re an amazing baker! I honestly have no desire to see that movie, because the plot line alone is disturbing. Haven’t watched a movie in a while. I wish I could have slept in…4:15 AM wake up call. Tomorrow I’m going to sleep in a bit, cause it’s supposed to snow/ice/rain here.
What an awesome weekend!!! LOVE all the lulu steals!
Best thing I ate this weekend … raw oysters. Swoon. It’s been so long since I’ve had them. I love them!!
My husband came home with that same fleece sweatshirt for me! It’s amazing! I agree with not being able to take it off, it’s way too warm and comfy to even think about taking it off.
That salad looks amazing! Definitely good salad inspiration.
Best thing I ate: steak with roasted brussels sprouts and red potatoes. So simple but SO good. I learned how to cook the steak using stovetop + broiler since it was way too cold to grill.
Love your site – shared it with my FOREVER DIET gang this past weekend. Already have gotten some feed back about how much they love it.
We saw Lone Survivor! So good and very moving! It makes me appreciate our service men and women so much more. See it!!
Oh my goodness, that sushi looks amazing! Love the lulu purchases! I watched Smurfs 2 this weekend with my kiddos. I think I said “this is so weird” a few times too 😉 I’ve heard of the movie that you mentioned. I’ve never heard anyone actually say that it was a good movie? Do you think it’s worth the money to see in the theater?
I have seen previews for Her, and your description confirmed that I’m not that interested in watching it. I did watch Blackfish (again) this weekend, which is also really sad but shares an important message. Best thing I ate? Probably avocado sushi and vegan macaroni and cheese from Whole Foods on Friday night. 🙂
ahh i wish they had that fleece in my size/color preference.–but probably better that they dont, i need to SAVE my money.
my sweet tooth is out of control right now so that cookie is yelling my name!
I went to see Lone Survivor this weekend — awesome movie and I highly recommend it!
You pull off the coloured wunder unders so well!
That sounds like a pretty crazy story line! Glad you had a great weekend – LOVE the yoga clothes!
I love lulu’s new blue!
Sounds like the perfect weekend!
Thanks for recommending Enlighten Up, too! I’m had it sitting in my Netflix queue forever, and you’ve inspired me to finally get around to watching it.
let me know what you think when you watch it!
I am so jealous of your blue wonder unders! I really want them but they are sold out everywhere!!!
a salad question….when you put kale in your salads is it raw ? im assuming so but doesnt kale have a bad taste raw ? or i just have to get used to it. i’ve heard people refer to baby kale but have never seen that in my grocery stores.
yes! it’s raw and torn into small pieces. i usually do a blend with another green like mixed greens, arugula or spinach. kale definitely has a bite to it…some like it, some not so much! and yes, baby kale is much more tender and mild.
Love love love your lulu finds! 🙂
