Morning and happy new week! I got everything ready to write this post on Sunday night but found myself falling asleep as I was putting Finn down to bed. I decided a very early bedtime was in order and that I’d get up early and write this post on Monday morning – so here we are. I just poured a cup of coffee and I’m feeling rested and ready to write this post before I jump into the week!
It’s going to be a busy one – but a great one! I’ve got a full schedule of training clients, yoga classes and online work along with life stuff like getting the dogs to the groomer, a dental appointment and friend hangs.
My week will end with a trip to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to visit the yogis at Studio B Power Yoga. I’ve made quite a few trips up there over the years but this is my first visit since covid. I have a full weekend schedule of teaching – and I cannot wait! If any of you live in the area, I’d love to see you for some yoga! 🙂
The Friday evening slow flow + Yoga Nidra is sold out, as are the Saturday and Sunday morning flow classes, but there are a few spots left in the workshops.
Before I go all in on this new week – let’s backtrack to the weekend. We really enjoyed having my mom here and I have a few photos and stories to share!
FRIDAY
Finn doesn’t have school on Fridays so my mom hung out with him while I went to the gym to train a few clients. I was able to squeeze in a run before heading home. They did great together and I’m pretty sure Finn showed her almost every toy he owns, haha.
I had a fun evening planned for my mom and I – dinner and a show! I made an early reservation at Dolce Osteria. It’s one of my favorite spots in Charlotte for Italian and I knew my mom would love it too.
I had the veal marsala and she had a lobster ravioli special. We shared tiramisu for dessert. It was a delicious dinner – as always!
I was invited to a media preview night for Opera Carolina’s production of Porgy and Bess. I asked my mom a few weeks ago if she’d be interested in going and she enthusiastically replied “yes!” It ended up being an ideal situation because it was a full dress rehearsal so the theater was basically empty.
We very much enjoyed the show! Opera Carolina will be offering Porgy and Bess a few times this week – Tuesday at 7p, Thursday at 7:30p and Saturday at 8p. You can receive a 20% discount on your opera tickets by using code PORGYBTS. The show is about three hours long and the music is wonderful.
This was my mom’s first “big night out” since she got really sick a few years ago so it was a special one for both of us! A great celebration after receiving good news at Duke last week. <3
SATURDAY
Saturday was a chill day. We all slept in and then I went to the gym to train a client and workout (I had to reschedule everyone from earlier in the week when I was in Durham). We took an afternoon outing to Sleepy Poet Antique Mall. I knew my mom would love wandering around – and Finn did too!
There were tons of interesting things to look at and of course he enjoyed the vintage toys. I told him he could pick out one thing to bring home from our excursion. I laughed when he picked the duck push toy that you see in this photo. It is so cute.
The highlight of the remainder of my Saturday was watching Top Gun Maverick. I don’t think I ever saw the first Top Gun but I was on the edge my seat during this one. I liked the movie!
SUNDAY
We got my mom off to the airport around 10a. I’m grateful that we got a whole week together but it’s always hard to say goodbye.
It was raining and 45 degrees all day in Charlotte on Sunday so we took an afternoon outing to Discovery Place Science to take advantage of our annual membership.
We spent about 2.5 hours at the museum and it was a great rainy day activity!
Back at home, I spent a few hours cleaning and doing laundry and food prep before my early bedtime.
IMPORTANT PSA
Lastly, an important PSA – it’s Girl Scout Cookie season! I placed my order last night through a Girl Scout in my neighborhood. I found her through our neighborhood parent group on Facebook. I was very active in Girl Scouts growing up and in my teens as a camp counselor. I even volunteered as a troop helper in college. Cookie season is always a sentimental time of year for me. 🙂
Alrighty friends. That does it for me! I hope you have the best week and I’ll check in with you along the way.

The S’mores Girls Scouts cookies are the best ever! Especially when the have been refrigerated. I’m so glad your mom is doing well and that you spent quality time with her when she was there for her appointments.
