This is what happens with these weekend recap posts…I edit all the photos at once and then start blogging. I usually get through Friday and part of Saturday and then decide that’s enough for one post. So here I am with the second half of my weekend.
I threw a costume together at the last minute for a really cool party that I was invited to. One of my friends is an artist and is sharing studio space with five other artists/photographers/etc at Flaming Chicken Studio.
The event was half costume party and half gallery show. Many of the artists had their work on display. Most of them shoot with film and use old/antique cameras. It was interesting to walk around and see it all and also cool that many of them were shooting during the party…there were like mini photo-shoots going on all over the place.
They went all out with a smoke machine, belly dancers and ariel silk performances. It was probably the most unique Halloween party that I’ve ever attended. I can’t say that my last-minute princess getup was winning any creativity points with this crowd! 🙂
I had to turn into a pumpkin a little after 11 at the party because I teach hot class on Sunday mornings. I came home after class and made brunch. Omelet made with farm fresh eggs, arugula, avocado, sundried tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms and feta, pear slices and turkey bacon. I also had a slice of apple cake for dessert.
I spent ALL afternoon cleaning and then went on a little three mile run. I had a small gathering to attend Sunday evening so I took my apple cake (in the right corner) and whipped up some beet dip using the plethora of roasted beets in my fridge. Beet dip…ehhhhh.
Dinner when I got home was pad thai with lots of tofu. Mixed veggies on the side.
And the most exciting news! Remember when I was an extra on Homeland? Well, the episode aired last night and I actually made it on screen for a few fleeting seconds. I was in the yoga class and also on the street after class. Fun! 🙂
Did you/are you going to dress up for Halloween this year?
Such a celebrity!
such an adorable costume! that dress is stunning on you!
Congrats on making it to the other big screen! This screen being your first! 🙂
Your omlet is making me hungry … it looks totally delish! And way cute last minuye outfit!
Your costume is similar to the two I wore this weekend. I’m not sure why, I just didn’t feel like going costume shopping! Friday night I wore a black dress and tiger print sunglasses (luckily I’m a big LSU fan so they were lying around) and was a tiger. Saturday, I had minnie ears and gloves from last year, so I found a black dress with polka dots in my closet and rocked that. I felt very uncreative haha, but it worked!
No dressing up this year and I have no desire too, but that’s okay. I cannot remember the last time that I dressed up…Oh geez I think it was when I lived in Denver and that’s almost 4 years ago. DOH!
I have always been the worst about Halloween costumes!! This post reminded me of Freshman year when you, me and Hollie decided it would be cool to dress as cats. We literally put on black dresses/outfits and cat ears! I’m sure I have a picture somewhere 🙂 Awesome about the Homeland appearance too!! I just started watching it and love it (trying to get all caught up right now).
I probably won’t be dressing up this year, but for the last few years I’ve been Hermione from Harry Potter.
What an awesome Halloween party!! and Pad Thai is my favorite. Especially on rainy days like today. I may go out and grab some. 🙂
Holy moly you look amazing! Those arms!!!! Glad you had a fun weekend!
Such a cute costume! Good for you for being able to throw it together so quickly 🙂
I saw you last night on the Homeland episode! Random: Where is the tank from that you wore in the epsiode? Also, is that a local yoga studio in Charlotte that it was filmed in?
I remember your blog about when they filmed Homeland. I thought that was you in the street shot. Good to know it was!
Yes! I saw you on Homeland last night!!! I was watching with husband and sister and yelled..”its peanut butter runner!!” haha. Academy award winning actress if i do say so!
Does “ehhhh” mean the beet dip didn’t come out right? Haha…I think it looks good. 🙂
watching you on homeland tonight 🙂
Wow!! That is AWESOME! How cool!! I don’t think I will be dressing up for halloween this year 🙁 It is sad but we have been traveling so much and hit the road again next weekend so I am pretty tired and we have no plans! 🙂
What a fun weekend!! Unfortunately, I am not doing anything “halloween-like” this year besides attending a Halloween themed Bodypump class 🙂 FUN for me! All that I can say is your arms look amazing!! Keep it up, Jen 🙂
I love homeland! I will look for you. Sounds like you had a really busy weekend!
Too cool about homeland! I just started watching it, so I’ll have to look for you when I get to that episode!
I saw you last night on Homeland! SO COOL!!!
