It seems like every blog post has been heavy on the moving talk but it’s taken over my life these last few weeks. For whatever reason I didn’t expect it to be this big of a deal but it’s been a steady stream of both work and emotions.
My weekend was a mix of moving and social stuff so here’s a look…
On Friday I bid a tearful farewell to my empty house. It was move-in day for my renters. I spent most of the day rushing around finishing up last minute errands to get it ready while also teaching three yoga classes and training a client.
By the time Friday evening rolled around, I needed some fresh air and a break. I took Zoey out for her first 5K and she totally rocked it.

And then I got dressed up and picked up a friend for The Track & Field Store’s grand opening party. I am SO EXCITED to partner with them as an ambassador this fall. Much more to come about this amazing brand and their beautiful, stylish and functional activewear. We are so lucky to have them in Charlotte!
I will be teaching a FREE yoga class at SouthPark Mall on Saturday, October 17 at 3 p.m. as part of the grand opening celebration. Check out the invite here and join me if you’re in the area!
After the party we went to Rooster’s where we sat at the bar and shared appetizers and life updates. It was just what I needed to get grounded after all of the moving stuff. And the food at Rooster’s never disappoints! We had beet homefries, Korean-style short ribs and sauteed spinach.
On Saturday morning I hoped to knock out my long run but rain forced me to stay inside and go to yoga instead. I made this acai bowl when I woke up and then took a 75 minute hot class before teaching my 11:15. Classes were packed thanks to the rain and the chill. It was a fun morning.
After class my fiance and I went to Whole Foods to grab lunch and some groceries. I deemed myself officially over the hot and salad bar. I wandered around for 15 minutes before ending up with this random box of spinach, quinoa, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, tofu, mushrooms, almonds, parmesan and dried cranberries. While I love shopping at Whole Foods, eating there just doesn’t excite me anymore the way their produce, cheese, seafood counter and nut butter selection does.
After shopping and a quick trip to Home Goods, I picked up this sweet girl to bring her to the new house for the first time. Happy to report she is adjusting with no problems other than the doggie door. The new house has a doggie door which is both fun and convenient. Sullie totally understands how it works and knows how to go in and out but she’s so well behaved and polite after 9.5 years of having to wait to be let in that she patiently sits at the back door instead of using the doggie door to come back in. It’s super cute.
On Saturday night I got dressed up again (I never take photos when this phenomenon actually happens…haha) for a birthday celebration at Tiki Hideaway. It was my first time at this spot and it was definitely different (and pricey!). They describe it as “tapas with a Polynesian twist and craft cocktails served amid tiki-themed decor with a vintage vibe.” I ordered these plantain chips to share with the table along with some pork lettuce wraps.
Knowing I had my long run the next day we were home and on the couch by 10:30 p.m. where I got sucked into a Disney movie that kept me up until 12:30 a.m. and deserves a post of its own.
Post long run brunch of omelet with spinach, asparagus, avocado and shitake mushrooms with grapes and sourdough toast with butter and fig preserves.
Much needed protein bar after teaching Total Strength at the Y. I taught another class at the studio at 4 p.m. and then we had a teacher meeting until 8 p.m. so I needed some fuel to get me through.
I mentioned to my fiance that I really wanted some ice cream after my long and physically active Sunday and he ran to the store while I was cooking dinner and came home with this.
And delivered me a scoop of each ice cream flavor and a piece of chocolate on the couch while I was writing last night’s Weekly Workout post. Keeper. 😉
We started watching the series How To Get Away with Murder last night. Anyone else watch it? We thought it was worth a shot since it’s produced by the same woman who does Grey’s and Scandal.
That’s a wrap! Off to our weekly management team meeting at the studio and then to teach. Enjoy the rest of your Monday!
Who enjoyed a weekend dessert?! What did you have?
Sullie is so much like our golden, Izzy! They are so polite – she never comes crashing through or pushes in. She’s so gentle that she hates to push on a door, it’s almost like she’s scared of it. Gosh, I just love seeing photos and reading about your pups…they’re too cute!
They have such fun personalities! 🙂 Thank you for reading!
Doggy habits are harder to break than human ones!
HTGAWM is such a great show. Viola Davis is one of my favorite actresses.
So true! Especially at her age.
I just started watching How to Get Away With Murder too! I don’t love it as much as Grey’s Anatomy but it sucked me in thats for sure!
Congrats on the move and way to go on the double digits! I’m climbing lots of stairs to get ready to climb Willis (Sears) Tower in a month! Love training with a goal! Something tells me your “casual” training for the half will pay off well with your results!
Thanks for sharing about the flow class at the new store on Saturday. Planning going!
WOW! I can’t believe you’re doing that. So cool! Haha, I don’t think my casual training will give me quite the finish I had last year but I am TOTALLY okay with that! 🙂 You will LOVE the clothes at T&F!
Everything seems to be going very well for you! Congratulations on the new move and I love your photos!
Thanks!
What a guy!
I ran the Lake Tahoe Marathon this weekend and absolutely enjoyed dessert every night. There happened to be a Nestle Tollhouse Cafe near the hotel we stayed at so I loaded up with cookies and peanut butter cups 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS! What a beautiful marathon to run! How’d it go? And OMG…that sounds to die for!
Moving is so draining. I feel like it’s always so much more work than you anticipate. I had a wood fired apple cobbler that was to die for on Sunday night!
Uh…wood fired apple cobbler!? SIGN ME UP!
I totally had a Halloween decorated sugar cookie from Wegman’s this weekend. I had to work all day Saturday so it was the perfect treat 🙂
Love sugar cookies! I have never been to a Wegman’s but I’ve heard so much about it!
LOVE HTGAWM! One of my favorites. It has me on the edge of the couch each week and you really have to pay attention or you miss the little details!
Also, I wanted to thank you! After trying product after product, my face was in turmoil. I scheduled an appointment at Carolina Facial Plastics. I felt weird because I felt if I was going to a plastic surgeon’s office, they would assume I want botox or surgery…I was simply wanting skincare. They welcomed me with open arms, gave me a facial straightaway and sent me home with a new routine. They were not the least bit pushy, extremely upfront with pricing (comparable to products I was previously purchasing) and so nice! After 3 days, my skin is clear and amazing. I may start going out with gloss and mascara! I haven’t done that in years! Thank you!!!
Hi Erica,
I’m so happy to hear this! I’m glad you had a good experience. I haven’t been over there in a while because summer was busy but I have an appointment for next week and can’t wait to get a little boost for my fall skincare! 🙂 It makes the biggest difference to use the right (and high quality) products for your specific skin! Everyone is so different!
What a sweet dog!
I love the show How to Get Away with Murder! Hope you enjoyed it!
Every time you post a picture of Sullie I wish I could jump through the screen and give her hugs and belly rubs. She is just so cute and sweet-looking!
Jen, do you have a recipe for how to make the acai bowls? They haven’t caught on up here…
I am planning on posting a recipe in the next week or so!
