Hi. It’s been a really great Monday. I would skip the weekend recap post and go straight into the new week (because it’s bringing many changes) but the weekend was so good I have to share that quickly and then we’ll move on! 🙂
The weekend post is brought to you thanks to pizza, M&Ms and Ray LaMontagne.
I stayed in on Halloween night because I was tired from the week and had a really full day on Saturday. I stopped at the grocery on the way home to pick up all the ingredients for my favorite fig and prosciutto flatbread.
I bought this big bag of M&Ms with 50 pieces of Peanut, Plain and Peanut Butter M&Ms. And I had ONE trick or treater. So at this point I have lost track of how many bags of M&Ms I have eaten. The bowl is rapidly decreasing in size. 😉
Saturday flew by in a flurry of teaching yoga, taking yoga and yoga meetings. I had really fun plans that night for pizza and Ray LaMontagne.
Before the concert we went to Mellow Mushroom. I can never resist starting with their Lil’ Greek Salad.
And the pizza of choice was red sauce, mushrooms, Italian sausage, artichokes, olives and feta.
I have loved Ray LaMontagne’s music for many years and was thrilled to finally see him in concert. He played at Ovens Auditorium here in Charlotte and I put on my red lipstick for the occasion. (I’ve been loving it lately!) It was a nice low-key night. I enjoyed having seats and actually sitting for most of the concert. (Guess I’m getting old.)
Ray sounded live exactly how he does on albums, which I always respect. He just has an amazing voice. Personality…a little lacking…but music was on point.
I had a girl’s brunch on Sunday after I taught my yoga church class. It was freezing here this weekend so I wore a long sleeved sweater dress and tights for the first time this season! Tom’s wedges and my favorite Tilo scarf to finish off the outfit. Sullie was like, “Mom…enough selfies. Seriously…”
I can never resist the breakfast pita at Nolen Kitchen. I intended to get a salad but got sucked in by the pita yet again. It’s a mix of scrambled eggs, oven roasted tomatoes, spinach and feta in a soft, warm tortilla.
I wrapped up Sunday with lots of computer work, my long run and cooking dinner. It was a great weekend.
Red lipstick…yes or no!?
ahhh I’m so jealous you saw Ray Lamontagne!! You go to so many great concerts! Take me! And I’m ALL about red lipstick. Looks great on you!
JUST NOTICED THE NEW LOOK TOO! looks fab Jen!
Yes to red lipstick – I got talked into buying it earlier this year and it really feels fun and fancy! I don’t usually buy pricey mall make up but have Mac’s “Dubonnet”!
Sometimes you just need a red lip. Ilia Wild Child & Nars velvet matte lip pencil reds are stunners.
What a fun weekend! I live in an apartment in Seattle so no trick or treaters here, either. I kind of miss having them come around!
PS. Great work on the new site 🙂
Red lipstick looks great on you. My hair is strawberry-blonde, and I just can’t pull it off. Love the new blog look/feel!
Love your blog. Look forward to it everyday as I power down at night. You are such an inspiration.
Love the red lipstick. I like e a good lip stain! Your outfit on Sunday was super cute – still can’t believe it’s cold enough here for tights. I love the new look around here. Great job!!
I usually go heavier on the eye and lighter on the lip but I do love a good red lipstick when I do a lighter eye with lots of mascara! Doesn’t happen often but it’s a great look!
The red lipstick on you looks great!
Mellow Mushroom is always my poison.
I love red lipstick on most everyone! I’ve hardest time finding the right shade for my skin tone though. It’s been fun experimenting and inadvertently collecting reddish lipsticks!
I’ve been on the mad hunt for a good red lipstick too. So far, I feel I’ve struck gold with Beso from Stila – it’s a liquid matte that is super pigmented and stays on for hours. Not the cheapest, but it’s my holy grail.
I love Ray LaMontagne!! We saw him years ago in Vegas and he puts on a great show. His music is much more thoughtful than most of what is on the airwaves. And–I too, LOVE to sit during a concert. Red lipstick–definitely a yes for fall!
Love the new layout Jen! Looks like a great weekend and the red lipstick definitely suits you. 🙂
LOVE the red lipstick! It looks great! 🙂 I’m a little bit jealous over that pizza…there aren’t any Mellow Mushrooms up north and it’s one of the places I miss most from Orlando. The mega-veggie is my favorite pizza of all time!
I am a HUGE Ray fan! Hopefully one day I will see him play live as well. I am sure he has quite a lovely on-stage presence.
You look fabulous with red lips, I am not sure I could pull it off 🙂
The new blog layout looks great!!
The red lipstick is perfect on you! Love it!
I love, love, love Ray Lamontagne! What a treat that you were able to see him!
And red lipstick all the way! My favourite right now is Beso by Stila. It’s a beautiful, bright red and stays on my lips for hours!
That red color is so glamorous! You can definitely rock the red lip.
On a side note, I’m not a huge fan of the new layout. (I hate to be THAT person; especially since you’ve worked so hard on it). But I found the old one easier to navigate… I guess I’m in the minority!
I love love love the new blog layout 🙂 Congratulations!!
I love Ray! I heard he has debilitating stage fright and he has a hard time performing live as opposed to recording. But I’ve never been able to see him live and confirm.
red lipstick: definitely yes.
RED LIPSTICK = DEFINITELY!!
