Happy new week! I’ve been up since 4:30 a.m. I didn’t sleep well last night…I was hot and sweaty all night and had to make multiple bathroom trips. After the 4:30 a.m. wake-up, there was no going back to sleep. My mind was racing. (There’s kind of a lot on my mind these days…)
The plus side of this is that I have my weekend recap done nice and early for you guys!
FRIDAY
Friday brought another early wakeup. I think I was up at 5 on Friday and couldn’t go back to sleep. I had a big bowl of banana cottage cheese oatmeal for breakfast. Zoey approved.
I worked the morning away and then had a photo shoot with Scott Broome to capture some prenatal yoga images for upcoming posts. Thought I should get those done while I still have this belly! ๐
Lunch back at home was baby kale massaged with some olive oil, sea salt, lemon juice and a squeeze of honey and topped with strawberries, avocado, canned wild Alaskan salmon, pistachios and dried cranberries.
I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I was tired on Friday so I decided to do something I rarely do…nap! I’m not the best napper but on Friday I closed my eyes and was out for a solid hour. Zoey was a very cute wake-up helper.
The rest of my Friday afternoon/early evening looked like teaching yoga, walking the girls, reading in the bathtub and a charcoal face mask. It was pretty nice! Pardon the “frozen face” but you literally cannot move your face at all once the charcoal starts to dry!
Dinner was a panini with ham, salami, havarti, gouda and pesto on sourdough.
SATURDAY
Smoothie to start the day.
Followed by a trip to the Matthews Community Farmers Market. It was a quiet morning at the market and the vendors didn’t have a ton of produce but I did stock up on meats for the freezer.
Best story of the morning…I was walking by the Grateful Growers booth (they’re very well-known pork farmers in the area) and the woman who was working asked if I was pregnant. I said, “yes…due in about 3 weeks” and she asked if I ate pork. I replied, “yes, I eat everything.” And she offered me a free pound of breakfast sausage. She said it’s the, “pregnant lady sausage program” and they’ve been doing it for 12 years. What a nice gesture that made me smile!
Post-market and post-teaching hot yoga salad with kale, apples, pecans, apples, tomatoes, dried cranberries, avocado and feta.
Nail date with BFF Dorie followed by a trip to the mall. I never go to the mall but I’ve been in desperate need for some sandals. I ordered these Memphisito sandals and LOVED them but they just didn’t fit right. It broke my heart to send them back. I ended up with these rose gold sandals from Amazon at the recommendation of a friend and then got these Toms and these silver slides at Nordstrom. I think I’m set on sandals now! Gold, silver and multi-colored! ๐
It was a gorgeous day so I sat on the back patio when I got home and read The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding for an hour. It’s such a good book!
The evening concluded with a dog walk and pizza on the couch. I always love Hawthorne’s but they did something special to the pizza on Saturday night. It was the best it’s ever been!
SUNDAY
Smoothies to start Sunday morning (details on the pink blend on Instagram) followed by blog post writing and more dog walking. Trying to walk this baby on down into the right position! ๐
Ham and avocado sandwich post-walk. The big activity of Sunday was our baby shower at the studio with our staff and students. With over 100 people RSVPd, I knew I should eat before the event because talking would make it hard to eat during. I’m glad I did!
The shower was wonderful and I’ll share more details tomorrow in my 37 week update!
Back at home we had a lot of gifts to open. (The shower was a drop-in so we didn’t open gifts during it…it would have been too much!)
It was about 9 p.m. by the time we opened, recorded, organized and put everything away. I had a slice of leftover pizza and a salad along with half a slice of coconut cake from Laurel Market while watching the movie Ant Man.
And then it was bed and a book! ๐ I just started The Last Mrs. Parrish. Has anyone read it?
What was the highlight of your weekend?ย
Favorite pizza toppings? Do you like a white base or a red base?ย (I loved our half and half combo! Best of both worlds!)
When was the last time you were on the receiving end of a random act of kindness?ย
Sounds like such a fun weekend– can’t believe you are about 3 weeks out from meeting baby boy! You looked gorgeous at your shower ๐
I know, it’s truly unbelievable. Thank you so much for the kind words.
That pizza looks amazing! What’s the combo? We love Hawthorne’s! Are you planning to grab an inducer in a few weeks? : )
Thanks. It was delish! It’s 1/2 Hawthorne’s Special White and 1/2 build your own New Yorker with sausage, mushrooms and olives.
Where is your purse from that you have in the pic of you at the farmers market? It looks like something I have been looking for!!
Thanksโค๏ธ
It’s a Kate Spade cross-body. It’s about a year old at this point though!
Jen, thatโs such a beautiful dress you wore to the baby shower! So excited for you as things get closer to the due date ๐
Quick question – what type of frozen fruit do you buy for your smoothies? I often find that frozen fruit doesnโt have a whole lot of flavor but maybe Iโm just not buying the right kind. Thanks!!
Thank you so much Caitlin.
I usually buy organic from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods and the following: cherries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries. I also freeze my own bananas when they get ripe.
That’s the next book on my list! LMK if you like and you look adorable by the way!
I will report back! And thank you!
The Last Mrs Parrish… VERY good! Very entertaining. I think you’ll like it.
So great to hear! ๐
Mmm, I haven’t had oatmeal in forever. Your bowl looks delicious!
I was off oatmeal for YEARS but have eaten it a little more during pregnancy.
That book is sooooo good! Super entertaining! Best easy-read Iโve read this year.
Woo! So glad to hear this!
love!! you’re getting so close! you look stunning!
Thank you so very much!
This is so very lovely!! Can’t wait to read more about the shower! I love a white pizza base and my all-time favorite is Papa Murphy’s Chicken Garlic – YUM!
I haven’t had the opportunity to try Papa Murphy’s but I’ve heard such great things!
You look spectacular! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed following your journey! I’m curious about your sandal choice…our chiropractor told us that those minimal sandals are terrible for our alignments. This news caused some heartache for our 15-year old. Does your chiropractor think differently about those types of sandals?
You are the cutest pregnant mama ever, and SO close to the end!! My fave pizza is an asian chicken pizza that is to freaking die for. The sauce is a sweet/spicy sesame sauce, grilled chicken and peppers on top and a sesame crust. SO good!
Um…your salads look SO good. Salad envy over here. Love these updates. You’re doing great, momma!
I read The Last Mrs. Parrish in Hawaii and couldn’t put it down. I’m so excited for you and your coming baby and I can tell you will be the best mama. It will be the highlight of your life.
