I hope you all had a beautiful weekend. My weekend included two special events that were a lot of fun.
We stayed in on Friday night. I went for an evening run and then had a long overdue manicure. It had been months. I used to not really care about having my nails done but now that I spend my days training and teaching yoga and have people seeing my hands and feet all the time I try to be a little more diligent about it.
When I got home at 7:45 p.m. I had no interest in getting dressed to go out so I made a leftovers feast with all the food left in our fridge. I’m happy to report that we had ZERO food waste last week!
After dinner we rented McFarland USA on Netflix. It was a feel good movie and easy to watch…which is good for Friday nights.
On Saturday morning I got up and instead of hitting the farmers market or teaching yoga, I got ready for the Food Lion Frugal Cook-Off at the Southern Women’s Show.
I got invited to join a few other local bloggers to battle it out in the kitchen. More details (and a sweet giveaway) coming soon but I’ll give you a spoiler that my team won! ๐
I headed to the studio after the cooking competition for lunch. I love the food in our cafe that much! This was the superflow wrap with hummus, avocado, cucumbers and chicken and a side salad. How gorgeous are those watermelon radishes?
On Saturday night I got all dressed up for an amazing art show at the studio. We partnered with Sozo Gallery to host Arthur Brouthers for a show themed around mantras. The cool thing about Arthur is that he is a yogi and part of his painting process is to meditate every day before he works. I enjoyed getting to know him through this event.
We got home around 11 to find a sick Zoey. It was terrible. I won’t go into details but a trip to the emergency vet was on the table. We decided to wait it out and she seems okay but we’ll most likely take her in Monday morning to be seen by her normal vet to make sure all is good.
I woke up starving on Sunday morning. While I love cooking Sunday brunch, our fridge was pretty bare. We went to Flying Biscuit and I had the Hollywood Omelet with egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, white cheddar and a tomato coulis along with grits and a biscuit. They make the best grits (and biscuits!) at Flying Biscuit.
The rest of my Sunday was taking yoga, walking Zoey, grocery shopping (haul post soon), cooking dinner and relaxing. It was good! ๐
Last movie you watched?
Sunday brunch in or out and what was it?
Sick pets are the worst! I hope your sweet girl is feeling better!
Thank you! She seems to be doing better!
I hope Zoey is ok. I’m sure she will be!
Thank you! I think she’s feeling better!
Congrats on the cooking competition!! I had brunch out yesterday after yoga, at a new diner in the Logan Square neighborhood. I actually ordered the kale salad but I wish I would have paired it with nutella toast ๐
Thanks!! Haha!
I hate when my dog is sick. So sad. What a fun and full weekend! Congrats again on the cooking competition!!! Last movie(s) I watched…Mission Impossible 5 in theaters and The Proposal at home.
Thanks!! The Proposal is one of my favorites!
Last movie = Awakenings. I hadn’t seen it and with the news of Oliver Sacks death my husband insisted. I highly recommend it. As for Sunday Brunch – we stayed in and I made eggs and toast. Not overly exciting. But my meal prep game was on point on Sunday.
Sounds good to me!
So sorry Zoey wasn’t feeling well. I had a sick little dog as well Saturday night when we got home. At midnight I did have to go to emergency. He’s better now, but I’m so glad I didn’t run into you there! I will say, Dr. Smith at CVS and his intern, Dr. Mitsou, were amazing. I hope Zoey is better today!
Oh no!! Glad he’s doing better.
I watched the second Divergent movie. It was ok– I liked McFarland better!
Congrats on winnnniiiinnnggg!
Thanks!!
Poor Zoey ๐ I hope she is feeling better today. I saw McFarland USA in theaters and really enjoyed it. This weekend I saw No Escape and it was awful so I don’t recommend that one!
I’m so sorry your little pup isn’t feeling well. I hope the vet gives you great news!! AND I can’t wait to hear about your cooking competition. It sounds so fun!
Thanks! She’s feeling better!
Poor Zooey. ๐ what was the matter do you think? Poor baby. I hope she is all better now.
We think she got into something or ate something bad. Her stomach seems to be settling down finally.
Poor Zoey. Hope she is on the mend. We have an old boy here who is under the weather & not himself. Much more clingy than usual & just off. Hate when theyre sick as they can point & say “it hurts here”
So sorry! Hope he gets better soon.
