Hi and I am praying hard for all of my Florida readers and everyone in the path of Hurricane Irma, especially those in the Caribbean Islands.
It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend in Charlotte, which was so eerie knowing about the impending arrival of Irma in Florida and all the rain and wind that we will experience in the next few days as Irma moves up into the south. Y’all stay safe. <3
Here are a few photos from the weekend…
5 on Friday. Ridiculously gorgeous weather for it.
I arrived home at 8:30 p.m. on Friday after teaching a hot yoga class followed by a two-hour backhanding workshop. Tanner sent me upstairs where I found my pajamas and slippers laid out on the bed. (FYI! I did order Ugg Ansley Slippers last week and they didn’t fit. My heel slipped out of the right slipper – this happens to me a lot with slip on shoes. I think I might try one that slips on instead.)
He also had dinner delivered from Thai Orchid via Postmates. I loved that he did the ordering because he got some differing things. We had a delicious crispy roasted duck that came with onions, carrots, mushrooms, baby corn and cashews in a roasted chili sauce. Also steamed dumplings and chicken satay.
I finished it all off with dark chocolate filled with almond butter and chamomile tea. I had to gear up for a BUSY Saturday!

My day kicked off teaching Y2 Strength at 8:15 a.m. and then I showered and headed over to Sugar Creek Brewing to teach a donation class for Hurricane Harvey Relief. Katie Loveluck organized the event and I was honored to lead the class!

We raised over $2,300! It was a great morning and so wonderful to see the community come together in support of others.
I ran home to eat lunch before going back to the studio to teach a two-hour arm balancing workshop. It was a lot of fun!
Tanner and I went over to his brother and sister in law’s for dinner where we enjoyed another delicious Thai Orchid dinner. Totally unplanned as his brother did the dinner ordering but I will never complain about Thai food two nights in a row! It was delicious! We had spring rolls, two types of curry and pad see ew.
Sullie and I were up early on Sunday morning to go pick up my mom from the airport. She is here visiting for the week!
I had to go back to the studio after picking her up to teach one more workshop as part of my three-part weekend series. Today was all about inversions and we worked on tons of drills and prep for headstands, forearm balance and handstands.
I was home shortly before 1 p.m. I ate lunch and baked a maple apple spice bundt cake. After the cake came out of the oven my mom and I took the girls for a long walk.
Our day concluded at the Greek Festival. We checked out the church (beautiful) and some of the shops before having dinner.
We both had the fish and it was served with a Greek salad, a stuffed grape leaf, savory phyllo pastries and a roll. We both got Greek pastries to share. So good.
And that’s all I have for you. Heading off to bed to read Truly, Madly, Guilty. I’m about halfway done with it and wondering WHEN I’m finally going to figure out what happened at that barbecue!
Florida readers, how are you dealing with Hurricane Irma? Let us know how you’re doing.
Do you enjoy Greek food? If so, what’s your favorite dish or specialty?
What’s your favorite thing to order for takeout?
Looks like a great weekend!
My Dad still lives in Orlando and he’s fine– just no power!
That maple apple spice bundt cake sounds fantastic! I was slow to get into fall flavors and am starting to go all in now because the early mornings and evenings have been crisp and cool in southern Connecticut.
I love thai food but my husband is sadly not a big fan. We normally order a pizza, sushi, Asian, or Mediterranean for takeout.
The apple cake is one of my favorite fall things to bake! I hear you on being slow into fall. For me, it’s so weather dependent. Last week it was cool and felt fall-y. This week it’s 89 degrees again so I’m like, “give me all the summer food.” Haha.
And now I’m craving Thai food. 🙂 So excited the weather is cooling off so that actually sounds appealing again!
That’s awesome you and Katie did that yoga fundraiser together. I wish I could have been there! xoxo
I was so grateful that she organized the fundraiser and asked me to be involved! So important to do things in the community in the spirit of service to others. <3
Truly Madly Guilty was really good!!! The reveal of what happened is layered and a bit surprising. Big Little Lies remains my favorite of her books.
Ahhh, I just finished Truly Madly Guilty yesterday and I didn’t love it! 🙁 I found it a bit TOO layered and detailed. I like her other books much better.
That cake! Thai food! Greek food! I am jealous of your weekend. 🙂
(Love Thai – love Greek – relatives in Miami are okay…)
It was definitely a weekend of good eating…that is for sure!
One of the best things about Greek festivals is the food! Of course, it’s all about balance and looks like you also got plenty of exercise 🙂
