Hello, hello, hello! How was the weekend? Mine was mostly work focused but in a positive way. I have a lot of things going right now between my return to personal training, upcoming app launch, upcoming teacher trainings and some online projects. All good things but a lot to juggle from a time management perspective.
I’m in a place where this season of life feels very focused on personal and career growth. My attention is on Finn, furthering my fitness and yoga education and pursing work opportunities that light me up.
More on all of that to come but here’s a weekend overview.
FRIDAY
My Friday kicked off with five personal training clients in a row. Tuesdays and Fridays have become my busiest training days as I have a few clients who want to meet twice a week and that seems to be our rhythm. Friday’s sessions were fun and full of laughs, great conversation and hard work. I left the gym feeling happy and filled up!
Back at home, I ate lunch and spent some time writing running programs for my app before getting ready for a run, yoga and a night out.
I love taking the Friday 4:30p at Charlotte Yoga on the weekends that I don’t have Finn with me. It’s even better if I can squeeze in a quick run before. I had time for just under 3 miles and pushed the pace.
Virginia met me for class and it was so, so good. Total sweat fest. I could have wrung sweat out of my clothes. I am wearing the Align tank and shorts.
Quite the transformation from sweaty yogi to out for the night. 🙂 I’m wearing my favorite $20 Target ribbed dress, FitFlop wedges and a Shiraleah cross body purse.
I met Dorie and some other friends for a gallery crawl at Dilworth Artisan Station. We spent the evening in our friend Melissa’s store, The Used Muse. She has created the most magical space filled with vintage items like home fashions, clothing, art and more. Cannot recommend a visit enough if you’re in the Charlotte area.
And gosh, how wonderful it was to get the gang all back together again. Here I am with Dorie, Virginia and our friend Joe. I got to visit with quite a few people that I haven’t spent time with in too long.
SATURDAY
I slept in a bit on Saturday and then spent three hours working on editing videos for my the app launch. (I swear I’m going to stop talking about it and be about it soon – but good lord, the amount of prep work has been insane.)
I made it to the gym around midday and got in such a solid strength session with a focus on heavy lifting. After getting 85 pounds up for 10 reps, I decided on a whim to max bench. I got 95 for 2 reps and 100 for 1. One of my co-workers spotted me for the 100 attempt and told me I probably could have gotten 10 more pounds if I used my legs more and braced. Honestly, I never max on anything these days but I’ve had such consistent strength gains recently that I’ve wanted to push myself on weight and see what’s possible!
There was also back squatting, hip thrusting, deadlifting and more pressing. The first super set of my workout is on Instagram. It’s one that I do all the time!
I had a massage right after my workout and let me tell you – the BEST combo. I’ve been seeing my massage therapist on and off for about seven years and I can definitely tell a difference between when I’m getting regular massages and not. Our time together is much more bodywork than relaxing massage – but I feel SO much better after. A very important piece in taking care of my body and preventing injuries.
The rest of my Saturday was working, a long dog walk and a movie on the couch.
SUNDAY
Sunday morning started in the most wonderful way. Meditation and journaling followed by yoga with Ian at Khali. I take this class every Sunday that I don’t have Finn if I’m not traveling. I taught Sunday morning yoga for many, many years pre-Finn and truly came to love “yoga church.” It’s been really special to find a class to take that feels like that to me. It was extra sweet on this Sunday because I got to practice next to Dorie. Two friend yoga dates in one weekend!
Related, I just got my first Liforme yoga mat and I’m obsessed. More to come!
After a stop into ALDI for some grocery shopping, I showered and headed over to Metro to shoot movement demos for my app. I also shot a few Reels for Instagram after I got through the shot list.
I uploaded all of the videos for editing once I got home and then got my puppies leashed up for a walk.
We strolled for a little over three miles while I had phone dates with Virginia and Mema. 🙂
I’m now on the couch writing this post while I watch Firefly Lane. It’s time to bring this weekend to a close.
