Happy Monday. I know it’s probably a little “back to reality” for some of you after the July Fourth holiday mid-week last week and vacations/long weekends.
We had a good weekend over here. The days are seeming a little less long after those early newborn days and I feel like I’ve been able to get out and about a bit more. Also, the weather in Charlotte was amazing this weekend. The storms we had on Friday afternoon brought in a front with some cooler air. Saturday was overcast and in the 70s and Sunday was sunny but the start to the day was in the 60s and refreshingly cool.
Here are some highlights from my weekend!
Lots of Walking
I did a lot of dog and baby walking over the weekend. On Friday Zoey, Finn and I walked a little over three miles and then on Saturday Sullie joined us for a three mile walk since it was cooler out. She’s been “walk striking” lately when it’s really hot. We’ll be walking and all the sudden she stops dead in her tracks and refuses to go forward until you turn around and head home. I was worried something was hurting her but she’ll happily walk with no problem if it’s cooler. She just doesn’t like to be hot!
On Sunday morning I met a friend who’s due with a baby any day now for an “induction walk.” I told her I’d take her on the same walk I went on the day I went into labor. Haha. (I don’t think it worked!) We walked a little over four miles and later that day I took the girls out for another mile.
So lots of walking this weekend! It’s become one of my favorite activities.
Pizza, Cupcakes + Sushi
I also ate some good food. On Friday night I grabbed a slice of pizza and some gelato from Whole Foods.
Saturday afternoon I had a chocolate peanut butter cupcake from Sunflour. Also…I got a manicure and pedicure on Friday evening for the first time since having Finn. That pedicure was VERY needed!
On Saturday night I picked up sushi.
Farmers Market + Coffee Run
On Saturday morning I headed over to Matthews to visit the farmers market. I parked and walked to Brakeman’s first for coffee.
Since it was cooler out I was able to wear Finn, which we both love! I use the Ergo Baby carrier with the infant insert.
At the market I got tomatoes, eggplant, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, potatoes, blueberries and okra. I do a good job with bringing my own reusable shopping bags but clearly I need to get on the reusable produce bag bandwagon!
Lots of Finn Cuddles
The best part of my weekend was lots of Finn cuddles. I watched a couple different movies at night including Set It Up and Brain on Fire on Netflix.
Soaking up all this sweetness and all of these cuddles while he’s still so small and wanting to sleep on me.
And that’s all. I hope it was a good weekend for you too!
Any Netflix movies to recommend?
What did you do this weekend?
Not a movie, but we recently watched the four-episode documentary “Evil Genius” on Netflix and really enjoyed it.
This weather has been such a welcome relief for both dogs and humans!
What a great farmer’s market haul! The state farmers market is celebrating peach day on Thursday, so I think I’ll be taking an extra long lunch to take advantage of that 🙂
I recommend Secret City on Netflix – a six-episode Australian thriller/drama about a journalist investigating political coverups and misdeeds.
Yum- that farmers market haul looks delish and so fresh! I don’t have any movie recs but as far as series go I love The Crown and Madame Secretary!
We were at my parents lake house in Northern Michigan over the weekend and soaked up as much sunshine + lake time as we could. Back to reality today which feels good 🙂
I loved Set It Up! Alex Strangelove is also a really sweet and funny Netflix movie. And if you like cooking shows, Zumbo’s Just Desserts is an Australian baking competition that’s pretty good as a background show.
I’m so glad my dog isn’t the only one who does walk strikes!! In fact mine refuses to even step out the door when it’s crazy hot out! I also think they get more stubborn as they get older too – and less tolerable of the heat.
Looks like an awesome weekend! I also need to get on the reusable produce bag bandwagon. Like you, I’m great about having reusable shopping bags on hand, but I never think about produce bags until I’m already there. My weekend was pretty low-key because I had a little stomach bug, but it was nice to relax and not do much. As for Netflix, I’m forever re-watching Gilmore Girls, and lately I’ve been revisiting old episodes of Parts Unknown.
Had to stick close to home as I was oncall but I did go to Orangetheory on Saturday and Sunday. I also made some banana muffins.
I don’t have an attention span for movies but I’m deep into Peaky Blinders!
The farmers market haul looks great! Finn is too sweet. Glad you treated yourself to a mani/pedi!
Looks like you had a fulfilling weekend. We are currently watching Peaky Blinders.
We have a Sully (Sullivan) golden too. I think it’s so funny how they get stubborn when walking and just won’t move until you head home. Our Sully gets bored when we stop to talk to people on a walk too-he sits down hard and sighs at you til you move on! Love your dog and now baby stories. So sweet how dogs can love their “little siblings”.
Zoey & Sullie are so photogenic, and OMG that pizza slice look amazing!
I loved set it up! If you liked that, you might like Kissing Booth on Netflix. Silly and romantic but a cute and entertaining movie 🙂
“clearly I need to get on the reusable produce bag bandwagon!” =
especially that it’s #plasticfreejuly (you can follow the hashtag on instagram for good tips!)
Ibiza on Netflix. Standard Chick Flick awesomeness.
I have 8 Billion recommends on shows. I will start with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. xxoo
YES to the Marvelous Mrs. Maisle! It sounds boring from the description, but it’s so great. Funny, touching, a peek into 1940s NYC, what’s not to love? Plus she’s dealing with marital strife in the first season, which might inspire you! (It’s uplifting, not depressing, I swear.)
It’s not on Netflix (amazon prime) but the Barkley Marathons documentary is fascinating! Even Tommy – totally not a runner – loved it.
