Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Here are a few quick snapshots from mine.
(Whoa, hey! Here I am!) I kicked off my Friday evening by meeting a friend to run. We ended up going six miles in 80+ degree weather and humidity so I was a sweaty, red faced mess at the end but it felt SO GOOD to move my body. I had an off week of workouts due to not feeling well and being busy with work so I was ready for this run!
I came home and recovered from my run by eating brownie batter. Haha. I actually think I like brownie batter better than cookie dough. I made a batch of my newest favorite brownie recipe to take to a pot luck along with the Watermelon, Feta and Arugula Salad I shared yesterday. I haven’t blogged the brownie recipe yet but I’ve made it twice and they are incredible. (I’m torturing you, right?) In the meantime, I love these Salted Fudge Brownies equally as much.
The pot luck was a small group of yogis and totally warm, welcoming and cozy.
We all brought things to share and our host made this Indian vegetarian lentil stew with homemade flatbreads. It was an evening full of laughter and amazing food.
And ridiculous dog holding. We brought the girls with us because our hosts had a big fenced in backyard (and a dog named Froto!). Zoey was a total ham while Sullie was a perfect angel. ๐
I spent my Saturday taking and teaching yoga and spending time with friends. My friend Angie just started teaching at the studio (in photo above) and another friend who used to teach at the studio was in town visiting from Chicago.
We had brunch at The Flying Biscuit after practice to catch up and for their amazing “creamy dreamy grits” and “mile high biscuits.” Let me share some food weirdness with you…one of my favorite combos ever is grits with scrambled eggs and bacon mixed in so I totally did that with this plate! ๐
The rest of my Saturday consisted of a baby shower, a massage, more work at the studio and frozen pizza and the couch!
I am IN LOVE with my Sunday mornings free from teaching. We slept until 9:30 this morning and then went to Whole Foods for breakfast and grocery shopping. I made a big cup of steel cut oats with apple compote, dried cranberries, raisins, cinnamon and a packet of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter that I purchased for $1. At $2.99 for the cup of oats (and the toppings) this was a steal for breakfast at Whole Foods!
Nothing super exciting to report for the rest of Sunday. Just a lovely day of getting things done, cooking and hanging out with the pups.
Here’s my weekly workout recap.

Not as much lifting as I would have liked but I really needed a break this week due to work demands and not feeling great so I am 100% okay with how the week of workouts went down. I think so much of maintaining a healthy balance with workouts is being flexible. As long as I move most days, I count it as a win!
Cookie dough or brownie batter?
How was your week of workouts?
Sorry you haven’t been feeling great! I was feeling kind of crummy this past week too, and a few of my coworkers were out with a stomach bug! Something’s going around. Hope you’re on the mend! xo
I’m feeling so much better, thanks!
Brownie batter trumps cookie dough batter but a baked chocolate chip cookie beats a baked brownie!! It’s opposite I know! Love your blog!
My sister has the exact same blue top as you!
Oh I always liked brownie batter but if I had to choose, I may still go traditional with the cookie dough :)….Love the look of that oatmeal! My fave.
My workouts this week consisted mainly of walking around NYC. Almost 10 miles everyday. I did run a couple times but the walking was more than enough for me this week. This week I will hopefully pick up a pair of weights ๐
I loved reading about it! Good luck with your internship!
I’d choose brownie batter over cookie dough, but I’m more of a cake batter girl ๐
I’m an equal opportunity batter lover ๐
My workouts involved running and some hotel gym stuff because I was traveling!
Ha! Why pick just one?
I am 100% with you on the brownie batter. It is so yummy, in fact I think bronwies are way better than cookies baked too!
The more chocolate, the better!
Um your skin is absolutely gorgeous! I’d love a post about your skin care routine. With as much as I sweat between hot yoga & running I just can’t keep my skin looking flawless like yours. ๐
Thank you! I posted about my skin care routine a few months or so back. You could search it and find it.
Haha, Zoey is the cutest. I STILL hold Bentley like that and he weighs 75 pounds now. And I’m with you – I would choose brownie batter over cookie dough any day. I remember telling my mom when I was little that I couldn’t wait until I grew up so I could make my own brownie batter to eat all the time since she wouldn’t let me just eat it straight from the bowl!
Ha! Too cute
I could eat either batter…just depends on the mood…LOL! This weekend, I was able to get in some yoga; 6 mile early Saturday run; indoor cycling; and lots of walks with Lucy. Looks like a great weekend friend! xoxo
That sounds perfect! Love walking my girls
I made brownies this weekend too…but I think I’m more of a cookie dough gal ๐
I’m so curious, how do you stay so hydrated in the heat!? I get easily dehydrated (I think it’s a product of getting older because I am a runner and never used to get so dehydrated when younger) and would never be able to run in 80+ weather without getting a terrible headache from dehydration. I have been searching for electrolyte tabs (or something) but haven’t found anything without a bunch of chemicals and while Coconut water helps somewhat, it doesn’t completely do the trick. Any advice?
I recommend Ultima if you’re looking for electrolytes. Pre-hydrating certainly helps along with replacing electrolytes after.
I love brownie AND cookie dough ๐ Especially after a good workout!! I love sleeping in on the weekends…although sleeping in is only 7am for me. Still feels great!! ๐
That feels like sleeping in for me too after I have 5:30 am clients!
Cookie dough, every single time!
Looking forward making your new brownie recipe. I’ve made the salty fudgy brownies several times. I also like the brownie recipe in Baked: New Frontiers in Baking.
As a fellow peanut butter devotee I have to ask if you have tried the Ben & Jerry’s Peanut Buttah ice cream. I live in an area where local frozen custard is king, so I rarely purchase ice cream from the grocery store, but when I saw it I had to tried it: peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter cookie pieces in it.
It also had this weird “core” of peanut butter cookie dough that I didn’t really understand (it stayed super hard while the ice cream got nice and soft, and so it was it was hard to eat with the ice cream) and to me that part had a weird chemical aftertaste, so I just ate around it.
But the ice cream part was nice and peanut buttery, and the crunchy bits were delicious!
